Mixed Media Cards using ScrapBoys-Industrial Romance

Hi everyone,
Today I would like to share with you a set of three, mixed media cards that I created using the Industrial Romance Collection by the ScrapBoys. I just love the cogs and industrial theme of this collection and thought it would be perfect for a set of heavily clustered, mixed media cards. Many of you would have noticed that I do not usually cluster so heavily in my projects but I thought it was the perfect point in time to push my limits and learn something new. Check out how I went below!

To create these cards, I started with square 3 kraft cards (12.8 x 12.8 cm), 3 squares of Marrekesh Cardstock (12 x 12 cm) and 3 squares of Oatmeal Cardstock (11 x 11 cm). I added the mixed media background to the Oatmeal squares before adhering them to the Marrakesh squares and the kraft cards. Firstly, I stamped the music background stamp in Bark Ink. Secondly, I painted sections with white Gesso with a little bit of orange acrylic paint and Nuvo Crystal Drops- Brown. Next I stamped a mix of the Factory 42 and Time Machine Collections cog stamps in Spiced Marmalade- Ranger Distress Oxide onto the painted sections. Following this, I tinted some Texture Paste with Brown KaiserMist and applied it through the Linear Lines Stencil onto the cards. Lastly, I spray the Brown KaiserMist over the texture paste to finalise the mixed media background.

To begin the clustered sections of the cards, I coloured Cheese Cloth with Black KaiserMist and glued it to the cards. Next I added some fussy cut elements from INDUSTRIAL ROMANCE – PAPER 07, INDUSTRIAL ROMANCE – PAPER 03 and INDUSTRIAL ROMANCE – PAPER 01. Then I added more and more of these elements on top of each other, followed by some yellow and orange Flower Blooms.

To finalise these cards, I added some Wooden Cogs and splattered some extra Brown KaiserMist.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about how I created these heavily clustered, industrial style, mixed media cards. I also hope I have inspired you to have a go at using this stunning collection and some mixed media techniques in the near future. Stay happy, healthy and crafty!
Best wishes,

6 Effective Cards using the Kaisercraft Lily and Moss Collection

Hello fellow crafters,

This month I am working with the lovely pink and green filled LILY AND MOSS Collection by Kaisercraft. The tones of this collection work so well together that it was hard not to use all the papers on one project! I have created at beautiful sextet of cards to share with you this month. Each card has the same basic starting elements and then embellishing the has made each one individual. I have included the instructions below, just incase you are interesting in giving this set of cards a go yourself. Picture 1- Card Sextet Lily and Moss Collection

To create my sextet of greeting cards, I have used the following instructions :

  1. Take or make 6 white cards 10.2 x15.4 cm. Ink the edges using an Ink Blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – FOREST.
  2. Onto 2 of the cards, randomly stamp CLEAR TEXTURE STAMP – GRID in  KAISERINK PAD – FOREST.  Onto 2 other cards, randomly stamp CLEAR STAMP – LATTICE in KAISERINK PAD – LICORICE. To the last two cards apply a TEXTURE PASTE + KAISERCOLOUR PAINT – CANDY 75ML mix through the TINY TRIANGLES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCILPicture 2- Card Sextet Lily and Moss Collection
  3. Take 2x pink, 2x green and 2x black and white sheets from the PAPER PAD – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION. Cut each sheet into 2x squares (7×7 cm) and 2x rectangles (8×4 cm). Turn the rectangles into bunting by cutting triangles from the short side of the rectangles. Ink the edges in  KAISERINK PAD – FOREST.
NB. I have prepared some extra pieces but did not end up using them.Picture 4- Card Sextet Lily and Moss Collection
  4. Adhere the prepared pieces to the cards so that there is 2x bunting and 2x squares on each card. I have used cardboard from an old pizza box and glue under the top square to give dimension but MOUNTING FOAM TAPE could be used instead.Picture 3- Card Sextet Lily and Moss Collection
  5. For the last step, make each card unique by embellishing using a variety of items. Including but not limited to stickers from the STICKER BOOK – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION, embellishments from the PAPER PAD – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION and COLLECTABLES – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION, wooden flourishes from the FLOURISH PACK – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTIONCURIOS – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTIONPAPER BLOOMS – COCONUTPAPER BLOOMS – FAIRY FLOSSRHINESTONES – SOFT PINK, and RHINESTONES – SILVER.Picture 5- Card Sextet Lily and Moss Collection Picture 6- Card Sextet Lily and Moss Collection Picture 7- Card Sextet Lily and Moss Collection Picture 8- Card Sextet Lily and Moss Collection

