Virtual Crop Sketch – 4th April

Hello,

Karen here.  I hope you are all keeping safe and well and Roxanne and I are bringing you something a little different today.  We have each designed a sketch and then used each other’s sketch to produce a page.

I took inspiration for my sketch from this page, that I made last year.

Hi everyone, I am hoping you are all staying safe and healthy- Roxanne here to show you what I created using Karens lovely sketch.

April 4th Sketch Challenge 2020 RS Picture1

I used the MORNING DEW collection by Kasiercraft for this challenge. I choose the stones (BREATHE – MORNING DEW COLLECTION) as the background because our dog, Pluto, loves to pick up stones and carry them around. I then couldn’t resist using the spotted page (INHALE – MORNING DEW COLLECTION) to compliment Pluto spots! When comparing my layout to Karen’s sketch I have added an extra border, moved the horizontal strip from the top to the bottom and I have still used three sets of flowers but the larger one is not clustered.

April 4th Sketch Challenge 2020 RS Picture2 April 4th Sketch Challenge 2020 RS Picture4 April 4th Sketch Challenge 2020 RS Picture5

To create these flowers, I have used the set of stamps from the Magenta Collection that we received at the Merly Impressions Retreat 2019. April 4th Sketch Challenge 2020 RS Picture3

Hi Roxanne here,

Below is a layout I created last year, so took inspiration from it to produce my sketch.

69653220_525521741527484_2912111135199068160_n

Below is the sketch that I came up with, it is somewhat simplified compare to the original layout but I think this makes it easier to move around.

90891601_4166888703336728_6579402208230506496_o

I then provided this sketch to Karen and she has created a beautiful layout using this sketch. I hope to see many other gorgeous layouts using this sketch over the next two weeks!

Karen here – I have used this sketch and Ladylike to make my page.  I turned her sketch a quarter turn to the left and used portrait photos rather than landscape ones.

As we said last week – you can interpret the sketch any way you wish.

Have fun!!!!!

Inspiration for Chrissy’s Virtual Crop Sketch March 28th

Hi Chrissy’s Crafty Challengers,

Karen and Roxanne from the Merly Impressions Design Team have some inspiration for this weeks sketch challenge! We have both had a go at this challenge and here is what we have created:

Karen – I have chosen this sketch from the two Chrissy posted and I have used the Native Breeze collection for this page.

91553402_10220583476204324_4031833599169789952_n

I was amazed how different this page looked to the others I made with this range, just goes to show how versatile Native Breeze is.

Super Star

As you can see I swapped out the hearts for stars and cut double the amount so that I could fold the top ones to give dimension.

Super Star detail 2

I also swapped out the two smaller photos for some journaling, not my handwriting but written with my Silhouette – I wish my handwriting was that neat.

Super Star detail 1

I am really excited to see your versions of this sketch – remember you can flip it, make elements larger or smaller – make your photo larger or smaller (as I have) and add or remove elements.  Just go for it and make it your own x

Roxanne- I decided to go with the sketch that has the large heart, see below. I choose this one because I have many “love” photo’s of me and my fiancé.

90851723_10220583476244325_1381129760041598976_n

Many years ago I bought a lot of the MINT WISHES Collection by Kaisercraft and carted it all the way to Germany with me. So I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to use it! I also found this snow photo that I absolutely adore and thought it suited perfectly. I have titled this layout “Snow Love”.

Picture1

I had been saving this stunning Uniquely Creative laser cut heart for the perfect project, which just happened to be this one! I have sprayed it with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – WHITE 50ML to make it sparkle.Picture4I have used a large lace in the middle of my punched strip with some ribbon as the central strip from the sketch.
Picture3

Amongst my stash I found many Die Cut leave and branch pieces, as well as this beautiful circle! I clustered these die cut pieces with the collectables in a similar place to on the sketch.   Picture2

I have also includes some white felt snowflakes and some blue-gray painted wooden snowflakes into my clusters for extra dimension.
Picture5

Finally, I have embellished with my favourite- RHINESTONES – SILVER.

We hope we have inspired you to have a go at this wonderful challenge ! As Karen said, you can stick strictly to a sketch or you can change it up as much as you like. We saw many gorgeous designs entered into last weeks challenge and hope to see just as many, if not more this week!

Stay home, stay safe and crafts lots!

Challenge Inspiration with Yuletide

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here with a brand new layout created for Merly Impressions November Sketch Challenge.

I really enjoyed working with this month’s sketch, created by our very own Debs Wood. And here is what I came up with:

MI-Merry-and-Bright-web

This month I have the pleasure to work with one of the newest Kaisercraft collections – Yuletide. The shabby vintage look and feel of this paper line is just what I was looking for! Now, that I found it, I will have to scrap all those Christmas pictures I’ve made through the years!

For my background I used Kaisercard Stone Wave Cardstock. I softened the colour in the middle by adding a thin layer of Ranger Gesso and then I sprinkled Dylusions Red spray on top of it. After the Gesso has dried, I stamped the frame using  Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad Tea Dye and Kaisercraft Clear Stamp Grundge bakcground. Then I added a second layer with Kaisercraft Clear Stamp Bubble Wrap and Kaisercolour Paint Mocha.

To finish off my background I added two red 12″ stripes with different motives.

