Travel Journal using the Documented collection

Hello everyone,

Today is tinged with a little sadness as I say goodbye to the design team. It has been a privilege to get to know you all and I hope you have been inspired by some of the projects I have shared. However, it is time to move on and I have every confidence that the next designer will also inspire you with their wonderful projects.

As my final piece for you I was lucky enough to be sent the wonderfully versatile, Documented collection to work with. On this occassion I took inspiration from the travel themed collectables and the Documented stamp set to create this travel journal.

To create this I used a plain A6 notebook and covered it in White Gesso and Kaisercraft white acrylic paint for good coverage.

I then used the 6.5″ paper pad to cover the painted base. I chose the small letters sheet for the front and the foiled grid paper for the rear. On each piece I had a small piece left over and I used these strips for the opposite edges of the front and rear. I stuck it all down firmly using PVA glue. (Don’t worry if it bubbles a bit, when it dries it will all pull back tight!)

Next I stamped the large globe onto a piece of grey paper from the pad using the Documented Stamp Set and a Kaisercraft Black Ink Pad

I then mounted this on to foam tape and used two collectables from the pack as further embellishments. For the title across the front I cut the letters from the Notebook Ledger sheet of the 12″ paper.

I also used a strip of Natural Lace to cover the wire spiral binding and I chose several travel related collectables to make a swing tag for the journal. I added them to the Metallic Hemp cord and tied them to the spiral binding along with a couple of charms from my stash.

To finish I added some organza ribbon to the spiral and my travel journey is now ready to go..I wonder where it will take me?

Thank you for your support during my time with Merly Impressions and all that remains is to say goodbye! I hope to see you around on our crafting journeys together!
