Birthday card by Pam

Hi everyone, It’s Pam here.

Today I thought I’d show you a card for a change. I was asked to make a birthday card for a colleague, and I knew the Kaleidoscope collection from Kaisercraft would be perfect, and make the job easy! Here’s my card:

If you, like me, follow the Kaisercrafts blog you will have noticed the fabulous cards made by DT member Kelly-ann Oosterbeek. Kelly makes fabulous stepped cards, and it was looking at her work that inspired me to make this stepped card. A stepped card look very impressive, but in reality they are quite simple to make, involving just a few strategically placed folds. Kelly had posted a video clip to show how to make cards like hers.

Kelly very cleverly sizes hers to fit Kaisercrafts postcard sized designs like these on the Palette paper from the Kaleidoscope collection :

I had to do mine slightly differently as I needed to make a larger card which would have room for all my work colleagues to write a message inside. Instead of adding a step on each side, I just made a slightly wider step on one side only. You can see the fold in the photo below.

P1160509-3Once the card is folded it is just a matter of cutting paper to size and adhering, then adding embellishments. I used Diecuts, lace trim and flowers.

So there you have it-an impressive looking card that is easy to make!
