Seaside Adventures with Uncharted Waters

Hello, Karen here with the first of my projects using Uncharted Waters. It seems strange working with seaside photos when its cold and frosty outside!  For my first project I decided to use an embroidery hoop as a frame for my home decore – I have seen several of these used in this way recently, and was itching to have a go.

IMG_1351 I cut a circle from Pelagic which was .5 inch larger than my inside hoop. To this I added a torn piece of Seashore to the bottom, I though this would look like sand.   Than I snipped all around the edge of the circle and secured it into my hoop.

I used White Iridescent Kaisermist to add splatters all over the papers.

IMG_1309

I placed a frame, from the collectables pack, to the top left of my photo and  a ‘Wild and Free’ sticker from the Sticker Book.

I then used phrases from the collectables pack and the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to create a cluster at the top left of my photo, finishing the cluster with a curio.

IMG_1353

On the top left of my frame I used starfish and shells from the collectables pack and the Sticker Book.  I used a die, from my own stash, to cut some ‘seaweed’ from a page out of the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.

IMG_1352

At the bottom of my frame I used collectables and wooden fluorishes, which were raised on foam pads, together with two more pieces of seaweed.

IMG_1354

Finally I used a phrase from the Shallows paper for my title.

IMG_1356

I really enjoyed making this project and can’t wait to show you what I have made for my second project this month.

Until than I hope you can find some crafty time and I hope I have inspired you to try something different with the Uncharted Waters collection.

Traveller’s Notebook with Breathe

Hello,

Karen here with my last project using the Breathe collection from Kaisercraft. This time I decided to experiment with a Travelers Notebook.  I have wanted to use one of these for ages and bought a set of three, complete with a leather cover.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this small scale scrapbooking and most certainly will be doing much more of it.

Exploding Box with Rosabella

Hello,
Karen here with my last project using the beautiful Rosabella collection. I have made a hexagonal exploding box and am thrilled with the results.  Be warned this post is very photo heavy.

IMG_5903

For this project I have used Coal cardstock (4 sheets),  6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, Collectables, Clear Stamps, Wooden Flourishes, Decorative Die – Rose and Leaves, Kaiserink Pad – Licorice and paper blooms in Black and Dusty Pink.

I cut my box from Coal cardstock on my Silhouette from a design I had made several years ago but there is a tutorial for making a similar box here.  Once I had made my box I and lid I used papers from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to cover the top of the lid, base of the bottom and the pages.

IMG_5907

I then used some more pages from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to stamp the lace pattern from the Clear Stamps set, using Kaiserink Pad – Licorice , and used these to cover the sides of my lid.IMG_5905

I decorated my pages with tags and sentiments from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and flowers from the Collectables pack.
IMG_5908
IMG_5909 IMG_5910 IMG_5911 IMG_5912 IMG_5913 IMG_5914 IMG_5915 IMG_5916

I used the Clear Stamps and Kaiserink Pad – Licorice  to stamp some butterflies and added them on strips of acetate to the bottom of my box and then decorated with Black and Dusty Pink paper blooms, I used the Decorative Die – Rose and Leaves to cut leaves from 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and tucked these around the flowers .

IMG_5917

Finally, I used more die cut leaves and Black and Dusty Pink paper blooms to decorate the top of the lid adding Wooden Flourishes to finish off.

I loved making this and am going to add photos of my daughter as a Mother’s Day present for my mother-in-law.

See you again next month

Christmas Home Decor with Peace and Joy

Hello,

Karen here with the first of my projects for October using the beautiful Peace and Joy collection which is very traditional in its colouring with a watercolor feel to all the papers.  You can see the unboxing of my DT goodies in the YouTube here.

IMG_4197

For this project I decided to use the collection with a Large Heart Silhouette Wall Art off the page (on special offer at the moment and only £7.97).  I think my project would have been better if I had painted the frame with Gesso first as I will explain later in this post.

The frame comes in three pieces – a square back, a square with a heart cut out and a heart.  I started by covering the square back with the spot side of Festivity.   I then drew around the heart onto a piece of Ruby Glitter Cardstock and cut the heart out.  The heart frame was then added to the square with the heart cut out.  I found that the card was reluctant to stick to the wood and this is when I thought it would have been better to have primed the wood with a little gesso.

IMG_4173

After I had stuck the card to the cut out heart I then put double sided tape around the outside of the frame and the heart shape and added red glitter tape to this.

IMG_4172

Finally, I covered the heart with the stripy side of Gladness. I used foam tape to stick the heart to the top right of the glitter frame.

IMG_4174

As I wanted to be able to change the photo on this project each year I made four photo corners from the scraps of red glitter card and added a 6 x 4 in piece of white card as placement for my photograph.

