When I started this layout the idea was to use up all my scraps of similar colours of papers. Unfortunately that’s not quite how it worked since I decided that I just had to go with a complete collection,  in this case the Kaisercraft Dancing Jewel collection, since it worked particularly well with the colours in the photo.

The photo on the layout was taken several years ago just after my daughter had started Reception year at school. We took this photo of her when she arrived home especially happy after a good day at school.

A Dancing Jewel Layout

I cut lots of strips from the Dancing Jewel Collection, inked round all the edges and then stuck them to the French Vanilla Bazzill Cardstock. I also cut out and layered some of the Dragonflys and flowers from the same collection. The Black Rub-ons from the Secret Bird Society collection worked really well with the Dragonflys and the rhinestones add sparkle to the layout.

The design of the layout was inspired by a class on Two Peas in a Bucket and by my friend Karen (thanks Karen, xxx).

I used the following products to make the layout:

This lovely photo had been waiting for two years to be scrapped and then, when the Kaisercraft Bubblegum Hills Collection was released in March, I knew that, with it’s gorgeous Butterflies, I’d found the perfect papers for the photo.

The photo was taken at my sisters wedding. It was a lovely day and Merley and her two cousins were having fun playing and running around the garden in their pretty dresses, like butterflies flitting around in the sun.

Little Girls and Butterflies

I used the reverse of the Sherbet paper from the Candy Lane collection (with its subtly distressed pink patterning) as the background and cut out lots of Glitter Butterflies from the lovely Fruity Galaxy Glitter paper to layer along a stitched line (created with the WRMK Sew Easy tool). I used a few of the border strips from the Candy Confetti paper and cut out and layered the flowers from the Calipso Punch paper. The Bubblegum Hills collection has some fabulous rub-ons so I used a combination of both the colour and black ones on this layout. The rub-on saying ‘Little Girls Like Butterflies Need No Excuse’ (from RB916) couldn’t be any more perfect for this layout.

I used the following products to make the layout:

I have a few family birthdays coming up so thought I had better get on and make some cards. I love the Kaisercraft mini Butterflies Stamp so decided to use that to make some pretty, girly cards.

I didn’t want to just add Happy Birthday to each card so instead used Kaisercraft’s Mini Clear stamps. They are perfect for adding something a little bit different to cards – there are over 20 stamps to choose from and some have four sentiments in the pack. I also used the Kaisercraft Journal Background Texture Stamp in the centre of each card.

Butterfly Cards

All the Butterflies were stamped and then cut out, Crystal Lacquered and then layered up and decorated with rhinestones to give a sparkly, dimensional look.

Butterfly Cards closeups

The stitching around the edge of each card is done using the WRMK Sew Easy tool using a different stitch head for each card. To get the stitching fairly straight I ran the tool along the edge of a ruler which seemed to work well.

Here is a list of the products used in this project:

For these cards I used sentiments from two Kaisercraft Mini Clear Stamps sets (although many others are available) :

I just love this photo of Merley on the trampoline…it amazed me how it captured her in mid air with her skirt and hair in full swing. Merley came up with the words “Trampolines make your hair rave” which says it all really.

The big circle is the “Skip to it” die-cut paper (which nicely mirrors the trampoline theme and provides a fabulous frame for the layout) that I stamped with the Bubble Wrap clear stamp to add a little interest to the background. For the word “Bounce” I used a Sizzix alphabet die set, inked the letters with a pink ink pad and finished it in Crystal Lacquer.

Bounce - a Hey Birdie Layout

I finished the layout with a tiny bit of hand stitching (beneath the tree) and by covering the birds, leaves and parts of the tree with Crystal Lacquer to add some shine.

My daughter Merley collects and loves anything to do with fairies hence the fairy themed Advent Calendar I made previously. Soon after I made that I also decided to make her an album to capture some of her favourite fairy ornaments and some lovely little fairy poems.

I loved making this album – it is decorated with one of my favourite Kaisercraft collections – Airy Fairy. The layered butterflies and fairies were cut out from the Sparkle paper so you will need at least three sheets of this paper, but I think they add that extra dimension to the album. I used one of each of the other three Airy Fairy papers.

An Airy Fairy Castle Album

The Lilac Ink Pad was used to ink around the edges of the MDF album. The castle door was drawn with a black drawing pen onto a spare piece of matching card and mounted behind the doorway.

The fun and girly Hey Birdie Collection from Kaisercraft fitted perfectly with this picture of my daughter on her birthday so I got out my scissors and foam tape and created a layout to remind me of that special moment.

At the moment this photo was taken my daughters best friends had just showered her in streamers from party poppers and started singing to her making her smile in a beautifully reserved way. It was a special moment that I wanted to capture in a fun layout which somehow reflected her happiness on that sunny Summer day. Kaisercraft’s Hey Birdie Collection matched both the theme and the colour of the photo and gave the layout a bright and happy look.

Precious Moments - a Hey Birdie layout

I used Bazzill Tortilla cardstock (T8-824) as a background, added strips cut from the Hightail paper (P510) as a base for the picture and cut out and layered some of the cute coloured birds on the strip in the lower left corner of the page. Once the photo was stuck down I outlined it (above and on the right) with some of the Hey Birdie Brown Rub-ons (RB859). The trees, flowers and birds on either side of the photo are cut out from the Wing It paper (P508). The words in the bottom right corner and three of the butterflies in the top left corner are from the brown rub-ons while the fourth layered butterfly is cut from the Wing It paper.

The Precious Moments words are a ScrapFX chipboard wordlet (2008272) that I have coloured using a Kaisercraft Brown Ink Pad (IP708) and decorated with another cut out and layered flower from the Wing It paper.

Precious Moments - details

I’ve embellished the layout with Kaisercraft Hot Pink Pearls (SB787) on the flowers and the round tree and Crystal Lacquer on many of the layered birds, flowers and trees. I’ve finished the layout by sewing around the edge with matching pink thread and adding a single button detail to the bottom right corner.

I think the layout perfectly captures this particular precious moment – a fun and very sweet moment in time on a lovely Summer afternoon.

I’ve seen a couple of examples of the Kaisercraft Advent Calendar finished in a non-Christmas design. So, with a daughter who loves to collect anything to do with fairies, I decided to use the Advent Calendar to make a fairy themed trinket box with a difference especially for her.

An Airy Fairy themed Calendar

I painted all the MDF parts in Blossom Kaisercolour Acrylic paint before sticking them together with wood glue.  I then gave the whole thing another two coats of paint to cover up any errant glue. I’ve used a single sheet of the Sparkle paper (P364) from the Airy Fairy collection layered over a piece of Wisteria coloured Bazzill cardstock in the centre of the calendar. I’ve then layered the largest three fairies to give a 3D effect and applied loads of rhinestones and a coat of Crystal Lacquer for some sparkle.

An Airy Fairy Calendar

The drawers on the Kaisercraft Advent Calendar are made of chipboard (that is, extra thick cardboard). I used double sided tape to hold them together after folding them into shape. I could then simply remove the backing from the tape, rub a glue stick over any exposed bits of the chipboard and then stick the paper on the outside of the individual drawers. Each of the drawers is covered in strips of the Sparkle, Fantasy and Whimsey papers from the Airy Fairy collection and I’ve finished them with a few rhinestones and Airy Fairy Brads. I’ve also drawn on some “stitching” on the front of each of the drawers for extra effect.

My daughter uses the drawers to store her jewellery and “lucky stones” – it’s the perfect trinket box for her pink and lilac bedroom.
