Thankful For You with Premaveera

Hello, Karen here with my third project using ScrapBoys Primavera collection. I love all the pinks and greens that feature in this range and again, this layout features lots of fussy cutting, which the collection ‘cries out’ for.

I started by cutting an eighth of an inch from all four sides of Paper 02 and then cutting out the centre, using a scalpel, (I kept the centre to use on another layout).

Next, I cut the two patterned corners from Paper 01. I added the Paper 02 to a piece of Snow Weave Kaisercard, only sticking the outer edges down, and then tucked the two corners from Paper 02 under the top right and bottom left of the Paper 01 . I added mounting foam dots under some of the flowers and leaves to give some dimension to my page.

From Paper 06 I cut two identical frames, trimming the right side border from one and the left side border from the other. I then placed them side by side in the centre of my page. I added lots of birds from Paper 07.

I used the phrase stamps from Clear Stamps Anthology to add my title using Cotton Candy ink, at the top left and bottom right of my photo mounts. I also added some Rose pearls under my phases and scattered a few around the page, to add interest to my page.

To finish my page, after adding two 3in x 4in photos, I placed a curio under my left photo and above the right one.

I have one more project this month, using ScrapBoys Primavera collection and this one only has a tiny amount of fussy cutting :0)

Double Trouble in Paradise with Sunkissed by Kaisercraft

Hello Merly Impressions fans,

Today I would like to share with you a fun, multi-photo, double layout that I created using the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. I went for a fairly simple layout with few layers this time, however I add a little bit of fun mixed media. This is the perfect layout practice mixed media with because most of the back ground is covered in photos and any mistakes with it! Or if you love the background, you can simply use less photos. I have tried to capture a weekend trip to Palma, Mallorca, with this layout.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture1

To create this double layout I have used the instructions below:

  1. Take two sheets of KAISERCARD SNOW WEAVE CARDSTOCK and cut into three pieces 27.5, 24 and 4 cm wide and all 24 cm high.
  2. Take the smallest piece and add a leaf pattern by inking though TROPICAL LEAVES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL, using an ink blending tool with KAISERINK PAD – FOREST and KAISERINK PAD – BLUE HAZEMIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture2
  3. Apply Distress Oxide- Lucky Clover, Distress Oxide- Mermaid Lagoon and Distress Ink- Peacock Feathers to an INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET, spray with some water. Dip paper into the ink, repeat until you are happy with how it looks.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture3
  4. Take the two larger SNOW pieces and tape together behind. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on this larger section. MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture4
  5. Splatter with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – NAVY 50ML.
  6. Take two sheets of MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and trim off the bottom strips. From the centre of one, cut out a piece to use as a 11 x 14.1 cm photo frame for later. Tape MOJITO’s together create a double layout size. Using a rounded corner punch, punch the outside corners of the inked SNOW page and the double MOJITO. Adhere SNOW to MOJITO.
  7. Take the pre-prepared 4 cm SNOW strip and adhere to the left side of the layout. To the centre of this strip adhere the bottom strips from DAQUIRI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTIONFOAM TAPE the bottom strip from MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION onto the top of the other bottom strips.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture5
  8. Cut leaves from LEMON LIME – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and foam tape the section of three leaves together to the left side of the layout and the large single leaf to the bottom right.
  9. Prepare 4 photo mats with dimensions of 10.7 x 10.7 cm from the zig-zag and green spotted sheets from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED. Adhere 4 photos with dimensions of 9.8 x 9.8 cm. Adhere the 4 matted photos to the centre of the layout.
  10. Take pre-prepared photo frame from Step 6, adhere to photo (10 x13 cm) and adhere to the right side on the layout on top of the large leaf.
  11. Take the leaves (with same shape as in Step 9) from the COLLECTABLES – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and cut them from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION. Tuck and glue them under various photo corners.
  12. Together with Native Breeze

Hello, Karen here with my second project using the very colourful Native Breeze collection. For this layout I wanted to focus on all the lovely sentiments from the Southern Sky cut-a-part paper.

