Card tutorial using Happy Snaps collection

Hello my Dear readers!

Today I’ve got for you a Card tutorial using the fantastic Happy Snaps collection!

I really enjoyed making it, and I must say, I totally love this collection!!!

Let’s start:

Here is a list of what you will need:

1. Bend your cardstock and cut the extra card off until you reach a size of approximately 5.5 inch x 8 inch.

DSC_1087

2. Now using my 6.5 inch paper pad I’m going to choose some papers to go on the front and inside of my card.

DSC_1088

3. Cut off the excess of the paper you just glued on.

DSC_1089

I used a nice colourful paper to go outside.

DSC_1090

and nice and clean paper to go inside just in case I want to write something inside.

4. Using the masking yellow tape I’m going to hide the white gaps in the middle of my card on both sides.

5. Now I mix yellow paint with white gesso – I’m going to add some onto the front of my card.

Adding it to the paper…

Also mixing a tiny bit of black gesso with water and adding few drops to my card…

6. Now comes the fun bit – decorating! Add the circle stickers first on the left hand side, then add the yellow bit onto it. On the right side add the white embellishment, the pink sign saying ‘today’ , the yellow sign saying ‘remember when’ and the flower piece. Then comes the time to add the frame – add some 3D foam pads to it so it’s sticking out a bit.

7. Add 2 pieces of 3D foam onto each of the last embellishments, stick the wording first into the frame and lastly the flower bit.

Here is how my card looks on the end :

DSC_1101Also I have something extra for you, a thank you card with the pictures inside! I’m sure that a lot of you get friends and family coming over right? We take loads of pictures and they often stack up in the camera! So why wouldn’t you create a card with snapshots inside and send them back off with thank you note?

DSC_1091

The card is a size of standard pictures 4×6 inch.

DSC_1092

I have inserted a few photos inside, in the little pocket I made for it 😉

I must say I really enjoyed making both of this cards, even if I think I’m not good at doing them!

Have a good day!

‘Happy Snaps’ in a box

Hello all, it’s Ali here with you to share a mini album in a box 🙂

It is, in effect, a concertina album but I have stuck the front and back pages into the lid and base of a little box.

If I had to only ever use one KC collection for the rest of my scrapping days it would be Happy Snaps!! This delightfully bright, vibrant and fun mix of colours and icons is the perfect set for us scrappers, especially with Summer around the corner!

So, what do you need to get started?

Two strips of 12×4″ paper; or you could use Captured Memories cards and tape them together! I used the gorgeous Shutterbug paper.

MAY TUTORIAL

Score it at 3″,6″ and 9″. Yep you’ve guessed it this album will be a 3″x4″ although you can change the dimensions to suit your taste. Fold it up with a valley fold at the first crease.

MAY TUTORIAL1

Washi tape the two strips together so that the two edges butt up to each other. Wrap the tape right around the front and back to make it secure.

MAY TUTORIAL2

Now to make the box. I cut two pieces of card at 11cm x 13.5cm and scored 15mm in from the edge for the base and 13mm in from the edge for the lid. Cut little triangles at the corners for a neat edge and glue the sides together with a wet glue.

MAY TUTORIAL3

Decorate your box as you wish. I cut the hello mat on my die cutting machine using Hot Shot 12×12 paper and chose three of the die cuts from the fabulous Collectables pack. There are a ton of little beauties within that bag!

Decorate your concertina pages, adding photos and ephemera. Then when you’re happy with how it looks, stick the back of the first page into the lid and the back of the last page into the base.

MAY TUTORIAL6

MAY TUTORIAL9

MAY TUTORIAL5

MAY TUTORIAL4

This would be a delightful gift to celebrate a special day; or the perfect brag book! As you can see Happy Snaps is perfect for all those happy snaps!!

Thank you so much for popping in today,

Project Life spread using ‘Say Cheese’ cards

Good Morning our Dear Readers!

Are you ready for my Project Life spread?

I have saved my week 13 for you, using beatiful ‘Say Cheese’ cards that match the Happy Snaps Collection!

I’m so sorry that you won’t be able to understand what I write in my pages (unless you know Polish) but I guess you can read the story from the photos 🙂

Here is my page 1 – yes, my little monster has given himself a big bruise! I can’t turn my back for 1 second as he goes everywhere! But he is all fine now 😉

DSC_1069

Here is page 2 – our trip down to the seaside, our little monster, and of course us as a family!

DSC_1072

I must say Project Life is sometimes a bit of a pain, but it’s great that pictures don’t get just stuck in the camera. I print them out every week and what a wonderful memory it will be in a future 😉

Have a good day!

Mixing Up the Media

Hi it’s Ali here with you today!

