Memories with Antiquities

Hi everyone, Denise here with my first layout using the Antiquities collection

IMG_9604-R-B 2This collection has beautiful tones including a striking mustard which complements the sepia and blue perfectly.

I decided to make my first layout one with a vintage feel as I have a photo of my mum when she was young  and thought it would go really well.

I used a sheet of ‘ Rare’  paper first and using the script side I used Texture Paste around the layout through the co – ordination Distressed Dots mini stencil.

Distressed Dots 6x6 Designer StencilIMG_9591I decided to use a frame  which I cut out from the Precious paper and mounted on foam tape over my base paper.

My layers of paper under my photo were a few of the papers from the paper pad. First off, I embossed some of them with the Distressed  embossing folder.

IMG_9592

I distressed the edges with a paper distresser

Next, I layered lots of die cuts from the Collectables Pack and Sticker Book all around the photo.

IMG_9618

I adore the little sheet with the circles and fussy cut some diamond shapes then used the edges layered up to make a flower. IMG_9603

Finally I used to words Love and Memories together with the date which I cut from a paper in   the paper pad.

Thanks for visiting and Happy Crafting !

May 2019 Merly Crop & Kit

Hi Everyone,
What a fabulous May Crop we had yesterday and thank you so very much to everyone who attended and made the day so very special indeed. There was lots of crafting, chatting and a super afternoon tea, Paul’s homemade bread went down well and It was lovely catching up with everyone.

For the kit I used the beautiful “Paisley Days” Kaisercraft collection. Included in the crop kit were detailed instructions and stash to make two layouts.

PaisleyDays_Logo

Below are photo’s of the layouts I created for the kit. Here is the first layout which I’ve called “Life is full of choices” I focused on using the pink, yellow & white papers for this layout. It features lots of intricate fussy cutting (mainly from the Gypsy, paper) stitching and lots of layers. I have used a black & white photo measuring 12cm wide x 10cm high, a coloured photo would also work.

ooo2

……and here is the second layout which I’ve called: “Believe in your dreams” – for this layout I have focused on using the beautiful teal/blue tones. I have fussy cut the delicate florals and paisley designs, there is also colour coordinating stitching and I have used the paisley embossing folder behind the photo which measures 10cm wide x 13cm high

The kit is now available to purchase in the Merly Impressions on-line shop – it can be found in the Layout Kits section of the website.

With Love with First Noel

Hello,

Karen here with my first page using the First Noel collection (I have a YouTube of my unboxing of this luscious kit here) which is the final Kaisercraft Christmas range for 2018.  Again this has a very different and contemporary look focusing on gold, gray, black and white with gold foil accents.

1

As soon as I saw that the range featured presents I knew exactly which photo I wanted to use – one taken of Gracia when she was three.

I decided to try using my present embossing folder as a letterpress and inked the debossed side with black ink and run it through my Big Shot.  It didn’t give a perfect print but I really liked that some areas were a little faded and distressed.  Next I cut out the two piles of presents .

6

I cut two rows of presents from Wrapped and was ready to start assembling my page.  I started with a piece of Elephant Ears card to which I added the gray side of Starry, having cut half an inch from one side and the bottom.

To this I added the Wrapped piece at the bottom of the page.  I added my photo on foam tape to the back of my photo, leaving about 1 inch clear on all sides and placed it on the right side of my page.  I tucked the two embossed piles of gifts either side.  At the bottom of my photo I added a border from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad, which I tied around with a piece of gold and white baker’s twine (from my own supplies) and added a tag, also from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad.

2

I then stuck another piece of gold and white baker’s twine to the top of my page and added pieces from the Collectables pack and the wooden flourish pack to make a garland across the top of my page.

4 7

Finally, I used a piece of Celebrate Tape for my title and added three deep yellow rhinestones to either side of the border at the bottom of my photo.

3

So there we have my first project this month.  I have already made my second one to show you later in the month and that one has a very different feel to it!

Christmas Blessings with Peace and Joy

Christmas Blessings

Hello, hello – Karen here with my second Peace and Joy project  For this one I really wanted to emphasise the lovely Christmassy feel that the papers convey and so decided to focus on the all the poinsettias that feature in this range.

First I took the Joyful gloss speciality paper and inked it with green and red ink – see video below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlqLsFnBOzo&feature=youtu.be

Once I had coloured my paper I cut a piece of Rejoicing to 8ins tall and 11 ins wide and added this to my Joyful paper.

IMG_4278

I mounted my photograph onto two pieces of paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.  I stuck a  Gold paper doily to the centre of my page 2 ins from the top and added the photo stack to the top of this, I then added a circular embellishment from the Collectables Pack , tucking it between the two paper photo mounts.

IMG_4281

Next I used the Poinsettia embossing folder and embossed three pieces of 6 x 4 white card. I cut the flowers from two of them and added them to the join at the top of the Rejoicing paper.  I added the third piece of embossed card centrally underneath my photo.

IMG_4280

To the top of the embossed card I placed the swag of foliage and flowers from the sticker sheet.  On top of this I added some flowers cut from Cheer and Merry papers and from the corresponding papers from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad.

