Do All Things With Love with Amethyst

Hello, Karen here with a page I have made using the absolutely stunning Amethyst collection – as purple is my favourite colour I couldn’t wait to get going with these. papers.

I was especially excited to try the Full Roses 6 x 6 Stencil as I could see the potential of creating beautiful inked corners on my project. I choose two green and two purple Kaisercraft inks – Orchid, Plum, Avocado and Green.

I started by cutting a piece of Snow Weave Kaisercard to 8 ins square. On the reverse of this (the smooth side) I used washi tape to hold my stencil in the top left corner, ensuring the top and left of the stencil were aligned with the edges of the cardstock. I used Cut n Dry to add the Orchid and green inks to the open roses, then aligned it with the bottom and right of the card and did the same.

Next I placed the detailed part of the stencil at the top left of my card and used the sponges and Plum and Avocardo to add the details repeating at the bottom right.

I then drew a half inch border, using a pencil, around the two plain corners and carried this around the flowers but with a much smaller gap.

I used a craft knife to remove the inside of the pencil line and added a piece of Gem behind it.

Next I took another piece of Snow Weave Kaisercard and splatterd it with three Kaisermists in Navy, Lavender and Tourquoise. I then added a rose corner to the top left and bottom right using the Full Roses 6 x 6 Stencil.

Then I took two pieces of Mistique and fussy cut all the roses. I started to build my page by adding the rose frame to the centre of my page, on Mounting Foam Dots, and then tucked the fussy cut roses underneath it at the bottom left and top right of my page – I used Mounting Foam Dots to lift some of the flowers. To the bottom of my frame I placed the phrase from the Flutter paper and a phrase taken from the Jewel paper and cut down slightly.

Finally I added my photo to the centre of the frame, tucking two corners underneath and two butterflies fussy cut from the Flutter paper.

I hope I have inspired you to try out the Full Roses 6 x 6 Stencil as it is such a lovely way to embellish your paper projects and I think it would look spectacular if used on a card.

Take Adventures with Magenta

Hello Kaisercraft fans,

Emmy here today sharing a boyish project I created with the lovely Magenta Collection from Kaisercraft (available at Merly Impressions’ online store). I thought of making a black-and-white layout, but then I saw the red flowers and I couldn’t resist adding a bit of red colour. Luckily Kaisercraft have many additional colour-coordinating products, so I could choose from a wide range of embellishments. For my background I used Raspberry pattern paper and Rosa pattern paper. Using Collage 6×6 Designer Stencil and Texture Paste I created the white dimensional pattern. Then I cut a 16 x 30 cm stripe from the Rosa pattern paper, distressed its edges using a Paper Distresser and adhered it in the middle of the Raspberry paper.

Once everything was in place, I sprinkled Kaisermist Black on top.

I matted my picture on a slightly larger panel of Kaisercard Coal Weave Cardstock. I added a layer of Cheesecloth Gauze under it and adhered it with Mounting Foam Tape to the pattern paper.

I stamped random design on the greyish pattern paper using KaiserInk Pad – Licorice and Decorative Tape Pieces Clear Stamp. Then I stamped the flower cluster from the Clear Stamp set Blessed onto a light grey pattern paper from the Paper Pad. Once the ink has dried I fussy cut the flowers, embossed them slightly and arranged them around my picture as shown. I added also fussy cut flowers from Pink pattern paper and from the Collectables pack. The 3D red blossoms I fussy cut from a pattern paper from the Paper Pad and then I adhered them with Mounting Foam Tape on top of the stamped flowers.

Using Kaisercard Crimson Weave Cardstock, Kaisercard Coal Weave Cardstock, a hearts die and Kaisercraft Decorative Dies (Texture Diamonds) I die cut the red and black cardstock texture embellishments. For my title I used a cut-off stipe from one of the 12″ pattern papers. To adhere my title I used Mounting Foam Tape.

As a final touch I added Epoxy Stickers – Sea Breeze and Rhinestones – Black.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post!
Have a wonderful creative week and stay safe!

Angel in Disguise using the ScrapBoys-Industrial Romance Collection

Hi everyone,
I would like to share with you this mixed media layout that I have created using the Industrial Romance Collection by the ScrapBoys. I love cogs and industrial themed papers so this one really caught my eye. I don’t usually gravitate towards orange as a colour so this one was a nice challenge for me.

I decided that I would go for a mixed media background for this layout. I have used the Spiced Marmalade- Ranger Distress Oxide to stamp a mix of the Factory 42 and Time Machine Collection cog stamps. Following this I added some watered down Oxide Ink, Brown KaiserMist and acrylic paint spatters to the background before adhering to a sheet of Marrakesh Cardstock.

