Selecting the Roy!

Hello it’s Ali with you today!!

As you know I don’t necessarily look at a collection and think that’s for girls or that’s for boys, and that’s how it is with the fabulous Lulu and Roy 😀

Yes, it’s true, you would think feminine at first as there is an abundance of gorgeous flowers but look again and it is perfect for a man and his new Grandson (even if it is just their hands!)

I love this collection…I know….I say it every month! What I really like is the yellowy/creamy undertones, it makes a change from white!!

I really liked the strip at the bottom of the ‘Magnificent’ paper (the manufacturer strip) so I decided to keep that and cut off 1/2″ off the top to keep it 12 x 12. After doing that I decided that it looked a bit off balance so added a strip from the Dainty paper.

The Collectables in this collection are stunning! There are loads of die cut words, half in the modern font I have used, but there is also a more ornate one. I love the banners and triangles too!

Of course I had to do some paint flicking and used Kaisercolour paint in Deep Yellow and White. The Rhinestones add a little sparkle and dimension 🙂

I used one of the 3 x 4 journal cards to mat the photo onto from the ‘Refined’ paper and then used the same icon from the 6 x 6 paper pad….sweet eh? The lovely die cut banner comes from the diecuts in the same pad.

The finishing touch was to use one of the stickers from the enormous and jam packed sticker sheet!!!

So? What do you think?? I LOVE the Roy!!

Thanks for popping in today,

Ali x

  1. You’ve given me ideas, but I still struggle to paint flick. It doesn’t seem to flick for me … perhaps I need to dilute it. I did manage for one of the challenges but months later I found the pearly paint on my wall!!

  2. Absolutely stunning. I also think that the backs of papers that we often ignore are nicer and more appropriate than the front.

  3. Hi Tracy,

I would dilute the paint to do the flicky thing, have tryed it both ways and works much better diluted. This is how I do it – hold the paint brush in one hand then tap lightly towards the brush end with the other hand. When I first had a go I was just flinging the brush (like bowling a ball lol) and it went everywhere! 😀 I did end up with a lovely pink splattered keyboard though.

    xXx Chrissy
