March 16th 2019 – Merly Crop & Layout kit preview

Hi Everyone,

There is just under a week to go until our March 16th 2019 Merly Crop, so here are the details of the crop and sneak peeks of the layouts that you will be able to create using the kit. For the kit I have used papers from the beautiful  Greenhouse” Kaisercraft collection.

CollectionFan_Greenhouse

Also supplied in the kit are pale pink & pale green DMC thread, 3 x Kaiser card in pale green, pink & light blue, green rhinestones, and a circle template. For those buying the kit online after the crop – added die-cut butterflies, succulents & title. Also supplied are detailed instructions with coloured photo’s for you to follow, so you can create the two layouts that I have designed, at your own pace.

Below are some sneak peeks of the first layout which I’ve called “There is always something to be thankful for”

This layout features lots of beautiful fussy cut blue/green blooms, succulents, and foliage, punched butterflies in pale pink and green, I have distressed the paper edges and added colour coordinating hand stitching all over the layout. To finish off I’ve added scrunched up cotton & pearls to some of the centres of the succulents. My coloured photo (printed 3 times), measures 8.5cm wide x 10.5cm high. I have added a title to the bottom of my layout which came from one of the info strips on the papers.

Below are some sneak peeks of the second layout which I’ve called “Beautiful”

This layout features pretty punch around the page edges, hand stitching in pastel pink & green and lots of beautiful fussy cut succulents, cacti, blooms and a terrarium, I have also used the Kaisercraft coordinating die cut: Outline Succulent. Other elements on the layout are  pretty punched butterflies and ice green pearls. My coloured photo measures 13.5cm square – it is matted behind the inward circle layers.

Other items used on the layouts which you may want to bring are a paper edge distresser,  colour coordinating ink pads, I have used the Kaisercraft Petal Pink mini ink pad & the Kaisercraft Cotton Candy ink pad for inking around the edges. A needle for sewing (if you want to do it) foam pads and a small pair of scissors as there is some fussy cutting on both layouts. We will however have a selection of ink pads & Foam dots/roll, available to purchase in the on site Merly shop.

I have also used the WRMK Sew Easy Tool, the Kaisercraft Outline Succulents die a butterfly punch (large & small). A Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set. We will however bring these items to the crop for people to use and our other usual supply of tools including the Big Shot machine & a small selection of other punches and dies.

You Are So Very Loved with Stargazer

Hello,

Karen here with the second of my pages using the Stargazer Kaisercraft collection.  This beautiful range is so versatile and is perfect for male or female projects.

33995684_10212163141017665_5450737308816900096_n

For this page I started by cutting 1 inch from the top and one side of a piece of white cardstock.  I then drew a .5 in border and drew 9 three inch squares with .5 in space between them.  I stuck this onto a piece of Starry Night paper.  I cut nine 3 in squares from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and adhered one of these to each of the 3 in squares on the white card.

33846818_10212163142497702_7791795983251144704_n

I cut four phrases measuring 2.75 square from the Galaxy paper and used mounting foam dots  to stick these to each corner square.

I added my photo, again using foam dots, to the centre square and finally added lots of Collectables, some Dark Blue Rhinestones and a doily from my own supplies to the four remaining squares.

I have loved using this collection and am plotting and planning for my last Stargazer project for June.

We May Not Have It All with Pen and Ink

Hello,

Karen here with my second page using the lovely Pen and Ink Kaisercraft collection.  I love how this range looks just as beautiful using coloured photographs as well as vintage or black and white ones.

31791193_10211988146882921_8979093568576552960_n_edited-1

For this page I have used butterflies, phrases and lace border from the sticker sheet and flowers and butterflies from the Collectables pack.

I started with a piece of Licorice cardstock, placed a medium sized plate in the centre and drew around this. I added a 6 x 4 piece of card where I wanted my photo to be.  I then cut two of the phrase stickers into pieces and arranged them around the circle.

31919413_10211988151963048_539317364026507264_n

I used the butterfly from the Pen and Ink stamp set and some Walnut Stain ink to stamp three butterflies – two onto the reverse of Chandelier and one onto the reverse of Layered.  I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how large the butterfly stamp was.

31663879_10211988151523037_4234389943385849856_n I ‘fussy cut’ the stamped butterflies and arranged them in the centre of my circle of words.

31815415_10211988149362983_5608112061662887936_n_edited-1Next I added a piece of the lacy border strip from the sticker sheet to the bottom right of my page.  After adding my photo, tucking it under one of the butterflies, I added flowers and butterflies from the Collectables pack to the top right and bottom left.  I roughly cut lots of butterflies from the Etchings paper, until I had enough to go around the words circle.

31946318_10211988144842870_4444348118275719168_n

I ‘fussy cut’ these out.  As you can see above, I originally planned to have butterflies from the sticker sheet at the top right and bottom left of my page but changed my mind in the end.

The last thing to do was to add a phrase from one of the branding strips at the bottom of the papers as my title and to cut apart the butterfly border sticker and add these small butterflies to the flower clusters above and to the left of my photo.

I cannot emphasise how gorgeous this paper range is and my photographs certainly do not do it justice.

Loved with Pen and Ink

Hello,

Karen here with the first of my projects for May using Pen and Ink Kaisercraft collection.  I have to confess that when I saw this range I begged Chrissy to send it to me for my DT projects as it was so gorgeous and such a usable collection.

31056924_10211906994454161_7942720622931476480_n_edited-1I am experimenting with mixed media at the moment and trying to push myself out of my comfort zone so thought I would try something I hadn’t tried before with this project.

I cut a 1 inch frame from Vanilla cardstock and cut 1 inch from the top and one side of the Lacey paper.  On the spotty side I inked around the edges with Walnut Stain ink and mounted it onto the Vanilla frame.

I then used the Collage 6 x 6 stencil and some texture past in the top right and bottom left of my page.  I used crackle paste but this one would work just as well.

31206182_10211906997494237_1447056722056183808_n

I rubbed some ink onto the top of the texture paste.

31131644_10211906997294232_622938079472123904_n_edited-1

Next I cut a piece of the Vanilla card, saved from above, to 9.5 ins x 4, for a photo mount and used the stencil and Walnut Stain ink to give this a pattern.  I used foam pads to stick this to my page.

31093361_10211906995654191_2188942417552474112_n_edited-1

I tore two pieces of Ephemera paper and trimmed them to 9.5 ins wide, inked the edges and added to my layout at the top and bottom of the Vanilla photo mount.

Next I cut three bingo cards from Stamps and added to the photo mount.

31143668_10211906994654166_6373786601759178752_n

After adding my photos I tucked as many of the cards from the Collectables pack as I could fit under the pieces of Ephemera paper.

31069080_10211906997974249_456341001049473024_n_edited-1

Finally I used a flower cluster and the word love from the Collectables pack to make my title.
