Fresh Baked – Bon Appetit

Hello everyone,

Linda here with my last layout for Merly Impressions. I like to Thank Chrissy and team for having me – it’s been a blast!  And all of you for sharing my journey – what a ride!

So, my brief here was to feature the Plate die cut from the Bon Appetit collection from Kaisercraft. I wanted to make it look like a picnic quilt, so cut 3″ squares from Fresh, Recipe, Prep, Floured and others from the paper pad.

IMG_1532 smallAll the edges were inked with Black Soot and a blending tool, then assembled onto a sheet of Latte Kaisercard. I laid the plate on bottom right and trimmed to fit.

IMG_1533 smallThe “Stir” paper has a lovely cook book so I found the equivalent in the paper pad and cut two out, joined them together and added a ribbon bookmark. This was fixed in the centre but raised either side on mounting foam tape, and placed onto the plate along with 2 circular photographs of the cakes I had made – one 1 x 2 1/2 and 1 x 3 1/2 – both backed with Scarlet Kaisercard. I wrote part of the recipe onto one side with a Black Micron pen. The “baked for you” is from the sticker sheet and the mixer from the Collectables. I also tucked a folded piece of paper from the paper pad under the edge.

IMG_1535 smallI die-cut some large flourishes from Floured and tucked the edge under the book, and added some punched flowers from Fresh with pearls in the centres.

IMG_1536 smallMy other photograph is 4″ square, matted with Scarlet Kaisercard as before. Another flourish with flowers was added here. Little dots were added around the photo’s and on the flowers using a white gel pen and DMC thread was used to “stitch” the squares together in places.

IMG_1542 smallAt the top I added some words from a cut-off strip and the Bon Appetit sticker from the sheet, these were outlined with a micron pen and dotted with the white gel pen.

IMG_1543 smallFinally I added some words from the Collectables along with some black pearls (from my stash).

I’ve also made an extra layout this month as I couldn’t decide which photographs to use – so – just to share this one too……

IMG_1537 small IMG_1538 small IMG_1539 small IMG_1540 (2) smallThank-you again for sharing my journey, I’m sure Elaine will be made very welcome to the team and I’m really looking forward to seeing her projects. Check back in a few days for more inspirational layouts.

So farewell from me, take care,

~ Linda ~

Recipe for a happy childhood – Bon Appetit

Hi Everyone,

Linda here with the lovely Bon Appetit Collection from Kaisercraft.

This is a fabulous collection for all the bakers out there especially with The Great British Bake-Off being so popular. With my first layout though, I wanted to show that it doesn’t have to be about cooking so used the recipe cards for a different idea.

IMG_1400 smallI began with Stir which features an open book, trimmed around the top and left of the spoon with a craft knife and also the middle on the right, and added 3 x recipe cards so they looked as if they were inside.

IMG_1414 smallI found a recipe online for “a happy childhood” and wrote it onto the top card with a Micron pen and tucked it under the spoon. Next came a piece of Cool 4 x 12″ which I folded and twisted to replicate a tea-towel, then cut along the edge of the tea-towel on the base page and inserted and arranged underneath.

IMG_1413 smallMy photo is 3 1/2 x 4 1/2″ matted onto a piece of red check paper from the paper pad. I added a piece to reverse too and folded the corner back, fastening with a brad.

IMG_1415 smallThis was then tucked under the spoon handle too.

IMG_1416 smallBake has lots of utensils on it so I cut them all out. The top of this sheet is like a chopping board so I laid it over the bottom corner and trimmed to fit.

IMG_1417 smallThe utensils were then added using mounting foam tape for definition & height. The jar is from the collectables pack. A few Chocolate pearls were added top right and a dusting of watered down white acrylic paint (or should I say “flour”) completed the page.

Thank-you for taking the time to read this, don’t forget to pop back soon for more fabulous ideas from my teamies.

Until then, take care,

~ Linda ~

Recipe box with greeting card – with Bon Appetit

Hi Everyone,

Linda here with something a little different using Kaisercrafts Bon Appetit Collection – a recipe box to hold the fabulous cards that come with the collection.

