Layered Texture

I do rather like texture on a page although the amount varies depending on my mood and papers. This month I have been working with the utterly gorgeous Pickled Pear collection.

There are many ways to add texture to a layout – not all of it has to be bulky. One method is to use stamps to add detail to the background for example (Emilie is obviously an expert in this method!)

After adding some  texture to the background, I then wanted to add some additional interest by creating an opening. This is a simple tear in the background paper (Quince) which is then distressed and curled. To add even more to this area, I added some paper strips from the collection and taped them to the back.

Each one protrudes slightly further out than the one above so you can see all the layers. Distress the edges with a tool or scissors and some ink for definition. I also layered up some of the black lace trim.

You may have noticed that I do love a little envelope. I made this one from Apple using a simple square design. I tucked in the tickets and journal strips from the Collectables and Sticker Sheet. I actually wrote my journaling on the back of the tickets for a fun change.

You can also see the pretty button from The Vintage Garden collection.

Grouping the embellishments together help to give them impact on the page. I start off with placing the flowers before tucking in the various collectable shapes, leaves and finally a bow made from the lace trim.
