The Australian Christmas Spirit

Hi Everyone,

Today I would like to share a layout that I created using the UNDER THE GUM LEAVES Collection by Kaisercraft. This collection really inspired to hunt down some “Old Aussie Christmas” photo’s from my childhood. This one contains a photo from a Christmas Party where my mum are engaging in the true Christmas spirit of dressing up. For this layout I have gone for something a little more elegant and focused on the gorgeous gum leaves, using them to create a lovely curtain for my photo to sit under. The deep red and black in this layout with the touches of gold throughout compliment
setting.

20190929_111813

To create this Layout I followed the following steps:

  1. Cut KAISERCARD SPEARMINT WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 28 x 28 cm and stamped it with the CLEAR TEXTURE STAMP – PAINT SPLATTER in KAISERINK PAD – FOREST. Ink edges directly with the KAISERINK PAD – FOREST.20190912_220757
  2. Cut KAISERCARD MAROON PREMIUM CARDSTOCK to 27 x 27 cm, and ink edges with KAISERINK PAD – GOLD PIGMENT. Cut out the centre to use around the photo later. Attach to the frame to the middle of prepared KAISERCARD SPEARMINT WEAVE CARDSTOCK.
  3. Cut WATTLE – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION (reverse) to 26 x 26 cm, ink edges with KAISERINK PAD – GOLD PIGMENT and attach to the middle of KAISERCARD MAROON PREMIUM CARDSTOCK.
  4. Using a paint brush, splatter KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – GOLD SHIMMER 50ML onto layout.
  5. Cut KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 30.5 x 30.5 cm. Ink edges with KAISERINK PAD – GOLD PIGMENT and splatter with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – GOLD SHIMMER 50ML.
  6. Attach the Wattle-Maroon-Spearmint layered piece to the centre of the KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK using MOUNTING FOAM TAPE or spare thick cardboard and tape.20190919_191622
  7. Fussy cut the leaves and Christmas balls from 2x GUM LEAVES – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION. Additionally, fussy cut some of the leaves from back of the left over too. Layer them on the top and down the sides of the WATTLE – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION part if the layout. 20190919_204719
  8. Cut a photo frame at 12 x17 cm out of the left over KAISERCARD MAROON PREMIUM CARDSTOCK, ink edges in KAISERINK PAD – GOLD PIGMENT and attach in the centre of the layout.
  9. Cut a second photo frame of gold foil from FOIL PAPER PAD – FESTIVE with dimensions of 11 x 16 cm. Attach a photo to the middle andMOUNTING FOAM TAPE the combination to the KAISERCARD MAROON PREMIUM CARDSTOCK frame.20190929_111813

Platypus Presents

Hi Everyone,

Today I would like to share a layout that I created using the UNDER THE GUM LEAVES Collection by Kaisercraft. This collection really inspired to hunt down some “Old Aussie Christmas” photo’s from my childhood. This photo is of my little brother opening his Christmas presents. This layout consists of many techniques including distressing, inking, stencilling, layering and fussy cutting. I have gone for a yellow and red theme with my favourite Australian animal- the platypus.

20191012_102009

The steps I used to create this layout are as follows:

  1. Take four complementary sheets from PAPER PAD – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION, cut one to create a frame for your photo and cut the others to random sizes. Distress the edges with PAPER DISTRESSER and ink edges with KAISERINK PAD – AMBER or KAISERINK PAD – CHOCOLATE. Layer randomly behind the photo. 20191003_120641
  2. Continue layering until all the pieces are used.20191003_122343
  3. Cut KAISERCARD IVORY PREMIUM CARDSTOCK to 30.5 x30.5 cm. Distress the edges with PAPER DISTRESSER and ink edges with KAISERINK PAD – AMBER. Using an ink blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – AMBER transfer the gum leaf pattern of GUM LEAF MINI DESIGNER STENCIL to the left, top and right edges of the cardstock. In KAISERINK PAD – CHOCOLATE, randomly stamp TINY DOTS background stamp in the centre of the layout.20191003_124254
  4. Attach layered photo to the middle of the layout. Fussy cut the platypus from FAUNA – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION and the platypus from the PAPER PAD – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION, layer at the bottom right of the photo. 20191003_124427
  5. Fussy cut the flowers and holly from HOME FOR CHRISTMAS – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION and some leaves from GUM LEAVES – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION, layer around photo. Embellish with FLOURISH PACK – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION and CHEESECLOTH GAUZE.
    20191005_075840
  6. Cover photo with scrap paper and splatter KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – YELLOW 50ML. Embellish with RHINESTONES – DEEP YELLOW20191006_180958I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and full instructions to recreate this layout. I have made a twin page of this layout which I have titled “Echidna Kisses”. For this one I have focused on the using green and red for colours and Echidna from FAUNA – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION as the main feature, however this layout could easily be made with any of the animals and any colours!

