So Thankful For You

Hello, Karen here with my second project using the ScrapBoys Butterfly Meadow collecton and Uniqolour brush markers.

For this layout I started by scribbling with a Uniqolour marker on a small plastic bag, using a colour that co-ordinated with my papers.

I then sprayed it with some water

And dabbed it, in a diagonal line, onto a piece of smooth white card, repeating this process with two more colours and set aside to dry. I am using this for the base of my layout.   I use the same technique on another piece of smooth white card but this time covered the whole piece of card.  This piece will be used for stamping butterflies.

Onto the piece of card I am using for my layout base I added some roses using the 6 x 4 Roses Mini Designer Template and some texture paste.

I cut a piece of Butterfly Meadow Paper 01 that measured 12ins tall and 4ins wide and another 4 ins tall and 4.5ins wide.  I used a border punch on each of the long sides of the 4 in piece.  After layering the 4 in piece onto the 5 in piece I added them to my page 2.5ins from the right.

Next, using Smoke Kaiserink, I stamped lots of butterflies onto the piece of card that I had covered with Uniqolour splodges and fussy cut and die cut them out.

For my photo mat, from the reverse side, I cut a 5.25 square from Paper 03 and a 5.5 square from Paper 04.  I used foam mounting dots to layer these up with my photo on the top, keeping the pads away from the edges of the paper and photo, and added to my page 3ins from the top and 2ins from the right.

I used Paper 03 and the Layered Rose decorative dies to cut some roses and the Paper 04 and Décor Flourish decorative die to cut some flourishes. I inked the edges of the roses with Smoke Kaiserink before layering them up and added Orange Rhinestones to the centre of each one.

To complete my page I added a rose at the top left and bottom right of my photo and then clustered butterflies either side of the vertical strip of paper.  I used my Silhouette and Paper 03 and Paper 04. to make my title.

It was fun making my own inky background and a really easy way to achieve striking results.

Perfect Day with Sunkissed

Hello, Karen here with another scrapbook page using Sunkissed – which may well be my favourite range this year, to date.  I knew I wanted to do something with the glorious wreath on the  the Martini paper and thought it was worth sacrificing all the phrases on the front to fussy cut this out.
Perfect Day

I also fussy cut the smaller wreath from the Pineapple Sour paper along with the two butterflies from this paper too and used pieces cut from Pina Colada,  and Tutti Fruitti.

IMG_3298

I started by trimming .25 in from all sides of a piece of Coconut paper and adding this to some Coal weave Kaisercard. I then mounted a 5in x 5.5in photo onto another piece of Coal weave Kaisercard and added to the centre of my page.

Onto this I added the large, fussy cut wreath.  I added a photo cut from a 4 x 6in one to the smaller wreath and this was placed at the bottom right of my a page.

IMG_3306

To finish my page I added flowers to the three remaining corners and dotted my butterflies about my page.  I had previously added Stickles to the bodies of my butterflies to give them a little sparkle.  All that was needed to finish my page was to add the ‘Perfect Day’ arrow from the Collectables pack.

Perfect Day

I hope I have inspired you to try using this lovely wreath on one of your scrapbook pages/.

Tranquillity – with Uniquely Creative Tropical Dreams & Sea Blue

Hi Everyone, today I am sharing with you a layout I’ve created using papers from the beautiful Tropical Dreams & Sea Blue Uniquely Creative collections. I just love this photo of Merley sitting looking out to sea, it is very peaceful – I hope we can go back there one day.

Products Used: – UCP1776, Sea Blue Paper Pack – UCP-SBCS, Sea blue Cut-a-part Sheet – UCP2021, Paradise Paper x 2 – UCP2028, Ocean Breeze Paper x 2 – UCP2027, Vitamin Sea Paper, UCE1724, Crystal Rhinestones – Cinnamon Kaisercard

I started by layering up all my base papers, once I decided which ones to use I then cut out a circle from the centre of the top two, for the inner rim of the circle I added a layer of brown card.

I love to fussy cut all my embellishments from the papers, so spend a few evenings fussy cutting all the flowers from the Tropical Dreams papers.

…….and some elements from the Cut-a-part Sheet

You can add and layer as much as you like, I like to make my layouts more 3D, so I add lots of layers to my flowers, I have even doubled up on the Sea Horses. You do not need to do all the layering if you like to store your layouts in an album.

As you can see from this photo, I have layered up this flower three times, getting smaller in size until the centre piece, I also like to shape my elements, I love the overall look.

You can find even more close-ups of my layout over on my Instagram page – The Fussy Cutter

Happy crafting!!!!!