Next I cut lots of flowers from Cheer and Merry papers and from the corresponding papers from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad.  I also cut the birds from one of the 6.5 x 6.5 papers.

I placed the Leafy Wreath die cut so that my heart was tucked underneath on the top left but over the top on the right.  I did have to snip it apart to make it lay flat.

IMG_4175

The fussy cut flowers and birds were placed around the wreath with a few added to the bottom left of the frame.  I added some black rhinestones and a couple of tags from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad.

IMG_4196 IMG_4191 IMG_4190

So there we have it – a lovely piece of home decor to get out every Christmas and add my favourite photograph from the year before.

I will be back soon with my next project using this lovely collection.

Mini album with Anthology

Hi everyone,

Denise here with a little mini album using the Anthology collection.

IMG_2520-resized-banner2

I loved all the gorgeous little butterflies and phrases in this collection and really wanted to include them in a little book.

I used Kraft card for the book, cutting four pieces measuring 6 x 9 inches. They were then folded in half. Next thing was to open out each piece, then adhere one right hand back side to one front left side of each, making the book. I cut a piece of card measuring 2 x 6 inches to make the spine. Before I covered the front and back pages, I stuck a piece of ribbon to each side with some strong tape.

This collection has so many gorgeous little sayings and illustrations it was perfect to sit and cut out lots of butterflies and phrases.

I made some tags from the Kraft card and stamped some butterflies and sentiments using Kaisercraft  stamps as below

DIAMONDS

Clear Stamp - Diamonds

TIMELESS

Clear Stamp - Timeless, Botanical

Everything I used for the mini album was inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink I used a combination of papers from the 6×6 pad to cover my pages, together with some of the Collectables.

I also used stickers from the Sticker Sheet to embellish the book.IMG_2503IMG_2502

Life is Better with You layout with Memory lane

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here today with my last post for June. This week I decided to design my own background paper, using pattern papers from Kaisercraft’s Memory Lane collection (available at Merly Impressions’ online store).

MI-better-with-you-web530

For my background I used two pattern papers – Jade Jewel and Raw Wood. To distress their edges I used Paper distresser and a piercing tool. First I adhered the panel from the Raw Wood pattern paper on a Kaisercard Kraft Cardstock. Using Waffle 6×6 Designer Stencil and Texture Paste, I created the white dimensional pattern. Then I adhered the second pattern paper panel using Kaisercraft 12mm Double-sided Tape and sprinkled  KaiserMist Spray Ink – Antique Gold and White on top.MI-life-is-better-det-a MI-life-is-better-det-b

I decided to use half of the gorgeous Shutters die-cut paper as a ‘frame’ for my picture and sentiments. I added cut-off quotes, fussy cut flowers from a glossy pattern paper from the Paper pad and pre-cut embellishments from the Collectables Pack. I adhered everything to the background using Mounting Foam Tape.

MI-better-with-you-det-c MI-better-with-you-det-d MI-better-with-you-det-e

To decorate my page further I added flower clusters using Paper Blooms – Sage and Mini Paper Blooms – Coconut. To die cut the foliage I used Kaisercraft Decorative Die Mini Foliage, Kaisercard Coconut Weave Cardstock and greenish pattern paper.

For the sentiment next to the ‘frame’ I used pattern paper from the Paper pad and from the Lakeside pattern paper

As a final touch I added Rhinestones – Mint Green, Rhinestones – Silver and Pearls – Pearl.

I hope I managed to inspire you today!

Keep creating!

Inspirational Journal with Memory lane

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here today with a brand new creation to share with you. As you may remember from my previous post, this month I have the pleasure to design with Kaisercraft’s most recent collection Memory Lane (available at Merly Impressions’ online store).

This collection has an amazing Shutters die-cut paper. I decided to use a part from this paper and many lovely quotes to decorate the front of a custom-made inspirational journal.

MI-journal-web530For my background I used a  panel from Villawood pattern paper, slightly bigger than the front cover of a normal notepad. I inked its edges with Ink Pad – Bark, distressed its edges using Paper distresser and a piercing tool. Then I adhered the pattern paper using Kaisercraft 12mm Double-sided Tape.

I added a cut-off quote at the bottom of the cover and stamped the brown pattern using Ink Pad – Bark and Clear Stamp – Diamonds.

MI-journal-det-a

While waiting for the ink to dry, I cut off a similar size panel from the Shutters die-cut paper, adhered White Lace behind the ‘windows’ and adhered it using Mounting Foam Tape to the background.

