Today I would like to share with you a fun, multi-photo, double layout that I created using the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. I went for a fairly simple layout with few layers this time, however I add a little bit of fun mixed media. This is the perfect layout practice mixed media with because most of the back ground is covered in photos and any mistakes with it! Or if you love the background, you can simply use less photos. I have tried to capture a weekend trip to Palma, Mallorca, with this layout.
To create this double layout I have used the instructions below:
Apply Distress Oxide- Lucky Clover, Distress Oxide- Mermaid Lagoon and Distress Ink- Peacock Feathers to an INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET, spray with some water. Dip paper into the ink, repeat until you are happy with how it looks.
Take the two larger SNOW pieces and tape together behind. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on this larger section.
Take two sheets of MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and trim off the bottom strips. From the centre of one, cut out a piece to use as a 11 x 14.1 cm photo frame for later. Tape MOJITO’s together create a double layout size. Using a rounded corner punch, punch the outside corners of the inked SNOW page and the double MOJITO. Adhere SNOW to MOJITO.
Cut leaves from LEMON LIME – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and foam tape the section of three leaves together to the left side of the layout and the large single leaf to the bottom right.
Prepare 4 photo mats with dimensions of 10.7 x 10.7 cm from the zig-zag and green spotted sheets from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED. Adhere 4 photos with dimensions of 9.8 x 9.8 cm. Adhere the 4 matted photos to the centre of the layout.
Take pre-prepared photo frame from Step 6, adhere to photo (10 x13 cm) and adhere to the right side on the layout on top of the large leaf.
Today I would like to share with you a very vibrant yellow and black themed layout that I created using the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. This yellow, pineapple patterned paper really caught my attention from this collection, I just had to create something quick and fun with it. This layout could be created with many fun photos but I decided to choose a beach themed one to get into the summer feel, as the weather is warming up for us here in the Northern Hemisphere.
Take MINI BACKGROUND STAMP – SCREEN and adhere to an ACRYLIC STAMPING BLOCK. Because all Distress Inks are water based, they do not work well with any acrylic stamp unless the stamp is “dirty” or sanded lightly. To get a crisp image I first ink the stamp with a non water based ink and then directly on top I use the Oxide Ink. This is so the image is crisp but will run when water is added. Stamp along bottom and in the area where you plan to adhere matted photo.
Apply Black Soot-Oxide Ink to an INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET, spray water on top and place layout on top in areas you would like the spattered black ink. Repeat until happy with the effect.
Take the pineapple sheet from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and use an ink blending tool and Distress Oxide- Black Soot to ink the whole sheet. Use a tissue or wet wipe to remove the ink from the glossy pineapples.
Cut the pineapple sheet to 14.8 x 9.2 cm and frame photo (12.8 x 8.4 cm). Cut two squares from the pineapple paper 3.5 x 3.5 cm. Cut the squares in half diagonally but in opposite directions to always have the pineapples facing the right way.
Cut KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 15.6 x 10 cm and adhere to photo stack. Cut two 4 x 4 cm squares of INK and then diagonally. Adhere the pineapple triangles to the INK triangles and FOAM TAPE one to each corner of the layout.
The LILY AND MOSS Collection is just perfect for simple, but bold and contrasting layouts such as this one I have created here. I have used a lovely black and white wedding photo as the focus and main colours of this layout. I have then added a flare of pink. I have even slipped in some of my favourite mixed media techniques. Kaisercraft’s LILY AND MOSS Collection is just perfect if you wish to use a black and white photos or if one if your favourite colours is pink!
To create this lovely layout, I have followed these steps:
Apply Tim Holtz Oxide Ink- Black Soot to INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET and spritz with some water. Lay your layout into the liquid in a way that you introduce the black ink to the area you have stamped. It is really nice to see that the black ink takes to the pink ink and adopts the pattern of the stamp in some areas.
I was very excited to receive the GRAND BAZAAR collection to work on for this month. As soon as I saw it, I just knew I had the perfect photos to scrap using it! I think this collection is good for many different types of projects, from love photos, to adventures and childhood memories. It also very suitable for Male layouts and all sorts of greetings cards. This collection has many colours which can be used all together in a project, or separated to focus on just 2 or 3 colours. I found that my photos suited the more selective type of colours. For example, I have focused on the blue, red and white for this layout, as it matches the clothing I am wearing in the photo. The pattern of this collection also matches the skirt and the touches of yellow and brown compliment the trees and grass in the background of the photo. I also really like how the large “love” word sticker suits the spots on the Dalmatian puppies that I am expressing loving.
To create this layout I have followed the steps below:
Select the larger patterned strip with the the more reddish tones. Using a CRAFT KNIFE, cut along the yellow lines of the “four petal flower” shape, from the left side. Curl the “petals” up. To create a 3d flower, use the knife again on the same pattern on the right. However, this time only cut the tips of the “petals” and curl them up. FOAM TAPE the pre-cut “flower” at a 45 degree angle, in the middle of the one of the right hand side of the strip.
Take the two smaller patterned strips with a blueish tone and use the craft knife to cut the tips of all three “flowers” in both strips. Take the other strips and cut out 6 “flowers” in total and foam tape in the middle of the other ones.
I have created this busy, beachy, technique filled, double layout using the lovely UNCHARTED WATERS collection by Kaisercraft. This collection is gender neutral, making it perfect for all beach themed photos. I just love this collection with all the shells, beach creatures and boat related items! Since blue is my favourite colour, I love this collection for its colours too and because it is very suitable to co-ordinate in those mixed media effects. I thoroughly enjoyed incorporating oxide inks, background stamping, texture pasting, fussy-cutting, paper ripping and cheesecloth tucking techniques in this project!
Use an INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET or baking paper for background inking techniques and a mix of blue Distress Oxide and RANGER DISTRESS INK PADS. Using the oxide inks first, take the darkest and smear it in a line on the craft sheet spray water on top of the ink. Take the ivory card stock and dip it in the watery ink, turn over and dry using a craft heat gun or hair dryer. Apply the rest of the ink and repeat drying. Excess ink can be removed using a wet cloth.
Repeat with each colour, layer over the previous and adding the Distress Ink last
Tape the two Ivory sheets with home-made background together to create a double sized layout. Cut two 6.5 cm strips of STREAK – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and adhere to the two short sides of the layout. Cut a 14 cm strip from the bottom of TIDE POOL – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION slowly and gently rip this strip in half diagonally using your hands. Attach one piece to the top left and the other to the bottom right of the layout. Take the left over strip of TIDE POOL – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and also rip it diagonally and tuck each piece under the other corner pieces to create a layered effect.
Emmy here today with my first post for September. The end of the summer is almost here and I have about a thousand new pictures from our outdoor adventures. And of course one of Kaisercraft’s newest collections is all about enjoying the great outdoors – Mountain Air (available at Merly Impressions online store).
To create the layers under my picture, I used various pattern papers from the Paper pad and Strong and Brave pattern papers. I cut off three panels with different size, distressed their edges and arranged them under the picture as shown. The grey tire stripes I cut off from the Spare Parts pattern paper.
