I’m sure that the whole country has enjoyed the spectacle of the Olympics. It has certainly made us feel very proud to be British. Unfortunately we didn’t get tickets for the games so our only participation has been the Torch coming to Solihull.
We didn’t have any celebrities on our leg of the journey but there was still a party atmosphere at 8am one Sunday morning. We bumped into neighbours and friends as we all turned out to see the torch.
I used Check-In to create my layout. It has very patriotic colours plus yellow which is rather handy!
(I added my journaling on the tag which tucks in behind the photo)
To liven things up, I embossed the background with white embossing powder and a gorgeous stamp. I then layered the border sticker on foam tape as an anchor for my photos end embellishments. I also used the fab letter stickers from the sticker sheet too.
It’s a great idea to tuck in little embellishments when you have a border like this. I have collected a bunch of old postage stamps which add great depth, before topping off with the journal stickers and acetate stamp. Badges are just so cool at the moment – love this one in particular.
You can see more stickers and the compass layered up on a rosette. An easy technique for upscaling your background is to add a little ink. White is my favourite. A few flicks with the straw and dipping the lid into the ink to make the circles.
Here’s a shopping list of everything I have used from the Merly Impressions shop:
- Roam 12×12 paper from Check In collection
- Arrival 12×12 paper from Check In collection
- Check In Border Sticker Sheet
- Check In Clear Stamps, Collectables
- Check In Paper Pad
I hope you scrap your Olympic memories – we’d love to see your layouts!
Thanks for popping in.
