Thank you to all the scrappers who attended our March crop, we hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did.

There was no kit for March instead we had a Sketch Challenge which I called “My Three Favourite Things” these are the three things I love to put or do on my layouts. You can see the Sketch below. Lots of people took part and we had some lovely entries, so much so that we couldn’t pick one winner so had a runner up as well. The second price of £10.00 to spend in the shop went to Sara and the winning layout was from Louise who won £25.00 to spend in the shop, thank you to everyone that took part. I didn’t quite finish mine but will post it at a later date.

Below are some pictures taken on the day (click the image once to open it and click it again to close it). A big thank you to Chris, Anna and Paul for making some scrumptious cakes and sausage rolls, they were all yummy.

Many thanks to the scrappers who made our January crop so much fun. We hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did.

The kit for January was based on the Forget-Me-Not collection from Kaisercraft and included instructions and stash to make two layouts that we called “Friends” and “Cherish” although some scrappers came up with their own interpretations of the layouts.

It was great to see so many friends and a few new scrappers as well. We hope everyone enjoyed the Merly Impressions shop as well – the new collections seemed very popular (especially Secret Admirer) as were the Sew Easy tools.

We hope to see you all again for our next crop on the 16th of March 2013.

Below are some pictures taken today (click the image once to open it and click it again to close it). The chocolate cake went down very well – so well that we only managed to get a picture of the last slice or two.

The first Merly Impressions crop of 2013 is nearly upon us so we thought we would let everyone know about the kit our croppers will be using on Saturday 26th January 2013.

The kit uses the Kaisercraft collection called Forget-Me-Not which features quirky honey bees and honeycomb patterns with fabulous shades of navy blue and mustard. The crop kit includes a total of six sheets of printed paper, the 12×12 Sticker Sheet, two sheets of Kaisercard cardstock, white Pearl and some cotton.

The theme for the layouts is family & friends, the layouts are called ‘Friends’ & ‘Cherish’ but you can adapt your layouts and titles to suit your own photos.

The first layout which I have called ‘Friends’ uses one photo measuring 15cm wide by about 9cm inches high. I have used a sepia-toned photo but you could also use a black & white photo. The colours in this layout are mainly mustard and navy blue.

The second layout which I have called ‘Cherish’ uses one photo measuring about 14cm wide by 9cm high. I have used a sepia-toned photo again, the colours in this layout are mainly mustard, beige, cream and olive green.

You are obviously free to alter the title (and therefore the theme) of the layouts and you can also add journaling. I have also used a punch set and the Sew Easy tool which will be available to use on the day. We will also bring our usual supply of tools (the Cricut Expression machine, Grand Calibur and Big Shot) to the crop if people would like to use them to create their own title or cut out other embellishments. Other items used on the layouts which you need to bring are a sewing needle if you want to do the sewing, Crystal Lacquer, a journal pen and Blue ink pad for inking round the edges. We will also have ink pads and Crystal Lacquer available to purchase on the day if you don’t have them. You will also need to bring a small pair of scissors because there is a LOT of fussy cutting out on both of the layouts. :-P :-P :-P

We will post full images and close-ups of the layouts after the November crop.

The kit will cost £10 on the day but is entirely optional and your seat is £5.00. The location of the crop, together with other details, can be found on our Crop Dates page.

There will also be the usual FABULOUS Merly Shop and a selection of cakes, choccies and biscuits, tea’s & coffee. Please bring your own lunch.

See you all very soon.

Many thanks to the scrappers who made our November crop so much fun. We hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did.

The kit for November was based on the Just Believe collection from Kaisercraft and included instructions and stash to make two festive themed layouts that we called “Joy” and “Christmas Memories” although some scrappers came up with their own interpretations of the layouts.

We hope to see you all again for our next crop on the 26th of January 2013 (not the usual third Saturday of the month but as close as we could manage).

The Merly Impressions November  Crop is nearly upon us so we thought we would let everyone know about the kit our croppers will be using on Saturday 17th November.

The kit uses the Kaisercraft collection called Just Believe which features versatile colours and patterns – a Christmas collection but it is also ideal for snowy, frosty or winter themed layouts.   The crop kit includes a total of eight sheets of printed paper, three sheets of Kaiser cardstock, two Boutique Buttons (designed by Morag Cutts), cotton and some berry embellishments.

The theme for the two layouts is Christmas, the layouts are called ‘Christmas Memories’ & ‘Joy’ but you can adapt your layouts and titles to suit your own photo’s.

The first layout which I have called ‘Christmas Memories’ uses one photo measuring 10cm wide by about 10cm high. I have used a colour photo but you could also use a black & white or sepia photo. The colours in this layout are mainly green and deep red, very traditional Christmas colours.

Christmas Memories layoutThe second layout which I have called ‘Joy’ uses one photo measuring 9cm wide by 11cm high. I have used a coloured photo again, the colours in this layout are mainly pale, frosty blues/greys and a touch of red.

Joy LayoutYou are obviously free to alter the title (and therefore the theme) of the layouts and you can also add journaling. I have also used a punch set and the Sew Easy tool which will be available to use on the day. We will also bring our usual supply of tools, the Cricut Expression machine, Grand Calibur and Big Shot to the crop if people would like to use it to create their own title or cut out other embellishments. Other items used on the layouts which you need to bring are a sewing needle if you want to do the sewing, Crystal Lacquer, a journal pen a green & pale Blue ink pad for inking round the edges. We will also have ink pads and Crystal Lacquer available to purchase on the day if you don’t have them. You will also need to bring a small pair of scissors because there is a little delicate cutting out on both of the layouts.