Easy Gift Card Cards using Unchartered Waters

Hi Everyone,

Today I would like to share with you some easy cards that double to hold both your message and a pre-purchased gift card! These have been made with the lovely UNCHARTED WATERS collection by Kaisercraft. I just love this collection with all the shells, beach creatures and boat related items! Since blue is my favourite colour, I love this collection for its colours too and because it is very suitable to co-ordinate in those mixed media effects. Although, for these simple cards I have focused on using the PAPER PAD – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and the STICKER BOOK – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION. With just these items and some plain cards you could make so many of these useful cards that you would never run out!

Easy Cards with Uncharted Waters 8

To create this layout I followed the steps below:

  1. Take 4 pre-made cards with dimensions of 10.5 x 14.7 cm and use a PAPER DISTRESSER to distress the edges. Take 4 sheets from the PAPER PAD – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and cut down to 9.8 x 14.2 cm. Distress the edges and attach to cards, each one towards a different corner of the card, like shown in the picture below. Easy Cards with Uncharted Waters 1
  2. Take 4 sheets from the PAPER PAD – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION, and 2 sheets from FOIL PAPER PAD – FROST. Cut down to 8.4 x 12.3 cm and distress edges. Attached a foil sheet to each, in the middle of the 10.5 x 14.7 cm sheet.Easy Cards with Uncharted Waters 2
  3. Take the paper pad sheets and a plastic gift card and trace the gift card in the middle of the sheet. Measure a line ~1 cm down from the top of the card and the use a CRAFT KNIFE to cut along this line.Easy Cards with Uncharted Waters 3
  4. Put strips  KAISERCRAFT 6MM DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE closely on the top of the cut line, ~5 mm from the outside edges of traced plastic card lines. Easy Cards with Uncharted Waters 4
  5. Adhere to the focus corner of each card.Easy Cards with Uncharted Waters 5
  6. Draw small arrows in pencil above the slit, this is to indicate “insert gift card here”. Decorate card with stickers from the STICKER BOOK – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION.Easy Cards with Uncharted Waters 6
  7. Take some of the “pop-out” embellishments from the PAPER PAD – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and attach to the cards with MOUNTING FOAM TAPE. For the middle element I have popped a little bit of CHEESECLOTH GAUZE underneath for a little bit more dimension.Easy Cards with Uncharted Waters 7

Winter Wonderland by Graphic 45

Good morning all

IMG_1511

Thanks for joining us on the blog today to see what we’ve all been up to!

This month I had the fortune to be sent the delicious Winter Wonderland collection by Graphic 45.. a super, traditional, Christmas collection perfect for all your Christmas crafting requirements.

On this occasion I made two multi layered Christmas cards.

For this one you will need the following components.image

A 6″ card blank

Graphic 45 Winter Wonderland sheet

Holly Berries sheet

Nordic Greetings sheet

Rustic Holiday Paper

and Cherry Weave Kaisercard to mount the pieces on.

I also added a pre-made poinsettia and some holly leaves cut from the Christmas Collectables Basecoat collection (which, handily, are in the Sale!) and the chipboard Good Tidings tag from the Winter Wonderland collectables  that I tied with Cherry Red Hemp Cord. For a final flourish I added a Holly Wood flourish and inked it with the Kaisercraft Vine Ink Pad  and then added some Lippy Red Rhinestones.

image

For this card I used

image

A 6″ card blank

A sheet of the reverse of the Holly Berries sheet used previously and topped with a piece from the Rustic Holiday papers mounted on the Cherry Weave Cardstock and then double mounted on Moss Weave Cardstock.

