I love this photo of me when I was a little girl since it brings back many childhood memories. It especially reminds me of the clothes my Mum used to make for my sisters and I.

In the photo I’m wearing a dress made from lots of off-cuts of material bought by my Mum. My two sisters had similar dresses made from the same material but Mum would change the look of each dress by using different colours in various places. So one sister had lighter coloured sleeves and another sister had a different colour collar.

Me and my dress - a Timeless Layout

The Dress Form paper from the Timeless collection was just perfect for this layout as I wanted the focus to be on the dress making rather than me as a little girl.

I’ve added some Kindyglitz Glitter glue to the layout and to the Wood Flourish Butterfly to give some sparkle. I also added a simple button and thread detail and used the Lovely Lace stitched paper from the Homemade collection to highlight the sewing and dressmaking theme.

Other products include a button, brown thread, Alpha Stickers (for the ‘ME’) and a few odd chocolate pearls.

The Homemade collection is perfect for homely pictures. And what could be more homely than relaxing on the couch on a peaceful Sunday afternoon (unless, of course, someone decides to get the camera out and start taking pictures)…

For this layout I used the fabulous Homemade paper collection to reflect the cosy, warm subject of the photo. I added buttons, stitching and lace as well as cutting out images of scrabble tiles, cross-stitch and a cuckoo clock from the papers.

Cuddle on the Couch - a Homemade layout

To give the photo a more homely feel I used Picasa’s “warmify” option when printing out the photo – I think it works really well. Wamify is just one of many great effects available in Picasa and similar image manipulation software – sepia, saturation, glow and soft focus can all be used to add a twist to your photos and make them really stand out on your layout.

I was over the moon when I first saw the lovely Homemade papers and embellishments since I have loads of photo’s that fit with the colour and theme of this collection. Here is a layout using Homemade and some other Kaisercraft products.

As well as the Homemade papers I have also used a paper and the stamp set from the gorgeous Secret Bird Society collection. The photo’s were taken on a family holiday to the Lake district where we had a lovely little cabin by the waters edge – the colour of the water and of the distant hills perfectly matched the blues in the Homemade papers.

The “Treasure these Memories” words are stamped using one of Kaisercrafts new mini stamps (stamped onto acetate and layered over paper for extra effect). The background paper is one of the fabulous stitched papers from the Homemade collection.