I started by gutting a 1 inch frame from the reverse of Gum Leaves. I then trimmed the Native Flock paper down to an 11 in square and adhered this to the Gum Leaves frame.  Finally I added the piece of Gum Leaves that I had gutted from the middle of the frame.  I then used black embroidery thread to stitch around the Native Flock Paper.

Once my stitching was complete, I started to build up my page by adding the four 3in squares from Southern Sky to a piece of red paper, from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, and placing this in the centre of my page. My photos were then added.

I added as many pieces, cut from Southern Sky, to my page as I could fit, choosing the ones that fitted best with my two photos.  To complete this part of my layout I filled in any gaps with word phrases from the Sticker Book and Collectables Pack.

On either side of my central block I added flowers cut from Banksia Bouquet and the corrisponding page from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, using flowers and leaves from the Collectables Pack to fill in any gaps and to extend my clusters at the top and bottom of each spray.

IMG_2798 IMG_2797

For my title I used the word ‘Together’ – from the Collectables Pack along with a geotag at either end and a flower underneath, these were also from the Collectables Pack.

Finally I added two Collectables circles and a curio to the middle of my page.

Using the  Southern Sky cut-a-parts was a lovely way to document two of my favourite family photos.

Birthday Tea Party with Oh Happy Day

Hello, Karen here with my final project for January using the Oh Happy Day collection from Kaisercraft.

This time I decided to make a multi-photo layout using lots of Curios, Collectables, Stickers and pop-outs from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.  They were perfect for clustering in a circle around my five photos.

Birthday Tea Party

For this layout I have used Party Popper, 100’s and 1000’s and Starlight 12 x 12 papers,  Curios, collectables, sticker book, 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, Lemonade Kaisercard,   Sea Breeze Alpha silver rhinestones  and Fireworks stencil.

I started by cutting the  Party Popper and 100’s and 1000’s paper diagonally and then cutting .25 in from both the straight sides.  This was adhered to the Lemonade Kaisercard with a .5 in wide piece of Starlight covering the join.  I drew a pencil circle on the middle of my page and added the words ‘Birthday Tea’ using Sea Breeze Alpha.IMG_1952

I added my five photos to the circle then used the  Fireworks stencil and some texture paste to add little bursts to my page.  I only spread the paste through individual bursts so that I was able to easily determine where they would be placed.

All that remained was to fill in the circle around my photos using stickers, pop outs from the 6.5 x 6.5 sticker book, collectables, elements cut from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and I cut the words from some of the bingo cards on the 100’s and 1000’s paper.  I also dotted some silver rhinestones around the page. IMG_2060

To finish my page I added three Curios to the centre of three of the bursts.

The ‘Party’ banner, from the collectables pack, was a perfect finish to my page.

Happy Birthday with Oh Happy Day

I have to say I am loving working with the Oh Happy Day collection and love the bright, cheery colours and the retro patterns on the papers which all have beautiful gold foiling.  I have used it to make a multi photo layout documenting Gracia’s 18th birthday, which was 8 years ago!

finished layout

For this layout I have used Snow Weave Kaisercard, Time to Party, Fire Cracker, Garlands and Star Light 12 x 12 papers, collectables, curios, sticker book6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and Mounting Foam Dots.

I started by cutting .5 in from two adjacent sides of the Time to Party paper, which I then stuck to the Snow Weave Kaisercard.  On top of this I added a piece of Fire Cracker which I had cut to 9ins square, finally to this I added a 8.5in square piece of Star Light.

I mounted my photographs onto some scraps of white card.  I used four 2in x 3in photos and one 3in x 4in.   These were added to the bottom of my paper with the bottom of the photo mounts lined up with the bottom of the Star Light paper.  Next I fussy cut the ‘Happy Birthday’ penant from the Garlands paper and added to the bottom of my page with a Curio at the point where the two words meet. A border from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad was added above the three right hand photos.