IMG_4279

I took one of the border strips from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad and added it to the bottom of my piece of embossed card.  I used a piece from the Collectables Pack at the centre bottom and then added three Fire Red Paper Blooms to my page.  All that was left to do was to add a title using the Red Alpha Sticker Sheet.

IMG_4282

I think I have achieved what I set out to do and have a lovely Christmassy page featuring Gracia at her second Christmas when she was 19months.  Note the Holly hair bobble that I made and she had to wear – poor girl :0)

# Blessed with Misty Mountains

Hi everyone,

Denise here with my second layout using the  Misty Mountains Kaisercraft collection.

IMG_9813-resize banner

For this layout I used one of the embossing folders from the collection Triangle Trees.

Firstly I took a sheet of Lilac Weave card, cut it down then placed it inside the embossing folder.

IMG_9675

I ran it through the die cutting machine.

IMG_9677 IMG_9799

I distressed the edges with a distressing tool.Next I used a Tim Holtz stencil and some White Texture Paste across the middle of a piece of Coconut Weave card.

IMG_9800So now to put it all together. I used the white card as my base. I used some torn strips of 12 x 12  papers layered on each other placed at the bottom and top of the layout. I also took the large flowers from the Sticker Sheet and placed underneath the strips.IMG_9813I tucked some of the die cuts from the Collectables pack under the strips. I used the embossed lilac card pieces as mats for my photo.IMG_9812I also used some Kaisermist to flick around the layout at the end.

Lots of collectables were scattered around to finish off. IMG_9813I hope you like this collection as much as I have liked working with it.

Letters from Santa Scrapbook Layout

Good morning everyone.

Elaine here again bringing you a layout using the beautiful, traditional Letters From Santa newly released collection.

imageTo create this page I used the Poinsettia Garland sheet as my base and cut it down to a piece 11″ x 11″. I kept the 1″ strip for use later. I then mounted it on to a piece of gutted Be Merry paper. I then punched two sections along the edge of the first paper.

imageI then took a 6″ square of the Holly and Berries paper and mounted it centrally with the 1″ strip of the Poinsettia Garland paper that we saved earlier across the middle. I inked all the sections with the Vintage ink pad.

I then took a piece of Moss Weave Kaisercard and mounted all the photos. These were placed centrally and a further two at angles as shown. I then took the Holly embossing folder and used a section of the Moss Weave card and embossed it, cutting it into triangles to make the bunting that I then added to the top of the page. I followed the line of the printed garland with Cherry Red Cord and added the embossed triangles. I also inked the edges with the same Vintage ink pad. As a final flourish to the bunting I used a pen from the Kaisercolour Gel Pens to highlight some of the raised elements and added some Lippy Red Rhinestones in between each flag.

imageFor the cluster in the top right hand corner I used collectables from the Letters from Santa Collectables Pack and the Poinsettia Decorative Die for the large flower and leaves. I also used the gel pens to again highlight some of the raised features.

imageI used Deep Yellow Rhinestones for the centre of the Poinsettias at the top and bottom corners and I added a flourish of the Red Hemp Cord in the top cluster.

imageI finished with some more red rhinestones as berries on some the holly and a journalling tag from the collectables pack.

imageI loved looking back on my photos from last year to create this layout and this fabulous collection really did them justice. I look forward to seeing your layouts too.

imageEnjoy!

Elaine

A trio of Party Time cards

Today I’m bringing you three very different cards yet all made using the versatile Party Time Kaisercraft collection.

imageFirstly I made this twist and pop card here for a male birthday.

image

image

imageI was inspired by this tutorial here on the Kaisercraft blog from their talented design team member Colette Mitegra. She gives a wonderful description of how to make it so do pop over and have a look!

I used the Confetti paper from the collection for the inside (using Kaisercard Duck Egg For the base) and the embossing folder for the outside and I used the hemp cord for a finishing touch along with the emojis from the sticker sheet, the banner and bunting from the collectables pack and some Sunshine epoxy stickers.

To finish it off inside I used some sayings cut from the Hooray sheet and more stickers and some collectables from the Party Time pack.

I was also inspired to create one using the same method, using the gorgeous Glisten collection that we shared with you last month.

fullsizerender-73 fullsizerender-74To show how versatile the Party Time collection is I used the 6″ paper pad to create this card too.

imageIt is a simple Z card fold..(easily found in You Tube) and I added lots of elements from the sticker sheet and the collectables pack set on white card embossed with the embossing folder . Perfect for a child don’t you think?

Finally I made this card using the pleat fold method (also easily found on You Tube) for the females in your life.

imageI used the embossed party time paper from the 6″ pad mounted on White Kaisercard and folded the Cotton Candy paper to create the folded central piece..(you need double sided paper for this) . I used the die cut scalloped border from the 6″ pad and added the sentiment from the collectables pack and the two die cut roses from the pack to finish it off.

It is rare to find a pack so adaptable for so many occasions so this collection has gone straight to the top of my favourites list!

Have fun!

Elaine