I took the quotes from the Lakeside pattern paper and the Paper padMI-journal-det-c MI-journal-det-b

To decorate the front cover, I used pre-cut elements from the Collectables Pack and the Paper pad. I shaped the green blossoms with an Embossing Tool and adhered them around my design using Mounting Foam Dots.MI-journal-det-d MI-journal-det-eAs a final touch I added Pearls – Pearl  and wooden shapes from Flourish Pack – Antiques.MI-journal-det-f MI-journal-det-g

I hope I managed to inspire you today!

Have a wonderful creative week!

Afternoon Tea with Fleur

Hello everyone,

Denise here with my third project using the Fleur Kaisercraft collection. My brief was to make a 3d project so I decided to make a little fold up book. These are not new and you can find instructions on the internet, but I will explain how to make it in this post.

IMG_1036 resized-banner

Using White  Kaisercard  cut three 15cm squares and Ballet cardstock cut two 8cm squares. Make sure the squares are accurate so that the book folds neatly.

IMG_0872

Take the three white squares and fold each one in half  widthways then fold again lengthways and open out.

IMG_0873

Next, fold diagonally just once then line the three squares up as shown below with the diagonal line going vertically and one corner square of each overlapping the next one. Apply glue to the three overlapping squares and stick together.

IMG_0875

IMG_0874

Now pinch the top horizontal folds inwards, the middle outwards and bottom inwards then press the top and bottom squares down flat.IMG_0876 IMG_0877

Stick the pink squares to the top and bottom squares as the covers. Now the book is made, time to decorate it with your photos and papers.

IMG_0880

I used papers from the  6.5 x 6.5  paper pad  and stickers from the Sticker Sheet  and Collectables Pack  to decorate together with photographs. The triangles were made from  7cm squares that are cut in half diagonally. My photos were also 7cm square ( I cut mine down from ones that measured 6×4 inches )

IMG_0881

IMG_1039

IMG_1040

This is a really cute little book and quite effective when folded and opened. Once you get the idea you could adapt it as a larger one too.

I really enjoyed making this and hope you like it !

Twinchies with Misty Mountains

Hello everyone,

Something a bit different today with these little Twinchies using the Misty Mountains collection.

IMG_0135-resizedbanner

My brief was to make a 3d project so I decided to do some of these little squares. These particular ones are two inches square hence them being called Twinchies.

IMG_0119

First off I covered each one of them with a paper from the 6×6 pad

IMG_0121

Next I stamped some butterflies from the ‘Butterflies’ stamp onto some of the papers, cut them out then mounted them on to the covered twinchies.

IMG_0123IMG_0131

IMG_0132

I die cut various little flowers and leaves and used stickers from the Sticker Sheet and Collectables all mounted on to foam tape to embellish them together with some wine  and lilac gems

To finish off I dotted around some of the edges with a white pen, and used an Orchid mini ink pad to edge round them all.

IMG_0135-resized

I really enjoyed doing these for a change, they come together quite quickly and are really fun to do

Mixed Media tag with Havana Nights

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here with my last post for February. This time I decided to go mixed-media creating a tag featuring Kaisercraft’s Havana Nights collection (available at Merly Impressions’ online store).MI-mixed-media-tag-web-530And here is a short tutorial on how I did it:

MI-mixed-media-tag-det-a (1)For the base of my tag I used a ready-made tag from Ranger. I added colour to it by blending Distress Ink Pad – Tea Dye with Distress Ink Pad – Vintage Photo. MI-mixed-media-tag-det-a (2)Then I picked two of the pattern papers from the Havana Nights collection, Ferns and Clay, and I cut tow panels slightly smaller then the tag base. MI-mixed-media-tag-det-a (3)Using the Clear Stamps set matching the collection and Ink Pad – Bark I added the folaige pattern on one of the panels. Then using the Foliage Mini Designer Stencil with Texture Paste I added the white dimensional pattern on top of it. MI-mixed-media-tag-det-b (1)Once everything has dried, I distressed the edges of the pattern paper panels and sprinkled KaiserMist Spray Ink – Antique Gold and KaiserMist Spray Ink – Denim on top of all the layers. MI-mixed-media-tag-det-b (2)I used various die cut elements and pre cut embellishments to create my tag.

MI-mixed-media-tag-det-c (2)For the die cut elements I used Decorative Die – Texture Woven, Film Edges die, Mini Foliage die and various pattern papers from the  Paper Pad. I used pre cut embellishments from the Collectables Pack and the Paper Pad. To adhere everything together I used Mounting Foam TapeMI-mixed-media-tag-det-c (1)For the flower spread I used  Paper Blooms – Coral and die cut foliage, which I embellished with Rhinestones – SilverMI-mixed-media-tag-det-d (2)As a final touch I tied White LaceJute Cord – Grey and Mixed Hemp Cord – Ocean together.MI-mixed-media-tag-det-d (3)I hope I managed to inspire you today!