I stuck the ‘Wishing You The Best Day Ever’ sticker to a scrap of card, along with the pennants (both were from the sticker book)  and cut them out with a thin white border.   These were added to the top of my page with a star, also from the sticker book to either side of the pennants.

I typed my journaling onto a word document and adhered a page from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad onto a piece of A4 card and fed this through my printer to get the text printed onto the blue paper.

Once I had cut my journaling into strips and added to my page.  I subsequently realised I had ‘and Josh’ twice and have snipped off the second one.  I added a cluster of phrases to the top right of my photos using collectables, a pop out from the  6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and a ticket also cut from the paper pad, finishing off with a curio and star.

I completed my page by adding collectables and stickers to my photographs.

We would love to see what you have made with this collection and you can post your makes on the Merly Crop Facebook page.

Birthday Cards and Holder with Oh Happy Day

When Chrissy sent me the Oh Happy Day collection I knew, immediately, that I wanted to make some Birthday cards with it.  I like to make a quick holder if I make a set of cards to keep them together or, along with the set of cards, for a readily available present if I need one in a hurry.

Cut a piece of Lemonade Kaisercard to measure 7.5ins x 12 ins and score at 5.5 ins and 6.5 ins.

Cut two pieces of Bright Bursts measuring 5ins x 7in and one piece .75 ins x 7 ins.  Also, cut two pieces of Yey measuring 5 ins x 7 ins.

Adhere the Bright Bursts pieces to the front, back and spine of the folder.

Cut two pieces of ribbon (this was from my own supplies) and add to the left and right of the inside and on top of these glue the pieces of Yey .

From the remaining piece of Lemonade Kaisercard, cut two pieces 4 x 6.  Score at .25in, .75inm 5.25in and 5.75 ins, then score at .25 and .75 from the bottom.

Trim away the bottom corners and fold the bottom and sides to form pockets.  Adhere one to each side of the card holder approx .25in from the bottom.

Cut two pieces of Yay  2.75 x 4in and glue to the front of each pocket.

To decorate my cover I cut a rectangular piece of Snow Weave Kaisercard and an offset frame, also from Snow Weave Kaisercard.

I covered  these with some paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad. To finish the front of the card holder I decorated it  Collectables, stickers from the sticker bookCurios and ‘pop outs’ from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad

For the cards I used six 4 x 6 cards from my own supplies and a combination of papers and pop outs, from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, stickers from the sticker book, Collectables, and fussy cut elements, also from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.

Card 2

Card 3

Card 4

Card 5

Card 6

All six cards and envelopes fitted perfectly into the pockets in my card folder.

I think you will agree that the Oh Happy Day collection is perfect for making beautiful cards.  I did think I would give these ones away as a little gift for a friend but now am in two minds about that as I like them too much.

Twist and Pop Mini Album with Uncharted Waters.

Hello, Karen here with my second project using Uncharted Waters.  I was really excited to see if I could make a mini album using the instructions here for making a twist and pop card.

I started by cutting a piece of Kaisercraft Snow Weave card into three 12in x 4in pieces to use as my card bases.  I covered the inside of each card with a piece of paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and then made the internal mechanism, using thin white card, as in the instructions above.   The cards were stuck one on top of the other to make a stack of three.  I turned the stack around to make my album landscape rather than portrait and began to decorate it.

I used two pieces of paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to cover the front and back of my album. I then added some stickers from the Sticker Book and some Collectables, a curio,  finishing off with a phrase strip from the bottom of one of the papers.

I decorated my pages with some pieces of paper and pop outs from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, stickers from the sticker book and a phrase from the Shallows 12 x 12 paper.

My other two pages were decorated in the same way.

I really enjoyed constructing this project and adding photos from when my daughter got engaged earlier in the year. I am going to give it to my mum as a little extra Christmas present.