Flamingo Fun with Sunkissed by Kaisercraft

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a fun layout that focusses the pink flamingos and pink flowers of the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. The irony of this layout and the photo is that flamingos can’t fly and neither can I, no matter how much we try! I enjoyed adding a couple of mixed media techniques to this layout too. MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 1

To create this layout I have followed the steps below:

  1. Cut DAQUIRI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION down to 24.5 x 24.5 cm (keeping off cuts) and distress edges with a PAPER DISTRESSER. Using a blending tool, ink KAISERINK PAD – FLAMINGO though TINY TRIANGLES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL down the right side of DAQUIRI and a little bit in the top left corner as well.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 2
  2. Colour some TEXTURE PASTE with KAISERCOLOUR PAINT – BLACK 75ML and transfer through the long palm frond in the TROPICAL LEAVES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL onto DAQUIRI.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 3
  3. Trim COCONUT – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to 30.5 x 30.5 cm, KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 26.5 x 26.5 cm and KAISERCARD LIPSTICK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 25.5 x 25.5 cm, keep the off cuts. Distress edges and adhere INK to COCONUT, and LIPSTICK to INK.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 4
  4. Take all the off cuts and select the widest of each paper. Trim to 24.5 cm long. Rip the edges of DAQUIRI. Rip INK and LIPSTICK in half.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 5
  5. Adhere DAQUIRI to LIPSTICK. Layer and adhere the ripped strips on the right side of the layout.
  6. Prepare a photo mat by cutting KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 11.2 x 11.2 cm and the pink striped sheet from PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to 10.5 x 10.5 cm. adhere to each other and to the layout in the top right corner.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 6
  7. Adhere photo with dimensions 9.8 x 9.8 cm to the photo mat. Fussy cut the distinct pink flowers from the PAPER PAD, TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION, and take them from the COLLECTABLES – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to cluster them in the top corners of the layout.
  8. Further embellish with COLLECTABLES, CHEESECLOTH GAUZE and RHINESTONES – HOT PINK.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 10

Double Trouble in Paradise with Sunkissed by Kaisercraft

Hello Merly Impressions fans,

Today I would like to share with you a fun, multi-photo, double layout that I created using the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. I went for a fairly simple layout with few layers this time, however I add a little bit of fun mixed media. This is the perfect layout practice mixed media with because most of the back ground is covered in photos and any mistakes with it! Or if you love the background, you can simply use less photos. I have tried to capture a weekend trip to Palma, Mallorca, with this layout.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture1

To create this double layout I have used the instructions below:

  1. Take two sheets of KAISERCARD SNOW WEAVE CARDSTOCK and cut into three pieces 27.5, 24 and 4 cm wide and all 24 cm high.
  2. Take the smallest piece and add a leaf pattern by inking though TROPICAL LEAVES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL, using an ink blending tool with KAISERINK PAD – FOREST and KAISERINK PAD – BLUE HAZEMIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture2
  3. Apply Distress Oxide- Lucky Clover, Distress Oxide- Mermaid Lagoon and Distress Ink- Peacock Feathers to an INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET, spray with some water. Dip paper into the ink, repeat until you are happy with how it looks.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture3
  4. Take the two larger SNOW pieces and tape together behind. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on this larger section. MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture4
  5. Splatter with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – NAVY 50ML.
  6. Take two sheets of MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and trim off the bottom strips. From the centre of one, cut out a piece to use as a 11 x 14.1 cm photo frame for later. Tape MOJITO’s together create a double layout size. Using a rounded corner punch, punch the outside corners of the inked SNOW page and the double MOJITO. Adhere SNOW to MOJITO.
  7. Take the pre-prepared 4 cm SNOW strip and adhere to the left side of the layout. To the centre of this strip adhere the bottom strips from DAQUIRI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTIONFOAM TAPE the bottom strip from MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION onto the top of the other bottom strips.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture5
  8. Cut leaves from LEMON LIME – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and foam tape the section of three leaves together to the left side of the layout and the large single leaf to the bottom right.
  9. Prepare 4 photo mats with dimensions of 10.7 x 10.7 cm from the zig-zag and green spotted sheets from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED. Adhere 4 photos with dimensions of 9.8 x 9.8 cm. Adhere the 4 matted photos to the centre of the layout.
  10. Take pre-prepared photo frame from Step 6, adhere to photo (10 x13 cm) and adhere to the right side on the layout on top of the large leaf.
  11. Take the leaves (with same shape as in Step 9) from the COLLECTABLES – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and cut them from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION. Tuck and glue them under various photo corners.

Paradise with Sunkissed

Hello, Karen here with another layout using the amazingly fun and colourful Sunkissed range for which I had the perfect photo of Gracia from a few years ago.

With the lockdown in progress I found I had loads of time on my hands for some fussy cutting and this range provides ample opportunity for this.  So I settled down to watch a film and fussy cut all the elements from Pina Colada, Pineapple Sour and Tutti Fruitti. Although, I knew I wouldn’t use all of these on one layout I would have them prepared for future projects.