A Great Aussie Christmas

Hi Everyone,

Today I would like to share a layout that I created using the UNDER THE GUM LEAVES Collection by Kaisercraft. This collection really inspired to hunt down some “Old Aussie Christmas” photo’s from my childhood. This double layout contains two photos from the Christmas Party my family attended every year at the Great Aussie Resort. Santa would come and give all the children presents and sometimes the adults too. For this layout I have gone for an Australian flora (and fauna) wreath which the emu and Kangaroo are holding up, similar to the Australian Coat of Arms. As this was the first time I had the chance to play with Kaisercrafts newer style sticker books, this layout also contains many of the stickers from this.

20190929_152409

To create this Layout I followed the following steps:

  1. Cut 2x KAISERCARD WHITE PREMIUM CARDSTOCK to 30.5 x 30.5 cm and tape together at the back. Stamp CLEAR STAMP – SCRIPT BACKGROUND in DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY down the left and right-hand sides of the layout. Use an ink blending tool to ink edges of the layout in DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY20190921_164837
  2. Cut 2x NATIVE TREE – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION (reverse) to 29.5 x 30 cm, ink edges in DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY and attach to the middle of the layout.
  3. Cut COCKATOO – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION (reverse) to 27.5 x 30.5 cm ink edges in DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY. Cut two pieces of WILD FLORA – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION to 15 x 30 cm, ink edges in DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY and attach to the middle of COCKATOO – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION. MOUNTING FOAM TAPE combined piece to the middle of the layout.20190922_192313
  4. Cut four pieces of WATTLE – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION (reverse) to 4.5 x 8 cm and tuck under each corner of the combined, foam taped centre piece. Randomly spray KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – GOLD SHIMMER 50ML.    20190922_192733
  5. Take two photos (15.4 x 10.2 cm) and attach to the middle of the layout. Using the flower clusters in the STICKER BOOK – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION, stick them around the photos to create a wreath. Take the Cockatoo and Koala stickers and foam tape to the top and bottom of the wreath, respectively. Ink the edges of each sticker with an ink blending tool and DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY.
  6. Take a green and a gold foil sheet from FOIL PAPER PAD – FESTIVE and cut with a Kaisercraft Flourish Die Cut (Suggestions: DECORATIVE DIE – DECOR FLOURISHDECORATIVE DIE – ORNATE FLOURISHDECORATIVE DIE – SWIRL FLOURISH). Cut each of the flourishes in half and swap to have a multi colour flourish and glue one to each side of the wreath, coming from 4  and 8 o’clock.
  7. Take the holy strips from the STICKER BOOK – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION and stick to the left edge and right edge of the layout, in the WILD FLORA – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION section. Also take the present strips then cut and layer on each side of the wreath. Fussy cut the Emu and Kangaroo from FAUNA – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION and foam tape to the left and right of the wreath, respectively.20190922_214932
  8. Fussy cut the red flowers from the miniature version of HOME FOR CHRISTMAS – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION (reverse) from the PAPER PAD – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION and foam tape in the wreath to give it more dimension. Take some of the flag stickers, word stickers and sticker strips from the STICKER BOOK – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION and embellish the layout.
  9. Take bottom strips from WILD FLORA – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION  and HOME FOR CHRISTMAS – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION and embellish the bottom of the layout further.20190922_231822
  10. Do the final embellishment with RHINESTONES – DEEP YELLOW

Merry Christmas with Peppermint Kisses

Hi everyone,

Denise here with my second layout using the lovely Peppermint Kisses Collection IMG_2797 R2B2

In this layout I am focusing on using the Collectables Pack . I love these little packs of die cuts, they are usually the first thing I go to when receiving my box to work with. I love to open the pack and look through them all to see what I can do with them.

I started with a 12 x 12 paper called Minty for my base, then cut down a sheet of Wrapped Up paper next.IMG_2784I painted  a Christmas Tree and a Merry Christmas sentiment from the Wooden Flourishes Pack and left them to dry .

Next i decided on my photo then matted it onto some paper from the Paper Pad and some Crimson Weave Cardstock

I decided to place my photo on the left side of the layout, then decorated around it with lots of die cuts and the wood flourishes.IMG_2797IMG_2797 RBIMG_2785

The die cuts from the Collectables were raised up on Foam Tape to add dimension .