MI-Merry-and-Bright-det-a

MI-Merry-and-Bright-det-b

After all the ink and pains has dries, I started arranging my page. I used two small pictures (7,5 x 10cm) and an image from the Traditions foil pattern paper as a central point of my design. I decorated the pictures with die cut elements from the Collectables pack matching the collection…

MI-Merry-and-Bright-det-e

… fussy cut elements from the pattern papers from the small Paper Pad

MI-Merry-and-Bright-det-f

and ribbon from the Kaisercraft Lace Pack – Natural. I adhered my embellishments using mounting foam tape and Kaisercraft Mounting Foam Dots.

MI-Merry-and-Bright-det-g

I used Ranger Stickles Gold and Christmas red to finish off the background design and the alteration of some of the die cut elements.

MI-Merry-and-Bright-det-d

I used also stickers from the 12″ Sticker Sheet, which I adhered with mounting foam tape.

MI-Merry-and-Bright-det-c

I hope I managed to inspire you today! And I can’t wait to see your creations in our gallery!

Don’t forget you’ve got until 1pm on 13th of December, 2014 to add your creation to the gallery under the November Sketch Challenge. We will then choose our favourite layout to win a fantastic prize – a £25.00 voucher to spend on anything you want from the Merly Impressions online store.

Have a great day!

Merly Impressions November 2014 Challenge

This month we are offering you a sketch challenge drawn by Debs. You can flip or rotate the sketch and your layout can be on any subject but we must be able to recognise that your layout was based on the sketch drawn by Debs.

We are extending this challenge slightly longer than normal – the final date for entries is the 13th of December 2014.

Debs has created a layout to provide a little inspiration:

Hi there!

This month was my turn for the Sketch challenge.  The collection I used for this was the gorgeous  Teddy Bear’s Picnic.  Once again a perfect collection for my young Grandson!  The colours match the toy that my Grandson loves.

Here is my sketch:

sketch

For the main paper I used was the Beary Special die-cut paper.  I used three photos and these were mounted on a sheet of Furry and Bear Love cut  to the photo.  I also used these paper to cut the Rosettes.  The rosettes were placed on the photo corners, added to this was Paper Blooms in Sea Breeze.   I wanted a balanced look so used a mix of blooms and rosettes.  The extra look on the rosettes were button stickers from the sticker sheet.

debs-1

The banners came from the sticker sheet, and were stuck onto twine and tape.  For the title i used words from the Collectables.  Also for the journaling I used a Collectable…the words say all I could want to say about the photos.

I hope you enjoyed my Sketch,

Debs

Challenge Inspiration with Tropical Punch

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here with a brand new layout created for Merly Impressions October Sketch Challenge.

Sandra did an amazing job creating the sketch – it has so many different elements and I really enjoyed playing with it!

Here is what I came up with:

MI-sweet-happiness-web

This month I have the pleasure to work with the wonderful Kaisercraft collection Tropical Punch. This collection has bold colours and fruity/floral prints perfect for almost every type of project!

For my background I layered the Fun Times pattern paper on top of the Cocktail pattern paper. I didn’t altered the Fun Times pattern paper further, because I really like the vintage newspaper look of it.

I added a layer of pink pattern paper from the Tropical Punch Paper Pad, which I altered with a few cards from the 3 x 4 Pineapple Crush Captured Moments cards pack.

MI-sweet-happiness-det-b

For the rest of the embellishments on my layout I used the matching Collectables die cuts pack and some die cuts from the Tropical Punch Paper Pad.

MI-sweet-happiness-det-c

The flowers are also from Kaisercraft – Paper Blooms Hot Pink and Paper Blooms Sunset. The resin blossoms are also from Kaisercraft – Resin Flowers Dahlia.

MI-sweet-happiness-det-e

For my title I used pre-cut banners from the Collectables die cuts pack.

MI-sweet-happiness-det-d

And of course – a girly layout is never complete without a few butterflies – again from the Collectables pack.

MI-sweet-happiness-det-a

I hope I managed to inspire you today! And I can’t wait to see your creations!

Don’t forget you’ve got until 2nd of November, 2014 to add your creation to the gallery under the October Challenge post. We will then choose our favourite layout to win a fantastic prize – a £25.00 voucher to spend on anything you want from the Merly Impressions online store.

Have a great day!

Sketch Challenge: Rustic Harmony

Hi everyone,

It’s Pam here.

This month I get to scrap with the wonderful shabby chic collection, Rustic Harmony. This collection has a subtle colour palette of soft greys,  browns, pink and green together with distressed patterned papers.

This is the layout I came up with using Sandra’s sketch this month. This photo of my great grandparents has recently been discovered. Photos like these are rare in my family so they are definitely worth preserving and scrapping. _MG_1386-1Here is Sandra’s sketch…..

10653880_10204170736336085_3566607315468260007_n….and here it is rotated. which is how I used it to make my layout:

10653880_10204170736336085_3566607315468260007_nAnd now for some  close ups.

The circle element of the sketch is made by sponging distress ink through the centre part of the lacey doily 12 x 12 stencil.

_MG_1386-1ed_edited-1I used a soft lead pencil to shade around some of the elements for a faux 3d effect:

_MG_1389-2Detail of one of the border stickers with some adhesive pearl embellishment:  _MG_1392-3

And some fussy cutting and tag detail:_MG_1393-4I’m really looking forward to seeing your interpretation of Sandra’s sketch.

Don’t forget you’ve got until 2nd of November, 2014 to add your creation to the gallery under the October Challenge post.