Paradise

I started this layout with a piece of Lime Weave Kaisercard and onto this I added a piece of Long Island paper which I had trimmed .25in from the bottom and right. I then added a sheet of green polka dot paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad. Next I fussy cut the flower borders from a piece of paper from the  6.5 x 6.5 paper pad which matched the Long Island paper and added this to the left of the polka dot paper.

IMG_3375

To the right and left of my page I added some of my fussy cut elements along with some pieces from the Collectables pack.

IMG_3377

Next I used the Clear Stamps  and black ink to stamp some additional butterflies onto the pineapple paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and fussy cut these out too.

IMG_3372

They were then tucked in and around my two large clusters on either side of my page.

To finish my page I added the word Paradise and and two phrases – from the Collectables pack and a ticket from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad .

IMG_3379

The final touch was to add the wording from the branding strip of the Pineapple Sour paper.

Hope you all stay safe and are able to take your mind of things with a little crafting

We Just Knew We Were Having Fun with Native Breeze

Hello, Karen here with my first layout using Native Breeze from Kaisercraft.  Now I was a little unsure of this paper range as I thought I would struggle as it is very ‘Australian’ but no – it was a ‘breeze’ (see what I did there) to work with and I was able to make pages that I was really happy with.
We Didn't Realise

I started by spending a happy afternoon cutting all the flowers from two sheets of Wattle Flower, one sheet of Banksia Bouquet and the corresponding paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.  I then had plenty of flowers for my layout with some to spare.

I cut a piece of  the remaining Wattle Flower to six inches tall and added it to the centre of a piece of Ink Weave Kaisercard. next I added a 4 in piece of Pink Protea (mustard side showing) and finally to the centre of this added a 3 in piece of Flowering.  I finished this central strip with rows of stitching to the top and bottom of both the Wattle Flower and Pink Protea.   My 3in x 4in photo was placed centrally onto this.

IMG_2674

The flowers cut from Wattle Flower were added to the top left and bottom right of my cardstock with the straight edges aligning to the corners of the page.  I then extended my clusters across the page using some of the flowers I had fussy cut from Banksia Bouquet and the corresponding paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and some leaves and flowers form the Collectables Pack.

IMG_2669

Note – the rectangle of paper with hexagons is not from this range but I was using it to decide on my photo size and placement

I added two parrots from the Collectables Pack to the top right and bottom left of my central strips of paper and finished by using the wording from the bottom of the sheet of Pink Protea as my title.

IMG_2789

I think that the vibrant pinks and yellows of this range look gorgeous against a black background.

Kookaburra with Native Breeze by Kaisercraft

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today I would like to share a very Ozzie themed layout with you. I have created it using the NATIVE BREEZE Collection by Kaisercraft. The main theme of my layout is the Australian native bird- the Kookaburra. This bird has a very distinctive call which sounds like laughing. They are white and brown with gorgeous blue/green patches of features in the wings, as you can see clearly in the featured photograph. My lovely and very talented friend Gaby took this stunning photo. I have also focussed on the Ozzie colours for this layout- go green and gold!
MIDT2020-02 Native Breeze by Kaisercraft - Kookaburra Image 1

To create this layout I have followed the steps below:

  1.  Cut a strip of KAISERCARD CINNAMON WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 30.5 x 21 cm. Punch along the top and bottom using your favourite border punch. Measure ~0.5 cm under the pattern and create stitching holes using the SEW EASY STITCH PIERCER. Use teal coloured DMC thread and sew through holes. Using a PAPER DISTRESSER to distress the unpunched edges.
  2. Take SUNDOWN – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION and trim the bottom to 30.5 x 12 cm. Distress short edges and adhere ~1.5 cm from the stitching on the bottom of the cinnamon strip.
  3. Splatter KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – GOLD SHIMMER 50ML onto the prepared strip.
MIDT2020-02 Native Breeze by Kaisercraft - Kookaburra Image 2
  4. Take the bottom strip from BANKSIA BOUQUET – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION and adhere across the top of the brown strip ~1 cm from the top stitching. Take a yellow and a white sticker strip from the STICKER BOOK – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION and adhere to the top of the large green section, on both sides.
MIDT2020-02 Native Breeze by Kaisercraft - Kookaburra Image 3
  5. Take PINK PROTEA – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION, remove bottom strip and distress edges. From the middle, cut a piece from the middle 12 x 9.5 cm to frame your photo later. Using spare cardboard or foam tape, adhere your pre-prepared strip ~3.5 cm from the bottom.
MIDT2020-02 Native Breeze by Kaisercraft - Kookaburra Image 4
Take photo with dimensions of 15.2 x 10.2 cm frame with pre-cut Pink Protea piece, KAISERCARD CINNAMON WEAVE CARDSTOCK (16 x 10.8 cm), SUNDOWN – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION (15.5 x 11.3 cm) and white wattle page from the PAPER PAD – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION (11.3 x 16.5 cm), distress all framing pieces. Adhere matted photo to the layout ~3 cm from the top and 5.5 cm from the left of layout. I have also added a Uniquely Creative laser cut word to my photo frame. I have prepared it by inking in KAISERINK PAD – CHOCOLATE and covering it with Rangers Glossy Accents. MIDT2020-02 Native Breeze by Kaisercraft - Kookaburra Image 5
  6. Take 2 x ~40 cm teal coloured DMC thread and pull out each individual thread, curl them up and glue around the edges of the central green strip of your layout. Also add some to the top left of the photo, as a base for a small embellishment cluster. Adhere a second  BANKSIA BOUQUET – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION bottom strip (with distressed edges) using foam tape to the bottom edge of the green strip, to help hold the thread in place.MIDT2020-02 Native Breeze by Kaisercraft - Kookaburra Image 6
  7. Fussy cut the Kookaburra birds and matching leaves from NATIVE FLOCK – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION. Take these same items from the COLLECTABLES – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION. Adhere in the areas where the curly thread in located to help hold it down further.
  8. Embellish further with RHINESTONES – NAVY and the Kookaburra CURIOS – NATIVE BREEZE COLLECTION.