Next I took two copies of my photo ( 8.7 x 14.2 cm) and cut the subject from one photo and foam taped it onto the same place of the second photo, creating a 3D effect. I also added the wings from INDUSTRIAL ROMANCE – PAPER 07 between the two photo layers. After adding a Marrakesh Cardstock frame to my photo I adhered it to the centre of my layout. Then I created a layered frame around the layout using fussy cut elements from INDUSTRIAL ROMANCE – PAPER 07, 2x INDUSTRIAL ROMANCE – PAPER 03 and INDUSTRIAL ROMANCE – PAPER 01.

To finalise the layout, I embellished with MINI PAPER BLOOMS – CORAL and Black Rhinestones.

I hope I have managed to inspire you to step out of your comfort zone today and try a new colour in your next project, or just create a project using this amazing ScrapBoys Collection. I hope you are staying safe, healthy and enjoying some extra craft time.
All the best,
Roxanne xX

Happy Today layout with Paisley Days

Hello Kaisercraft fans,

Emmy here today sharing a brand new layout I’ve created with Kaisercraft’s Paisley Days collection (available at Merly Impressions’ online store).

For my background I used Kaisercard Coal Weave Cardstock. Using Kaisercraft Distressed Dots 6×6 Designer Stencil and Texture Paste I created the white dimensional pattern. I cut four stripes from a pattern paper from the Paper Pad and a 14 x 30 cm panel from Retro pattern paper. After inking their edges with Ink Pad – Black I adhered the different layers using Mounting Foam Tape.

As a final touch I sprinkled KaiserMist Spray Ink – White on top of all layers.

I ruffled the edges of my picture using Paper Distresser and layered it on a slightly larger panel of Kaisercard Snow Weave Cardstock. Then I adhered it on top of the pattern paper with Mounting Foam Tape.

Using Decorative Dies (Double Bubble and Film Edges) and Kaisercard (Kaisercard Snow Weave Cardstock and Kaisercard Coal Weave Cardstock) I die cut different images.

To decorate my page I used pre-cut images from different pattern papers from the Paper Pad and from the Collectables pack. I arranged them around my picture and adhered them with Mounting Foam Tape. I also added stripes from washi tape.

For my title I used a fussy cut word from Daisy Chain pattern paper, which I covered with Glossy medium.

As a final touch I added Rhinestones – Black.

I hope I managed to inspire you today!

Have a wonderful creative week!

Perfect Day with Sunkissed

Hello, Karen here with another scrapbook page using Sunkissed – which may well be my favourite range this year, to date.  I knew I wanted to do something with the glorious wreath on the  the Martini paper and thought it was worth sacrificing all the phrases on the front to fussy cut this out.
Perfect Day

I also fussy cut the smaller wreath from the Pineapple Sour paper along with the two butterflies from this paper too and used pieces cut from Pina Colada,  and Tutti Fruitti.

I started by trimming .25 in from all sides of a piece of Coconut paper and adding this to some Coal weave Kaisercard. I then mounted a 5in x 5.5in photo onto another piece of Coal weave Kaisercard and added to the centre of my page.

Onto this I added the large, fussy cut wreath.  I added a photo cut from a 4 x 6in one to the smaller wreath and this was placed at the bottom right of my a page.

To finish my page I added flowers to the three remaining corners and dotted my butterflies about my page.  I had previously added Stickles to the bodies of my butterflies to give them a little sparkle.  All that was needed to finish my page was to add the ‘Perfect Day’ arrow from the Collectables pack.

Perfect Day

I hope I have inspired you to try using this lovely wreath on one of your scrapbook pages/.

Tranquillity – with Uniquely Creative Tropical Dreams & Sea Blue

Hi Everyone, today I am sharing with you a layout I’ve created using papers from the beautiful Tropical Dreams & Sea Blue Uniquely Creative collections. I just love this photo of Merley sitting looking out to sea, it is very peaceful – I hope we can go back there one day.

Products Used: – UCP1776, Sea Blue Paper Pack – UCP-SBCS, Sea blue Cut-a-part Sheet – UCP2021, Paradise Paper x 2 – UCP2028, Ocean Breeze Paper x 2 – UCP2027, Vitamin Sea Paper, UCE1724, Crystal Rhinestones – Cinnamon Kaisercard

I started by layering up all my base papers, once I decided which ones to use I then cut out a circle from the centre of the top two, for the inner rim of the circle I added a layer of brown card.

I love to fussy cut all my embellishments from the papers, so spend a few evenings fussy cutting all the flowers from the Tropical Dreams papers.

…….and some elements from the Cut-a-part Sheet

You can add and layer as much as you like, I like to make my layouts more 3D, so I add lots of layers to my flowers, I have even doubled up on the Sea Horses. You do not need to do all the layering if you like to store your layouts in an album.