I drew some little dots above the baubles to look like they were hanging down.

Finally I used some of the Curios to decorate in between the die cuts.IMG_2797 R2

I hope you have enjoyed this, I’m loving working with this collection.

Happy scrapping !

Love with Starry Night

Hello, Karen here again with my second project using the beautiful Starry Night collection.  Again, I decided to make another non-Christmas layout to showcase how versatile this range is.

Love Layout

For this layout I have used Kaisercard in Anchor, Modern, Magic, Miraculous, Astounding and Radiant 12 x 12 papers, Sticker Book, Foil Paper Pad, Rhinestone Strips, Deep Yellow Rhinestones, Kaisermist in Gold, Kaisermist in NavyDecorative Die Poinsettia and Decorative Dies – Festive Frames.

I started by trimming .25in from the bottom and one side of my Modern paper, adding to the centre of the  Kaisercard and spattered  Kaisermist in Gold and Navy onto it.  IMG_0429

I cut a strip of   Anchor Kaisercard  1.5 ins wide and used a border punch on one long edge.  From the Astounding paper I cut the strip with large gold spots and the one with gold stars.  I also cut a piece of Magic 1.25 wide which I added the to the left of my page and the card strip 3.25 from the left. The gold spot paper was then added on top of this.

IMG_0430

Next I cut a piece of Modern measuring 5.5 ins and used the border punch, used previously, on both long edges.  To this I added a piece of Magic  (foiled side down) which measured 3.5 x 10 and stuck this to the piece of Modern .75 from the left.  My final piece of Astounding  was added over this vertically along the middle of the gold spot strip with a strip of rhinestones  Onto these I layered the Rhinestone Strips either side and a piece of punched paper from the Foil Paper Pad to the right of this strip. This was stuck to my page 1 in from the top.

IMG_0431

I cut a heart, freehand, from a piece from the Foil Paper Pad and a smaller one from Radiant I layered them up with a Rhinestone Strip around the edge. This was placed at the bottom right of my page.

IMG_0432

I added a 5 x 7 in photo to the left of my page with stickers from the Sticker Book along the right of my photo extending them slightly around the top and bottom, adding a Deep Yellow Rhinestone to the centre of each flower.

IMG_0435

From Foil Paper Pad I used the Decorative Die Poinsettia to cut two flowers which I added to the top and bottom left of my photo.  As a final touch I used the ‘Love’ from the Decorative Dies – Festive Frames was used for my title.

IMG_0434

This is such a beautiful range and I am really pleased with the results.

Cockatoo Christmas

Hi Everyone,

Today I would like to share a layout that I created using the UNDER THE GUM LEAVES Collection by Kaisercraft. This collection really inspired to hunt down some “Old Aussie Christmas” photo’s from my childhood. This one contains a photo taken on Christmas morning after Santa had left our Christmas present in the paddock. Here I have focused on using representing the Cockatoo in this layout as these birds can be very cheeky in nature, which connects to the children playing. They also appear to be looking eagerly and awaiting their turn to play.

20190929_180829

To create this Layout I followed the following steps:

  1. Trim BOTTLE BRUSH – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION to 30.5 x 30.5 cm and cut out the centre to get a piece that is 22 x 22 cm. Distress the edges with PAPER DISTRESSER and ink with KAISERINK PAD – FOREST and an ink blending tool.20190921_092252
  2. Using KAISERINK PAD – FOREST and an ink blending tool, transfer the GUM LEAF MINI DESIGNER STENCIL pattern onto the smaller piece of BOTTLE BRUSH – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION20190921_093019
  3. Cut GOLDEN GLITTER CARDSTOCK to 23.5 x 23.5 cm and KAISERCARD CACTUS WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 24.5 x 24.5 cm. Distress the edges with PAPER DISTRESSER and ink with KAISERINK PAD – FOREST and an ink blending tool.
  4. Attach the smallBOTTLE BRUSH – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION to the GOLDEN GLITTER CARDSTOCK . Attach this combination to the KAISERCARD CACTUS WEAVE CARDSTOCK. Foam tape (or Cardboard and tape) this tripled layer to the lagerBOTTLE BRUSH – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION. Using a paint brush and KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – YELLOW 50ML, paint some additional wattle flowers onto the background.20190921_100314
  5. Fussy cut the Cockatoo, leaves and wattle flowers from Cockatoo paper. MOUNTING FOAM TAPE to the left hand side of the centre BOTTLE BRUSH – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION. Frame photo (15.4 x 10.2 cm) with the green and red striped paper from the PAPER PAD – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION.20190921_132647
  6. Embellish layout with another cockatoo and messages from the PAPER PAD – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION, stickers from the STICKER BOOK – UNDER THE GUM LEAVES COLLECTION, RHINESTONES – DEEP YELLOW and clear glitter glue.