We will post full images and close-ups of the layouts after the November crop.

The kit will cost £10 on the day but is entirely optional and your seat is £5.00. The location of the crop, together with other details, can be found on our Crop Dates page.

There will also be the usual FABULOUS Merly Shop and for the Christmas themed November Crop we will supply gorgeous mince pies, Sausage Rolls and the usual muffins, choccies and biscuits, tea & coffee. Please bring your own lunch.

The kit uses Kaisercraft’s collection called Miss Match which features flowers, polaroid pictures and even crossword puzzles in very versatile colours including coral, green and marine blue. The kit includes a total of eight sheets of printed paper, two sheets of cardstock, Lemon Pearls, Miss Match Polaroids & some cotton and twine.

The theme for the two layouts is ‘Picture Perfect’ & ‘Memory’ but you can adapt your layouts to suit your photo’s.

The first layout which we have called ‘Picture Perfect’ uses one photo measuring 9cm wide by 9cm high. I have used a sepia photo but you could use a black & white photo or coloured photo. The colours in this layout are mainly green, blue, black & cream.

The second layout which we have called ‘Memory’ uses one photo measuring 9cm wide by 9cm high. I have used a coloured photo, the colours in this layout are mainly green, cream, red & orange.

Many thanks to the scrappers who made our July crop so much fun. We hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as much as we did.

The kit for July was based on the Lake House collection from Kaisercraft and included instructions and stash to make two layouts that we called “Unique” and “Hanging Around” although some scrappers came up with their own interpretations of the layouts.

We’ve had an increase in the numbers of attendees lately but Merley managed to keep up with things and make even more of her very popular Lemon and Raspberry Muffins. Thanks also to Margerita for the strawberry cake and to my lovely hubby Paul for the coffee cake.

For those who asked about the next crop we can confirm that it will be on the 15th September – we hope you can make it.

Thanks to our scrappers for making today so much fun. Below are some pictures taken on the day (click the image once to open it and click it again to close it).

The Merly Impressions July Crop is nearly upon us so we thought we would let everyone know about the kit our croppers will be using on Saturday 21st July.

The kit uses Kaisercraft’s collection called Lake House that features pretty flowers and vines in shades of dusty pink, green and chocolate brown. The kit includes a total of six sheets of printed paper, two sheets of cardstock, one bottle of Ranger Silver Liquid Pearls, Silver Rhinestones and some cotton.

The theme for the two layouts is ‘Unique’ & ‘Hanging around’ but you can adapt your layouts to suit your photo’s.

The first layout which we have called ‘Unique’ uses three photo’s measuring 6.5cm wide by 9cm high. I have used black & white photo’s and all the same image but you can of course use three different photos for this layout. The colours in this layout are mainly pink, green and a little bit of grey.

Unique sneak peek

The second layout which we have called ‘Hanging around’ uses two photo’s measuring 9cm wide by 12.5cm high. Again I have used black & white photo’s and the same image as these two photo’s over lap each other. The colours in this layout are mainly grey with a little black, so the black & white photo’s work very well.

Hanging Around sneak peek

You are obviously free to alter the title (and therefore the theme) of the layouts and you can also add journalling.  I have also used a punch and the Sew Stamper tool which will be available to use on the day.   We will also bring our usual supply of tools, the Cricut Expression machine, Grand Calibur and Big Shot to the crop if people would like to use it to create their own title or cut out other embellishments. Other items used on the layouts which you may need to bring are Crystal Lacquer, a journal pen and an Edge Scraper Tool, grey/silver and black ink pads. We will also have ink pads and Crystal Lacquer available to purchase on the day if you don’t have them. You will also need to bring a small pair of scissors because there is a little delicate cutting out on both of the  layouts :D :D

We will post full images and close-ups of the layouts after the July crop.

The kit will cost £10 on the day but is entirely optional and your seat is £5.00. The location of the crop, together with other details, can be found on our Crop Dates page.

Many thanks to the scrappers who made our May crop so successful. We hope everyone who attended had as much fun as we did.

The kit for May was based on the Charlotte’s Dream collection from Kaisercraft and included instructions and stash to make two layouts that we called “The Happy Couple” and “Family” although some scrappers interpreted the layouts very differently.

Famiglia layout

Since this was a special extended event (running until 8:00pm) we also put together a small Beyond-the-Page project to give our scrappers the chance to create a very personal Photo Display similar to the one below that I created as a sample.

BTP Photo Display

We also laid on a raffle with some lovely Kaisercraft prizes and some food for everyone so that we could go on crafting until 8:00pm. Thanks go to:

  • Annabelle for the fantastic food she laid on
  • Mim and Nathaniel (Annabelle’s husband and son) for their help on the day
  • Merley for the muffins and cupcakes she made
  • Paul’s Mum for making the (very popular) coffee and chocolate cakes

And thanks again to our scrappers for making it such a great day. Below are some pictures taken on the day (click the image once to open it and click it again to close it).
