July 2012 Layout Challenge

It is the 15th of the month and I am sure that you do know now that this is the day we begin our monthly Merly Impression Challenge and this month we have a very special prize for you!

What about becoming part of our Design Team for a month? Yes! The prize for the winner is to become a DT guest member with a Design Team goodie box with an approximate value of £30.00 with which you will get to create two layouts and a card for the Merly Impressions Blog. If you prefer not to be a guest DT member then you will still receive a £20.00 goodie box of Kaisercraft products!

The prize kind of determined the theme of this month challenge as we are asking to create a layout telling us why you scrapbook. Your layout can be any size and can be with or without a photograph but must include the words “Why I Scrapbook” somewhere on it. And here is my take on this theme:

Emilie - Why I Scrapbook

I love to mix the Kaisercraft collections and did this here by using the papers “Odds” and “Bric a Brac” from the Miss Match collection with the papers “Delayed” and “Roam” from the Check-In collection. I love how easily it comes together! A few more bits and pieces such as cards from the Perforated sheetBingo cards and Polaroid frame to finish it all off and there you go.

We do hope that you have fun with our challenge and that we bring some inspiration your way. Every month I love to look through all your gorgeous entries but please make sure you follow the challenge rules as we are sad to have on occasion to remove some entries as they didn’t follow those rules. You can find a full list of the Challenge rules on the Monthly Challenge page but we would like to politely remind readers that:

  1. anyone who puts their entry on their own blog must link back to this post (http://www.merlyimpressions.co.uk/blog/scrapbooking/july-2012-challenge/) so that all your visitors can find the gallery below and enjoy all the fabulous layouts being created
  2. each creation entered must be “new” (not previously entered into a Merly Impressions or any other challenge)

It can be difficult for us to view any of your entries linked through Facebook therefore we are kindly asking you if you could please post your photos on the Merly Impressions page as this should make it easier for us all to admire your work. You can also email your entries directly to us at info@merlyimpressions.co.uk and we will add them and link them through our Photobucket gallery.

So I am really looking forward to see what gorgeous designs you come up with!

Emilie

  1. Debbie’s ‘Why I scrapbook’

Why i scrapbook… Family history got me started. Recording the past for the future. Now i scrap about me and the present for future generations. Scrapping allows me to express my unique creativity for my grandaughter. Its my time. Precious as the memory i am preserving. Discovering tiny details about the people i scrapped to guide me in the layout. Here is my entry on why i scrapbook. The photo is printed on acetate to hint on the layer beneath with the journaling on. Secrets to be discovered. This page about me is full of subtle icons

A lovely layout Debbie, thank you for entering the challenge.

  2. wonderful layouts already … I’m battling with the urge to scrap and the desire to be outside!

  3. Karen’s ‘Why I scrapbook’

Here are just a few of the reasons why Karen scrapbooks.

Because our stories matter, telling the stories makes our lives better and gives understanding and purpose to our lives.

Capture the moment and keep it with meaningful stories, the picture alone will not tell the next generation why that particular image was so important to the previous generation.

Because I love recording my family story. Cherishing the easily forgotten moments along with the great occasions.

Because it is part of reserching and recording my family history.

A beautiful well thougt out layout Karen, really lovely. xXx

  4. loved this challenge!! Thanks for the inspiration! Another reason I love scrapping which I did not even think was possible when I started is the scrapbooking community! I have met so many great people through this wonderful hobby!!!

  5. Brilliant layout Tasa, love all that doodle journaling!