Celebrate with Starry Night

Hello, Karen here with my first post for October and this month I am working with the absolutely stunning Starry Night collection featuring lots of navy with gold foiling. Although this is a Christmas range I wanted to use it for non-Christmassy photos.

When I saw the Magic paper it reminded me that I had a photo of Gracia, taken six years ago when she was going to Josh’s graduation ball and wore a black dress with gold sparkles.

Layout

For this project I have used magic, Daring, Glowing and Astounding 12 x 12 papers, Caramel Kaisercard, Sticker Book, Curios, 6.5 x 6.5 Paper Pad, Collectables, Foil Pad, Curios and Deep Yellow Rhinestones.

I started by gutting a 7.5 x 5.5 piece from the centre of the Caramel Kaisercard and set this aside. Then I trimmed .25in from the bottom and one side of the magic paper and added this to the centre of the Caramel Kaisercard.

I cut the small gold spot strip from the Astounding paper , adding this to the bottom of my page.  Next I used a border punch to create two gold strips using a sheet from the Foil Pad, I overlapped one on top of the other to make a long strip which I trimmed to 12 ins wide (I saved the remaining scrap to add above my photo) and added above the gold spot strip.

IMG_0407

I trimmed a 5 in strip from the Glowing  paper, trimmed .25in from one side and fussy cut along the top of the flowers. This was then added 1 in from the bottom of my page.

Untitled-1

My 7 x 5in photo was mounted on the piece of Caramel Kaisercard that I had gutted previously.  This was added to the centre of my page with a piece of punched gold added at the top between the card and the photo.

I fussy cut two large and two small flowers from Daring paper I also cut two flowers from the corresponding paper in the 6.5 x 6.5 Paper Pad.  I snipped each flower along the petals, leaving a small area in the centre intact.  This enabled me to curl them downwards to give them a nice shape. I layered the three sizes of flowers up and added one either side of my photo.

IMG_0409

A gold flourish, from the Collectables pack was added above the flowers at either side.  I snipped curled two flowers, from the Collectables pack, and added either side of the white flower.

IMG_0410

I added journalling to a Kraft tag (from my own supplies)which was then added to the left of my page.  Onto this I adhered a Curio and a ‘Celebrate’ tag from the Collectables pack.

IMG_0411

My Celebrate title was taken from the Sticker Book and I added Deep Yellow Rhinestones to the centre of each flower.

September 21st Merly Crop Layout & kit Sneak Peeks

Hi Everyone,

There is just about a week to go until our September 21st 2019 Merly Crop, so here are the details of the crop and sneak peeks of the layouts that you will be able to create using the kit. For the kit I have used papers from the beautiful Starry Night Kaisercraft collection.

Q41_CollectionFans4

As well as the papers in the kit there are also four sheets of Kaisercard, DMC thread,  rhinestones, a template and detailed instructions with coloured photo’s for you to follow, so you can create the two layouts that I have designed, at your own pace.

Below are some sneak peeks of the first layout which I’ve called “You are my starburst”

I have also stamped and fussy cut some poinsettia from the matching stamp set, the stamp will be available to use at the crop (or if you want to purchase it, it is now online. My photo measures about 12cm x 12cm. There will be a starburst template in each kit.

Below are some sneak peeks of the second layout which I’ve called “Gorgeous”

This layout features lots of beautiful fussy cutting, punching, stitching and layering, there is a lot of height in this layout. My photo measures about 13.5cm wide by about 10.5cm high. The punch will be available to use at the crop along with the Sew Easy Tools.

I will also be bringing some of my latest, Kaisercraft design team creations

IMG_4471 (1)

Other items used which you may want to bring are a needle for sewing (if you want to do it) foam pads and a small pair of scissors as there is a lot of fussy cutting on both layouts. We will however have a selection of Foam dots/roll, available to purchase in the on site Merly shop.

I have also used the WRMK Sew Easy Tool, Martha Stewart petal Edge Punch – , we will however bring these items to the crop for people to use and our other usual supply of tools including the Big Shot machine & a small selection of other punches and dies.

IMG_1178

The location of the crop, together with other details and future dates can be found on our Crop Dates page. We also have a crop/retreat facebook page, where you can see more sneak peeks of these layouts – and details of up and coming events and where you can also post your finished layouts.