  9. Additionally, I do plan to sell this layout to raise money for helping Australia recovery from the nasty bushfires that ravaged a lot of the country over summer. If you are interested please contact me at roxiiscraftstudio@gmail.com, via Facebook at roxiiscraftstudio, or at the March Crop where you can also see it in real life. Just a reminder that I am also selling my cards which can be found at Australian Bushfire Recovery- Card Sale on Facebook Xx.

I hope you enjoyed reading all about how I created this very Australian themed layout!

Together with Native Breeze

Hello, Karen here with my second project using the very colourful Native Breeze collection. For this layout I wanted to focus on all the lovely sentiments from the Southern Sky cut-a-part paper.

together

I started by gutting a 1 inch frame from the reverse of Gum Leaves. I then trimmed the Native Flock paper down to an 11 in square and adhered this to the Gum Leaves frame.  Finally I added the piece of Gum Leaves that I had gutted from the middle of the frame.  I then used black embroidery thread to stitch around the Native Flock Paper.

Once my stitching was complete, I started to build up my page by adding the four 3in squares from Southern Sky to a piece of red paper, from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, and placing this in the centre of my page. My photos were then added.

IMG_2800

I added as many pieces, cut from Southern Sky, to my page as I could fit, choosing the ones that fitted best with my two photos.  To complete this part of my layout I filled in any gaps with word phrases from the Sticker Book and Collectables Pack.

On either side of my central block I added flowers cut from Banksia Bouquet and the corrisponding page from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, using flowers and leaves from the Collectables Pack to fill in any gaps and to extend my clusters at the top and bottom of each spray.

IMG_2798 IMG_2797

For my title I used the word ‘Together’ – from the Collectables Pack along with a geotag at either end and a flower underneath, these were also from the Collectables Pack.

IMG_2796

Finally I added two Collectables circles and a curio to the middle of my page.

IMG_2795

Using the  Southern Sky cut-a-parts was a lovely way to document two of my favourite family photos.

Favourite Day with Native Breeze

Hello, Karen here with my third page using Native Breeze.  I was particularly struck by the gorgeous Sundown paper in this range and wanted to use it to showcase a photo of my daughter and her partner, when they got engaged in Italy on a beach at sunset.

Favourite Day

I started by trimming 5ins from the top and .5 in from the right of the Sundown paper. I then stuck this to the top of a piece of Shadow Weave Kaisercard leaving a .25 border at the top and both sides.

Next I tore 4 in piece of the reverse of Eucalyptus paper, vertically – to give it an uneven top, trimmed .5 in from one side and added to the bottom of my page to give the illusion of a landscape similar to that of my chosen photo.

I double mounted my photo onto two pieces of paper taken from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and added this to my page, slightly overlapping the torn piece at the bottom.

IMG_2831

At the top right of my photo I tucked a phrase from the  Southern Sky paper with a ticket phrase from the Collectables Pack at the top right and bottom left of the  Southern Sky phrase.

Under my photo I placed two border stickers, a large circular phrase sticker and seven pennant stickers in an arc – all from the Sticker Book.

IMG_2830

The cluster at the top left of my photo was made up of leaves, flowers and birds, from the Collectables Pack, along with a flower cut from Banksia Bouquet paper and two fern leaves, die cut using a die similar to this one and a piece of Eucalyptus paper .

IMG_2832

My title ‘Favourite Day’, also from the Collectables Pack was added to the bottom left of my photo and as a final flourish I added a Rose Pearl to each of the banner stickers.

Favourite Day

This was the perfect paper for the perfect photo.