I then placed this on another double mounted piece using the Pretty Poinsettia paper after adding a piece of Grosgrain Red Ribbon to the base papers and securing the ends around the top sheet of paper. To embellish I used a double mounted sentiment from the Christmas Collectable Basecoat collection together with a printed bow from the same pack, a wooden flower flourish inked with Cherry Ink pad a Fire Red mini bloom with a twirl of Cherry Hemp Cord finished with more Lippy Red Rhinestones.

image

As there are so many wonderful pre-printed toppers in this gorgeous collection I feel this is a must buy for those last minute Christmas Cards.

I hope you like my samples? Do pop back later in the month to see what else I have made with this fabulously Christmassey collection!

Happy Christmas!

A duo of cards with Keepsake

Hello everyone,

Denise here with some cards for you today using one of the latest Kaisercraft collections, Keepsake.

MERLY DTcollageThe first card was made using some Coffee Bean cardstock cut down to A4 size then down to 28cm wide. Next, lines were scored at 7 cm and 14cm.

I trimmed  a piece off at 15cm to create the band.

289I used  papers from the 6.5 x6.5  paper pad to cover the panels of the card and the band.

To decorate, I used die cut elements from the paper pad together with some die cuts from the Collectables Pack. I used some  gold rhinestones dotted around to embellish as well.

My second card was made using a 5.75 inch square card.

304I cut a strip measuring 5.75 inches by 5.25 from a separate piece of card then scored it across at 1/2 an inch and 2 7/8 of an inch.

283The smaller piece was stuck to the bottom of the card to create a front easel.

Next, I covered the panels of the card with papers from the 6.5×6.5 paper pad.

Photo 27-06-2017, 14 53 51I used some die cut elements from the Collectables Pack to layer and embellish together with some Dusty Pink Paper Blooms and some cheesecloth.

297I used a frame cut  from the 12 x 12 Acetate Photo Frame sheet to lay over my sentiment .

294Lastly I dotted some glitter around to add some bling!

Hope you’ve enjoyed these projects – I certainly had fun making them.

Notelet and card holder using High Tea collection

Hi everyone,

Elaine here again and this time I’m bringing you a notelet/card holder and 11 notelets made using the gorgeous High Tea Kaisercraft collection.

image imageTo make this I scoured You Tube to find a good tutorial and I finally came across this tutorial here which will give you all the dimensions you need to replicate the item.

To make the cover I used white cardstock and folded it as per the instructions in the video and ended up with these pieces.

image imageThen I set about covering them with the papers from the High Tea collection. The inside I covered using the Tea Time sheet mounted on to Kaisercard Flamingo and a piece of floral patterned paper from the 6.5 x 6.5″ paper pad on the spine.

For the outside I used more of the Tea Time paper mounted on to the same card.. (please ignore the pink spotty background..it’s my desk!)

imageAfter covering the outside I made a belly band using more of the Flamingo card and added two of the collectables from the pack. I also used the Berry Mini Ink Pad to edge the patterned paper and card.imageTo make the notelets I used this wonderful tutorial from Kaisercrafts design team member, Colette Mitrega where she uses a One Sheet Wonder template here

TemplateThere will be a little bit of trimming to make your template fit the cards as the cards I made were slightly smaller than the ones in Colette’s tutorial.  I ended up with this selection of cards.

image

image image imageI chose the Tea Leaves paper as my ‘one sheet’  and on each of the notes or cards I have used a collectable from the collectables pack or a pop out die cut from the 6.5 x 6.5 ” paper pad and finished off with stickers from the sticker sheet together with Hot Pink Rhinestones.

I hope you like this set.. I think they would make a wonderful gift for someone!

Enjoy!

Elaine