As you can see from this photo, I have layered up this flower three times, getting smaller in size until the centre piece, I also like to shape my elements, I love the overall look.

You can find even more close-ups of my layout over on my Instagram page – The Fussy Cutter

Happy crafting!!!!!

Flamingo Fun with Sunkissed by Kaisercraft

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a fun layout that focusses the pink flamingos and pink flowers of the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. The irony of this layout and the photo is that flamingos can’t fly and neither can I, no matter how much we try! I enjoyed adding a couple of mixed media techniques to this layout too. MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 1

To create this layout I have followed the steps below:

  1. Cut DAQUIRI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION down to 24.5 x 24.5 cm (keeping off cuts) and distress edges with a PAPER DISTRESSER. Using a blending tool, ink KAISERINK PAD – FLAMINGO though TINY TRIANGLES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL down the right side of DAQUIRI and a little bit in the top left corner as well.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 2
  2. Colour some TEXTURE PASTE with KAISERCOLOUR PAINT – BLACK 75ML and transfer through the long palm frond in the TROPICAL LEAVES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL onto DAQUIRI.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 3
  3. Trim COCONUT – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to 30.5 x 30.5 cm, KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 26.5 x 26.5 cm and KAISERCARD LIPSTICK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 25.5 x 25.5 cm, keep the off cuts. Distress edges and adhere INK to COCONUT, and LIPSTICK to INK.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 4
  4. Take all the off cuts and select the widest of each paper. Trim to 24.5 cm long. Rip the edges of DAQUIRI. Rip INK and LIPSTICK in half.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 5
  5. Adhere DAQUIRI to LIPSTICK. Layer and adhere the ripped strips on the right side of the layout.
  6. Prepare a photo mat by cutting KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 11.2 x 11.2 cm and the pink striped sheet from PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to 10.5 x 10.5 cm. adhere to each other and to the layout in the top right corner.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 6
  7. Adhere photo with dimensions 9.8 x 9.8 cm to the photo mat. Fussy cut the distinct pink flowers from the PAPER PAD, TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION, and take them from the COLLECTABLES – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to cluster them in the top corners of the layout.
  8. Further embellish with COLLECTABLES, CHEESECLOTH GAUZE and RHINESTONES – HOT PINK.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 10

Using Only 3 Papers to Make 2 Layouts with Urban Garden

Hello, Karen here with an extra blog post.  I run a crop and teach a class at it most months.  This month, for the class, I have used Urban Garden from Uniquely Creative.  This is a fabulous range as you can get so much out of each paper.

You Are My Happy - Merly

My budget for a class is between £5.00 and £6.00 and this month I have been able to make two scrapbook layouts from just three pieces of paper, two pieces of card,  some sequins, gems and Kaisermist.

The supplies I have used are Nursery Garden, Market Garden and Nature Strip papers, 2 pieces of Snow Weave KaiserCard, Iridescent Pearls, Violet Garden SequinLavender KaiserMist and of course lots and lots of Mounting Foam Dots.

You Are My Happy

I started by cutting approximately 1.5 ins from the top and bottom of the  Nature Strip paper – making sure not to cut into the flower wreath. I then fussy cut out the wreath.  From Nursery Garden paper I fussy cut everything then from the Market Garden paper I cut all the 3 x 4 cards, 2 x 2 cards and strips, remembering to set aside the branding strips from the three papers. This did take quite a time but it was well worth it as I then had lots of elements to play with.

Add one 1.5 piece of script paper (cut from the Nature Strip paper), horizontally to of a piece of white card 6ins from the bottom. Add the flower wreath 1.5 ins from the left and 2.5 ins from the bottom – I used Mounting Foam Dots.  to give it some dimension.

Place a large fussy cut sprig of flowers under each of the two on the wreath – again I used Mounting Foam Dots.   Build up your clusters using your fussy cut flowers and leaves NOTE save one of the large flower clusters for your second page.

IMG_2617 IMG_2618

Use the ‘Our Story’ from Nursery Garden along with the green and white polka dot 3 x 4 card and the ‘You are my Happy’ 3 x 4 card, trimmed to the green frame.  Arrange these along the top right of your wreath.  I used the green 3 x 4 card for my photo mount.

Finally add the blue butterflies and an Iridescent Pearl to the centre of each flower.

Live The Life You Love

Live the Life You Love - Merly

Start by cutting .5in from all of your remaining strips, including the branding strips so that they are 11.5 ins wide.  Add to the top of a piece of Snow Weave KaiserCard with a .25 border at the left, right and top.

Add some splatters using the Lavender KaiserMist and once dry place the small tags, cut from the Nursery Garden, in a banner along the top of your page, adding a small purple butterfly tonthe centre one, using Mounting Foam Dots for both the tags and the butterfly.