IMG_1423 smallIt began life as an A4 piece of 300gsm white card – I chose this because of the strength required and cut it as follows –

IMG_1418 smallThe recipe cards are 6×4″ and fit perfectly inside – I have trimmed the top edge so its more even.

IMG_1419 smallNext comes the fun bit – decorating it! I began with the paper pad using the Bake sheet, cut into 2″ strips and covered each side, thenFresh to cover the remainder of the outside. All of the edges were inked withWalnut Stain Distress Ink and a mini blending tool.

To create the dividers, I cut Stone & Scarlet Kaisercard into pieces 6×4″ and added the tab tops from the Sticker sheet, 5 of which are already named, the others were added from the words. The fronts were then decorated using items from The Collectables, papers from the paper pad and some 12×12 papers, plus the sticker sheet.

IMG_1425 smallI created 10 in total, 5 Stone and 5 Scarlet.

IMG_1426 smallEach with a different title –

IMG_1427 smallThese worked perfectly with the recipe cards

IMG_1429 smallTo create a fastening, I used to die-cuts from the paper pad – one on the front of the box and one on the lid. These are attached using brads. A ribbon tied to the lower one wraps around the top to close. I then added some scraps to the inside top of the box to cover the brad and to finish the edge.

IMG_1421 smallThe index cards sitting inside –

IMG_1424 smallI decided this would make a great gift for a friend who loves to cook so made an accompanying card –

IMG_1430 smallIt’s a 6 x 4″ tentfold card made from Stone Kaisercard, a matt of Scarlet Kaisercard, then a piece of Fresh. The message, the pot and the utensils are from the Collectables pack. Raised on mounting foam tape and a squidge of glue gel to hold the tools in place. It sits inside the box too –

IMG_1432 smallHere’s hoping she likes it! Thank-you for taking the time to read, check back later for more fabulous designs from the DT.

Until then, take care,

~Linda~

Friends Forever – Boho Dreams

Hello everyone,

Linda here with my last layout using Boho Dreams by Kaisercraft for July.

IMG_1262 smallI began with Bohemian and tore some pieces away from the edge and down the side. These were lightly distressed using  a paper distresser. Behind these areas I added some Wander paper. My photo is 5 x 3 3/4″ mounted onto Denim Kaisercard with a small border, then onto a piece of Daydreamer 6 1/2 x 5 1/2″. I chose this section as the words worked with my layout. Next another border of Denim 7 x 8 1/2″ where I added a border with a Martha Stewart punch. Under the edge is a small piece of Feathers for contrast and the whole piece matted onto Avocado Kaisercard.

IMG_1265 smallLots of layers! Over the photo I added a couple of polaroid frames on foam tape. The words Smile (& #) plus Friends – Forever were cut from Daydreamer and added to the frames and above with more foam tape.

IMG_1263 smallLots of roses were cut from Wild, some tucked into the tears and some place around the matted frames.  Large flourishes were die-cut with Avocado Kaisercard and added under the photo matt.

IMG_1264 smallAll edges were inked with Faded Jeans Distress ink.

Don’t forget to check back later for more DT projects, until then, take care,

~ Linda ~

Birthday Boy – Boho Dreams

Hi Everyone,

for my second project this month using Boho Dreams from Kaisercraft features the Dreamcatcher die cut paper.

Layout 15thFirst I adhered it to Free and trimmed around the edge with sharp scissors. Next, I cut a large circle from the centre of Wild (to save paper and also as I wanted to use the roses!) then stuck the two together and inked the edge with Faded Jeans.

Layout 2This is how the back looks – had I aligned it better this side could be decorated too.

Layout 6I wanted it to look as though the dreamcatcher had caught things so I cut my photo into a circle @ 3 3/4″ with a matt @ 4 1/4″ from Feathers and placed centrally with mounting foam tape (i should have shares in this the amount I use!)

Layout 4The Sticker sheet has lots of lovely feathers on it so I added paper to the back to reduce the stick, then tucked them into the pattern of the dreamcatcher and under the edge of the photo with the ends raised on foam at varying levels.

Layout 3These are the roses cut from the centre of Wild, cut out and layered with some extra leaves from the Collectables.

