The die cut element with this collection is a lovely Holly Wreath which I used as a base for this layout. I began with Decoration using the hessian effect side and raised the die cut on mounting foam. My photo is 4″ square, backed with Forest Kaisercard to create a small border, placed into the centre at a “jaunty” angle.
There are lots of lovely elements in The Collectables so I picked lots of foliage, decorative elements and round messages, inked some of the edges with Black Soot Distress ink, and set about added them to the wreath creating lots of dimension and interest with mounting foam.
I began with some Cookie Kaisercard and inked around the edges with Black Soot Distress ink. I then took Pinecones and cut the strip from the top which is like a news headline, this was inked and put to one side for later. Using the text lines as a guide I cut 2 x 6cm strips. Eggnog, Sugar Plum and Season were trimmed the same. The lengths have been cut as 29.5, 25.5, 21.5, 17.5 & 13.5 to give the gradient. They were then stuck down left to right. My photo’s are 6x8cm and placed 3.5cm from the bottom of each strip.
At the bottom of each strip I added a sentiment from either the Sticker Sheet or the Collectables, plus a couple above too. Mounting foam adds the dimension. The strip I retained at the beginning from Pinecones was added the to top of the page.
A banner from The Collectables was placed top left with some ribbon hanging underneath. To these I attached more stickers from the Sticker Sheet which were mounted onto some punched mirri card circles like baubles. A tiny bow added at the top of each too.
Pop back soon for another fabulous project by the Design Team.
By the side of the photo is a decorative square cut from the Warm wishes paper, and on this my photo was dated using Black Dymo Alpha Stickers. As usual a lovely scattering of Pearls in Green. I love the way all the greens, reds and gold of the papers and collectables, add a beautiful Christmas compliment to the photo of my daughter on Christmas Day.
Three strips of Season 3″ were cut following the woodgrain pattern, 1 at 11 1/2″ and 2 at 9 1/2″ into which I cut a tail. These were place vertically onto the base evenly with the outside edges 1″ from the side.
A strip from Mistletoe was cut approximately 2 1/2 ” deep using the crossword squares as a guide and ensuring the word “love” was included. I trimmed around this with a craft knife to allow it to sit over my photograph and place onto the base 4″ from the top. Next a strip 2″ wide of Eggnog was placed underneath. My main photograph is 5 1/4″ x 4″ and is matted onto Forest Kaisercard. I placed this to the left hand side allowing enough boxes for me to write “Jumpers”. I also cut enough boxes for “Silly” and added this above. It’s very versatile as you can create any text you like.
I cut two other photographs to 1 3/4″ square, stuck them onto the some tags from the Tag Pack and placed these to the right along with another tag to which I added some Natural Lace and a hessian heart from The Collectibles.
On the sticker sheet in this collection is a fabulous spray of Poinsettias which I placed under the photos which I layered with lots of blooms and leaves from Poinsettia paper and some mounting foam – ideal for cutting to size.
A couple of foliage stickers from the sheet were also added and Gold Stickles to the flower centres. A cut-off strip was added to the top right raised with mounting foam too plus some Red Pearls on the corner of the photograph to finish.
Pop back later in the week for some more fabulous designs from the team.
I then spread using a palette knife, Texture Paste through the Christmas Quarters stencil, I spread a thickish amount and left it to air dry. The effect from using the sprays first is that you can see it through the Texture Paste, so it doesn’t just look flat and white.
Stars were inked from the Sticker sheet and added to the Christmas trees. The garland was also from the sticker sheet. The strip at the top of the layout is cut from the papers and the quote is also a strip cut down. As usual a lovely sprinkle of Pearls in Green and Red were added to finish the layout.