Mount your photo onto the gray 3 x 4 card, from the Nursary Garden paper, and add to the centre of your page underneath the bottom paper strip.  To this add your photo.  On the left add ‘Live the Life You Love’ and on the right add ‘Love This Life’ both of these are stuck approximately 1.25 ins above and tucked slightly under the photo mount. Add a green banner under each of these cards.

At the bottom of your photo place the final cluster of flowers with some additional leaves and butterflies, adhering with Mounting Foam Dots.

Write your journaling onto the small tags and add to the bottom right of your page.

Add OXOX, (cut from one of the 2 x 2 pieces) and the butterfly, cut from another, above your photo and also the heart which was cut from a third 2 x 2 piece.

To finish I added a small pearl to each of the little tags, three to each banner, one to the centre of each flower and then scattered some pearls and tiny sequins around my page in among the ink spatters.

I really was so pleased to be able to get such lovely pages from such frugal supplies.

Double Trouble in Paradise with Sunkissed by Kaisercraft

Hello Merly Impressions fans,

Today I would like to share with you a fun, multi-photo, double layout that I created using the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. I went for a fairly simple layout with few layers this time, however I add a little bit of fun mixed media. This is the perfect layout practice mixed media with because most of the back ground is covered in photos and any mistakes with it! Or if you love the background, you can simply use less photos. I have tried to capture a weekend trip to Palma, Mallorca, with this layout.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture1

To create this double layout I have used the instructions below:

  1. Take two sheets of KAISERCARD SNOW WEAVE CARDSTOCK and cut into three pieces 27.5, 24 and 4 cm wide and all 24 cm high.
  2. Take the smallest piece and add a leaf pattern by inking though TROPICAL LEAVES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL, using an ink blending tool with KAISERINK PAD – FOREST and KAISERINK PAD – BLUE HAZEMIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture2
  3. Apply Distress Oxide- Lucky Clover, Distress Oxide- Mermaid Lagoon and Distress Ink- Peacock Feathers to an INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET, spray with some water. Dip paper into the ink, repeat until you are happy with how it looks.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture3
  4. Take the two larger SNOW pieces and tape together behind. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on this larger section. MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture4
  5. Splatter with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – NAVY 50ML.
  6. Take two sheets of MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and trim off the bottom strips. From the centre of one, cut out a piece to use as a 11 x 14.1 cm photo frame for later. Tape MOJITO’s together create a double layout size. Using a rounded corner punch, punch the outside corners of the inked SNOW page and the double MOJITO. Adhere SNOW to MOJITO.
  7. Take the pre-prepared 4 cm SNOW strip and adhere to the left side of the layout. To the centre of this strip adhere the bottom strips from DAQUIRI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTIONFOAM TAPE the bottom strip from MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION onto the top of the other bottom strips.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture5
  8. Cut leaves from LEMON LIME – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and foam tape the section of three leaves together to the left side of the layout and the large single leaf to the bottom right.
  9. Prepare 4 photo mats with dimensions of 10.7 x 10.7 cm from the zig-zag and green spotted sheets from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED. Adhere 4 photos with dimensions of 9.8 x 9.8 cm. Adhere the 4 matted photos to the centre of the layout.
  10. Take pre-prepared photo frame from Step 6, adhere to photo (10 x13 cm) and adhere to the right side on the layout on top of the large leaf.
  11. Take the leaves (with same shape as in Step 9) from the COLLECTABLES – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and cut them from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION. Tuck and glue them under various photo corners.

Paradise with Sunkissed

Hello, Karen here with another layout using the amazingly fun and colourful Sunkissed range for which I had the perfect photo of Gracia from a few years ago.

With the lockdown in progress I found I had loads of time on my hands for some fussy cutting and this range provides ample opportunity for this.  So I settled down to watch a film and fussy cut all the elements from Pina Colada, Pineapple Sour and Tutti Fruitti. Although, I knew I wouldn’t use all of these on one layout I would have them prepared for future projects.

I started this layout with a piece of Lime Weave Kaisercard and onto this I added a piece of Long Island paper which I had trimmed .25in from the bottom and right. I then added a sheet of green polka dot paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad. Next I fussy cut the flower borders from a piece of paper from the  6.5 x 6.5 paper pad which matched the Long Island paper and added this to the left of the polka dot paper.

To the right and left of my page I added some of my fussy cut elements along with some pieces from the Collectables pack.

Next I used the Clear Stamps  and black ink to stamp some additional butterflies onto the pineapple paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and fussy cut these out too.

They were then tucked in and around my two large clusters on either side of my page.

To finish my page I added the word Paradise and and two phrases – from the Collectables pack and a ticket from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad .

The final touch was to add the wording from the branding strip of the Pineapple Sour paper.

Hope you all stay safe and are able to take your mind of things with a little crafting