Layout 5Back to the Sticker Sheet for the word Smile which I stuck across the photo, plus a sentence which I divided and wove into the mesh. I edged the whole thing with a black micron pen as this adds depth, then a liberal splash of stickles and gems to finish.

Check back soon for more DT projects, until then, take care,

~ Linda ~

Boho Chic – Boho Dreams

Hi Everyone,

hope you are all well

The Merly Impressions retreat was last weekend, what a fabulous time we had – Thanks to Chrissy, Paul, Merley and Aman for all their hardwork!

For July I have the pleasure of working with BOHO Dreams collection from Kaisercraft and my first project was to make two cards.

40 DPI 3Both are 7×7″ square and were made as follows:

40DPIThe paper pad collection is perfect for card making and I love having a small white frame when using cards slightly larger. My base is Wanderer which I have left whole and inked the edges with Dried Marigold and a blending tool – don’t you just love these!

DPI 40 5Next came a circle @ 4 1/4″ cut from the reverse of Wanderer – the great thing about the paper pad is the are not double sided so you have more of each design.

Next the Collectables which have these lovely girlie images, she has been raised on mounting foam tape, then the frame over the top with a double layer of foam tape.

40 DPI 4I then added lots of feathers from The Collectables plus a spray of flowers and a message. They have been raised with various layers of foam tape to create a lot of dimension. Finally some stickles – we all need a little sparkle in our lives!

40 DPI 2Card two was created using Free as the background, with the woodgrain of Bohemian paper cut to 1″ strips and added around the edge to create a frame raised on foam tape. Pieces of Daydreamer and Free were cut to 3 x 3 1/2″ and placed inside at angles, topped with another lady from the Collectables and a raised frame.

dpi 40 7The other elements are also from the Collectables and have been layered with foam tape again at variable levels for definition.

dpi 40 6Thank-you for taking the time to read this post, please check back again soon for more projects from the DT.

Until then, take care,

~ Linda ~

True Love – Always and Forever

Hello Everyone,

Linda here with another layout using the fabulous Always and Forever from Kaisercraft.

IMG_1018 smallI started with some Vanilla Kaisercard and one of my favourite Martha Stewart deep edge punches. This was layered onto Commitment which I gutted 2″ from the edge.

IMG_1021 smallMy photograph is 4×4″ square, matted with Licorice Kaisercard and Champagne Glitter card, and placed onto a 7″ square of Lovable, using the floral edge at the bottom and an 8″ square of Promise.

IMG_1020 smallI cut a doily from the Crochet gloss paper and tinted it with distress ink, then placed under the top right of the photo matts with a doily and sentiment from the Collectables.

IMG_1022 smallA lovely Lacey strip was added from the sticker sheet and a sentiment matted the same as my photo – this was raised on mounting foam tape.  Lots of beautiful roses were then cut from Eternal, shaped and raised on mounting foam tape, underneath my photograph. A sprinkling of Stickles to enhance.

IMG_1019 smallA smaller cluster was added top right of the photo. To finish I added gems to the outside punched edge, and some Sparklets to my photo matts.

Thank-you for taking the time to read, don’t forget to check back later for more beautiful pages from the DT.

Until then, take care,

Love is – Always and Forever

Hello Everyone,

Linda here with a card this time.

The Collectables with the Always and Forever  Kaisercraft collection have the most beautiful roses which cried out to be layered up and I decided to focus on these for my project.

IMG_1023 smallThe card base is 7 1/2″ square and I began with a piece of Commitment  7 1/4″ to leave a small border. Lovable was trimmed to 6×6″ and matted onto Coconut Kaisercard again with a small border. I  added a strip of lace from Sticker sheet across the middle and a doily  and sentiment from the Collectables. This was raised with some mounting foam tape.

IMG_1025 smallI cut a doily from the Collectables in half and placed bottom right and top left.

Next came lots of the roses which I have shaped and added with layers of mounting foam tape, plus a liberal amount of Stickles. Plus a love letter, also from the Collectables.