Seaside Adventures with Uncharted Waters

Hello, Karen here with the first of my projects using Uncharted Waters. It seems strange working with seaside photos when its cold and frosty outside!  For my first project I decided to use an embroidery hoop as a frame for my home decore – I have seen several of these used in this way recently, and was itching to have a go.

IMG_1351 I cut a circle from Pelagic which was .5 inch larger than my inside hoop. To this I added a torn piece of Seashore to the bottom, I though this would look like sand.   Than I snipped all around the edge of the circle and secured it into my hoop.

I used White Iridescent Kaisermist to add splatters all over the papers.

I placed a frame, from the collectables pack, to the top left of my photo and  a ‘Wild and Free’ sticker from the Sticker Book.

I then used phrases from the collectables pack and the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to create a cluster at the top left of my photo, finishing the cluster with a curio.

On the top left of my frame I used starfish and shells from the collectables pack and the Sticker Book.  I used a die, from my own stash, to cut some ‘seaweed’ from a page out of the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.

At the bottom of my frame I used collectables and wooden fluorishes, which were raised on foam pads, together with two more pieces of seaweed.

Finally I used a phrase from the Shallows paper for my title.

I really enjoyed making this project and can’t wait to show you what I have made for my second project this month.

Until than I hope you can find some crafty time and I hope I have inspired you to try something different with the Uncharted Waters collection.

The Makers of Pretty Things with Crafternoon

Karen here with my last project, this month, using the Crafternoon Range.  This time I wanted to celebrate a group of friends who craft together and we call ourselves ‘The Makers of Pretty Things’.  There is a story behind the name which I can’t reveal – suffice to say it makes us giggle whenever we think about it.

I started by cutting out three hearts, in decreasing sizes, from Crafty, Measured and Back Stitch. I stitched around the smallest (Back Stitch) heart with white embroidery floss and then stuck them all to the centre of a piece of Snow Weave cardstock.  My 5in x 7in photo was added on centrally on the right and I used my Silhouette to cut a title from a scrap of Back Stitch and backed it with a scrap of Snow Weave cardstock which I also cut a tag from.

Next I fussy cut some doilies from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and placed these at the bottom left and top right of my hearts.

Then I cut some flowers and leaves using Decorative Die – DIY Flora Peony to make some flowers and  Decorative Die – Rose and Leaves for the leaves from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, these were added on top of the doilies, with Aqua rhinestones for centres.

To finish my page I added a selection of Collectables.

Some stickers from the Sticker Book and a Curio.

IMG_1055 IMG_1057

I have been able to make such a verity of projects from this range celebrating my daughter’s first venture into dressmaking, my favourite scrapbook pages and a crafting friendship.  I absolutely adore the colour palette of this range and hope we have inspired you to use it on some of your projects.

Merry Christmas with Peppermint Kisses

Hi everyone,

Denise here with my second layout using the lovely Peppermint Kisses Collection IMG_2797 R2B2

In this layout I am focusing on using the Collectables Pack . I love these little packs of die cuts, they are usually the first thing I go to when receiving my box to work with. I love to open the pack and look through them all to see what I can do with them.

I started with a 12 x 12 paper called Minty for my base, then cut down a sheet of Wrapped Up paper next.IMG_2784I painted  a Christmas Tree and a Merry Christmas sentiment from the Wooden Flourishes Pack and left them to dry .

Next i decided on my photo then matted it onto some paper from the Paper Pad and some Crimson Weave Cardstock

I decided to place my photo on the left side of the layout, then decorated around it with lots of die cuts and the wood flourishes.IMG_2797IMG_2797 RBIMG_2785

The die cuts from the Collectables were raised up on Foam Tape to add dimension .

I drew some little dots above the baubles to look like they were hanging down.

Finally I used some of the Curios to decorate in between the die cuts.IMG_2797 R2

I hope you have enjoyed this, I’m loving working with this collection.

Happy scrapping !

~ Denise ~