I adore paints, inks and sprays so I decided to get a whole load out onto my desk and have a play! The Happy Snaps collection is full to the brim with colour, fun and vibrancy so that was the direction I took with my layout 🙂

IMG_7654

I started off with Distress Inks; Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers swiping them through a couple of homemade stencils cut on my die cutting machine. Then I flicked and swirled some Dylusions Ink Sprays using the stick attached to the nozzle.

IMG_7660

I scraped some white acrylic paint through a stencil with a credit card. Finally I got out my favourite Kaisercolour paints; Sea Breeze and Hot Pink and smooshed (very technical!!) them onto the page.

IMG_7661

I did a bit of gold embossing using the gorgeous stamps in the Happy Snaps collection as well as some stamping in black ink, along with a few stamps from the Polaroid clear stamp set (one of my faves!)

IMG_7658

I cut a strip of the Picture Perfect 12×12 and a border from the Picture Perfect Gloss Paper. The green holey strip came from the fantastic Slideshow die cut paper. I layered them all up to form the mat for my photos and then chose some die-cuts from the Collectables pack and a sticker or two from the Alpha Sticker Sheet; both are must haves in my opinion.

IMG_7657

I had so much fun getting messy! I hope I have inspired you to have a play 🙂

Thank you for popping in today,

Challenge Inspiration from Sandra

Hey ho everyone!

Today I prepared for you a layout for our current ‘Spring is in the Air’ challenge! I had the wonderful Happy Snaps Collection to work with! I must say it’s fabulous 🙂

I really have enjoyed creating every bit of this layout! I hope you are going to like it as much as I do!

Here is some more closer shots:

The picture was taken during a walk in the first warm days of Spring, around our beautiful sea side in Wales.

DSC_1101

I adore the Happy Snaps stickers sheet, and of course I had to use my Kaisercolour Paints! I can’t live without them  😀

I hope you will join us with your own Springtime layout!

Have a good Day!

Merly Impressions May 2014 Challenge

Hi everybody! It is that time of the month again and we are here to challenge you once more!

Well, the weather is improving and we are all, no doubt, thinking of long evenings, warm days and holidays. With this in mind we are challenging you to create a scrapbook layout on the theme of :

Spring is in the Air

Your layout should include elements that show what Spring is all about – newborn lambs, newly opened flowers, trees coming into leaf, etc. The photos can be taken anywhere – for example, in a garden, in a park or by the sea – as long as they are linked with the theme of Springtime

The final date for entries is the 2nd of June 2014.

One of our design team has created a layout to provide a little inspiration:

It’s Ali here with you today to share my inspiration for this month’s challenge; Spring 🙂 I know that Spring is well and truly here when our magnolia tree is in full bloom. They are a short lived pleasure and within days we have brown petals all over the lawn but it is a small price to pay! it also makes the most beautiful backdrop for photos of my daughters 🙂

MAY Challenge II

I have been playing with Happy Snaps this month; my absolute all time without a doubt favourite!! So how to make this bright and vivacious collection look a little more pink and pastel? Well, as with all KC collections it’s about looking beyond the obvious; what? I hear you cry! Whilst this collection is super bright it also has a pale pink floral paper  that is reflected within some of the other patterned papers.

Click Click - Happy Snaps Collection Click Click

So I started with this gorgeous paper as my inspiration and carried on from there!

Merly MAY 5

The heart was punched from one of the pink flowers on the paper. The ‘love this’ circle was punched from the Snap Shot paper and the heart stamp is from the Polaroid clear stamp set. I also added a smidge of delicious KC lace…I love it! I used a selection of white and pale pink embossing powders and the gorgeous Lattice background stamp – I thought it looked like a bit like blossom.

Merly MAY

More little icons cut from the papers, some vellum die cuts and little pink pearls.

MAY Challenge Title

I cut the title on my die cutting machine and brushed the embossed glossy paper from the 6.5″x6.5″ pad with white paint to tone the colour down as well as highlighting the pattern on the paper 🙂

What does Spring mean to you? We would love to see your layout in the gallery…why not give it a go? The winner of our challenge wins £25 to spend in the luscious Merly shop!!

Thanks for popping in today,

Ali x

Please add your creation to the gallery below before the challenge closes at 1:00pm on 2rd June 2014. We will then choose our favourite layout to win a fantastic prize – a £25.00 voucher to spend on anything you want from the Merly Impressions online store. Wow!

We do hope that you have fun with our challenge and that we bring some inspiration your way. Every month I love to look through all your gorgeous entries but please make sure you follow the challenge rules as we are sad to have on occasion to remove some entries as they didn’t follow those rules. You can find a full list of the Challenge rules on the Monthly Challenge page but we would like to politely remind readers that:
