Merly Impressions April 2014 Challenge

Hi everybody! It is that time of the month again and we are here to challenge you once more!

This month we are challenging you to use a particular type of embellishment on your layout – we are challenging you to create a scrapbook layout featuring :

Punches, Dies or Die-Cuts

Your layout must include one or more punched or die-cut elements as a prominent part of the design. If you do not have any punches or a die-cutting machine then you may use pre-cut die-cut elements. The final date for entries is the 2nd of May 2014.

One of our design team has created a layout to provide a little inspiration:

Hi there, Sandra here,

I must say it’s my first challenge post, and while writing it I feel very nervous! 😀

Okay, so I have prepared a little starter, to get you all into it, I hope you enjoy it 😉 I had a lovely Bluebell Collection to work with which is available in the Merly Impressions Store.

Bluebelle layout

To make my striking background I have use black gesso from the tube.

Here is a little closer look of the cut-out I have used from the Bluebell Collectables pack.

I really like this picture of me playing with bubbles just like a kid ;d DSC_0853

I hope you will join us this month! Can’t wait to see your creations!

We do hope that you have fun with our challenge and that we bring some inspiration your way. Every month I love to look through all your gorgeous entries but please make sure you follow the challenge rules as we are sad to have on occasion to remove some entries as they didn’t follow those rules. You can find a full list of the Challenge rules on the Monthly Challenge page but we would like to politely remind readers that:

  1. anyone who puts their entry on their own blog must link back to this post ( so that all your visitors can find the gallery below and enjoy all the fabulous layouts being created
  2. each creation entered must be “new” (not previously entered into a Merly Impressions or any other challenge)

It can be difficult for us to view any of your entries linked through Facebook therefore we are kindly asking you if you could please post your photos on the Merly Impressions page as this should make it easier for us all to admire your work. 8. I had a very creative day yesterday and made two more entries, but the light was gone by the time I finished. I’ve just put them up today.

  9. I’m still planning a layout with predominantly punches but as I’ve done one already this week that does use 2 punched circles and a die cut I thought I’d sneak it in just in case I don’t get around to another.