IMG_1024 smallBut, then I decided to change tack, I added 2 small black ad white photos of my husband and I and another smaller doily from the Collectables, put it in a frame and now it’s on my wall!

IMG_1031 smallCheck back later for more inspiration from the team, until then, take care,

Truly Madly Deeply – Always and Forever

Hi Everyone,

Linda here with a layout using the beautiful Always and Forever by Kaisercraft. Is it just me or do you all want to sing the song now? (Must be my age lol!)

Anyway, I wanted to focus on the stamp set this time as it has the most beautiful rose image.

IMG_1012 smallI began with a sheet of Kaisercard in vanilla and stamped the bottom right corner with “always and forever” (singing again!” in black archival ink using the stamp set, plus “xo” around the edge. (XO = hugs and kisses in case you were unsure not OXO cubes 🙂 )

On a piece of smooth white card, I stamped “you + me” plus the rose six times. I tinted the words with Antique Linen Distress ink and trimmed, the roses were coloured with Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin, Dried Marigold, Peeled Paint and Forest Moss – blended together with a water brush. I left these aside to dry.

IMG_1013 smallOnto the papers now, I cut Romance 8×6″ and matted with 1/4″ border onto Kaisercard Licorice. Have you seen the stunning glitter card? Wow! I cut a piece of Champagne 6×6″ and backed it with Licorice also – in fact everything has been! Then a piece of Admire 5×6″. My photo is 4×4″.

IMG_1014 smallI cut two roses out in full, then just the bud and finally one petal, these were layered using mounting foam. I also cut extra leaves, one set to layer and one to embellish.

IMG_1016 smallA quick spritz of Antique Gold Kaisermist diagonally onto the Vanilla base, then I was ready to place all the layers. You can see they have been overlapped in blocks – I love the black borders as they separate and define the beautiful papers.

Truly Madly Deeply is from the Sticker sheet and I had to have more bling, so layered this and the “you + me” I’d stamped onto the Champagne and also Licorice, then theses were raised on mounting foam and placed onto the page to “anchor” down the roses and extra leaves.

Finally a touch of glitter pen to the rose petal and a couple of Coral Sparklets and I was done.

Thank-you for taking the time to read this, check back later for more inspiration from the DT.

Until then, take care,

~Linda~

Silly Selfies! with Fly Free

Hi Everyone,

Linda here with my last layout using the vibrant Fly Free collection from Kaisercraft. I’ve had a lot of fun with this paper pack and accessories and this time I’ve focused on the Collectables and the fabulous new gel & sparkle pens.IMG_0939 smallSo, I began with a sheet of Coconut Kaisercard, an absolute staple, and added a strip of Gal Pal from the paper pack measuring 13 x 29 cm which I faux stitched with a black glitter pen, to the left hand side. You can see the shimmer in the photo below, they are delicious!.

IMG_0922 smallMy photo’s were printed as a photo-strip using an app on my phone called Mphotobooth but you could always use small photos and mount them onto white card. I added a matt of Coconut Kaisercard and “stitched” this edge too.

IMG_0943 smallOnce placed onto the Gal Pal, I added other strips of paper  15 x 4 cm from the paper pack to the right. I doodled around the inside and outside edges of these using a combination of patterns using the fabulous pens in a variety of colours. To be honest, photographs do not do them any justice – trust me!

IMG_0925 smallThere are some lovely elements in the Collectables and I found these banners with fun sentiments which, after more “stitching” I added to the strips, raised using mounting tape.

IMG_0942 smallI trimmed a couple of flowers from the Collectables too and stuck them top and bottom, followed by some beautiful butterflies which have been shaped with wings raised using the mounting tape too. A little sparkle was added with the glitter pens.

IMG_0944 smallThe Collectables pack has lots of gorgeous butterflies so more were added to the left of the photo too.

IMG_0940 smallAnd of course beautiful blooms and leaves which I shaped and placed along the bottom.

IMG_0941 smallTo finish I ran another line of “stitching” all around the edge of the page and a copious amount of Hot Pink Rhinestones.

Thank-you for taking the time to read – lots more exciting things to come next month so don’t forget to check back in a couple of days!

Until then, take care,

~ Linda ~
