Overlay with Attitude!

I have never used overlays too much. One reason is that I am not sure of the best way to attach it to a background or how to use it creatively.

I adore Kaisercraft’s Attitude! collection which does exactly what it says on the tin!  For my layout I wanted to use the cool graffiti images on the Independent Acetate Sheet as an overlay on top of a base layer. I started with Dude which has a fine grid pattern – perfect for altering. I used a brickwork stencil and worked Faded Jeans Distress Ink here and there.

To get the affect that I was after, I lightly inked through the stencil making sure that some bits where uneven and faded out. I lightly drew around some edges with a very fine black liner. A few splodges of ink and paint to finish it all off.

I added bits of the rub-ons here and there for more texture. I also found some ‘texture’ elements by way of some sequin waste and metal mesh.

I layered up the background using off-cuts of papers from the Attitude! 6.5″ Paper Pad. This is a great way to stretch your papers for more layouts. There are more papers than the standard collection and like the standard collection there are embossed and metallic papers too! I’ll look forward to making more projects with the little pieces I’ve saved!

Thanks for popping in.

  1. Fabulous layout. I amazed by the number of layers it seems to have and the patience it must have taken to put it all together. I especially really love the brickwork stencil and the sequin waste. really inspires me to get a bit more inky than usual!
