Merly July 2017 Retreat info & sneak peeks

Hi Everyone,

Not long to go now until the 2017 Merly Retreat. I hope you all have seen the extra sneak peeks over on the Merly Crop/Retreat facebook page. This post will give you detail of each project that is included in the retreat and a list of anything else you may want to bring to the retreat to finish them. Each project will include a photo and detailed instructions for you to follow.

Here is the first layout project which I have called – Selfie.

File 29-06-2017, 14 52 03For this layout I have used the gorgeous “Keepsake” Kaisercraft collection. The layout features layers of film strips, tickets, vintage cameras and photography words & sayings. The cute kraft envelope holds a stash of hidden photos measuring 7 cm wide x 4.5 cm high. I have actually cut the envelope down so you could have taller photo’s in there if you keep to the envelope size of 10 cm high. The teeny tiny photo to the right of the layout in the film strip measures 3 cm wide by 2 cm high. This layout is all about capturing some fun moments. The larger photo measures 8.5 cm wide x 9 cm high, I have also used a vintage tone on my photos so they coordinate with the collection, but a coloured or sepia photo would also work and you could use a slightly larger photo if you wish.

Other items used on the layout are the EK Success Edger Punch – Round Binding Edge, Kaisercraft Autumn Leaves Decorative Die, (released July) the Sew Easy Straight Head Tool, Antique Gold Kaisermist,  these items & tools will all be available to use at the retreat.

Other items used that you will need to bring are  Crystal Lacquer, Or a similar product like Glossy Accents would also work.

Here is the second layout project which I have called: Life is measured by moments.

File 29-06-2017, 14 53 16For this layout I have used the beautiful “Golden Grove” Kaisercraft collection. My layout features beautiful fussy cut flowers, tiny buttercups and butterflies, splashes of Kaisermist, stitching, punching and diecut flourishes. I have used one colour coordinating photo measuring 8cm wide x 12.5cm high. A sepia or black & white photo would also work well.

Other items used on the layout are the Kaisercraft Swirl Flourish Decorative Die, MS PATP set Vintage Doily, Sew Easy Straight Head Tool, white, yellow & Apple Kaisermists. These items & tools will all be available to use at the retreat.

Other items used that you will need to bring are Crystal Lacquer, yellow ink pad, I have used the Kaisercraft Saffron mini ink pad.

Here is the third layout project which I have called: The creation of beauty is art.

File 29-06-2017, 14 54 04For this layout I have used the beautiful “Lilac Whisper” Kaisercraft collection. My layout features beautiful fussy cut flowers, tiny florals, a splash of  Kaisermist, diecut interlocking circles, stitching and one of the main features – the stamping around the edge. For this I have used the fabulous “Daydreamer” word stamp and created a message around the layout edge. I have used a colour coordinating photo measuring 9.5cm wide x 12cm high. A black & white photo would also work.

Other items used on the layout are the Sew Easy Straight Head Tool, Kaisercraft Daydreamer stamp set, black ink pad for stamping & stamp block, Kaisercraft Interlocking Circles Decorative Die, Denim Kaisermist. These items & tools will be available to use at the retreat. We do have the Daydreamer stamp on the website for anyone who would rather purchase their own.

Other items used that you will need to bring are Crystal Lacquer, or similar.

Here is the beyond-the-page 3 Panel Frame project.

19030381_10212297066529261_1268421374879663440_nFor this project I have used the lovely Kaisercraft “3 Piece (MDF) Panel frame” and to decorate it, I have used the gorgeous “Indigo Skies” Kaisercraft collection. Beautiful fussy cut flowers & butterflies adorn the frame and for extra detail I have used Kaisermist, cheese cloth & rhinestones, the three panels are then tied together using some beautiful blue organza ribbon. I have used three coordinating photo’s which measure 8.7cm wide x 12.5cm high. Black & white photos would also work.

Other items used on the project are Denim Kaisermist, Wood Glue, to glue the project together, these items will be available to use at the retreat.

Other items used that you will need to bring are paint brushes as there is a little bit of painting and (optional) a file/light sand paper if you want your MDF edges smooth. The white paint is included in the kit.

The Bonus project – Art plaque

File 29-06-2017, 15 01 40For this project I have used a BTP plaque and to decorate it, I have used the gorgeous Sage & Grace Kaisercraft collection. Beautiful fussy cut flowers from the blush paper and the gorgeous Rose Bouquet Foil paper, frames, Kaisermist and Chipboard letters create the words with a layer of Crackle Accents. This project could also be a room plaque, you could put a name on it, add a photo, mine started out as “Chrissy’s Craft Room” but I then decided to just add crafty words.

Other items used on the project are Candy & Charcoal Kaisermists, these will be available to use at the retreat.

Other items used that you will need to bring are paint brushes, as there is a little painting of the edges of the BTP, Crackle Accents or Crystal Lacquer & a pencil.

There will also be an extra layout project to purchase at the retreat for this project I have used the gorgeous bright and funky Bombay Sunset Kaisercraft collection. Here is a little sneak peek of the papers I have used. So bring extra photos that will coordinate.

Feel free to also bring your own extra projects to do. We all craft differently, so at the very relaxed Merly retreat you can all craft at your own pace, I personally wouldn’t finish any of the projects, I am a very slow crafter, I like to take my time, a layout from me can take up to a few weeks to finish, I enjoy putting the layout or project together, I like to move things around see how they look, take my time, for me it is not about finishing the layout or project it is about creating it.

Starting time of the retreat: The retreat will start at midday Friday (not before) please make your way to the Oakley Suite from midday on wards. Anyone arriving early, please feel free to have a tea or coffee at the training Centre, there are plenty of areas to relax and have a drink, please do not come over to the Oakley Suite before the time stated!! We have a lot to set up and want it to be perfect for you. The first hour will be about settling in, then lunch will start at 1pm-ish. I will give you more info on that when you arrive.

I think that is it for now, I am really looking forward to seeing you all.

Hugs,

Chrissy xXx xXx

Happy Memories with Indigo Skies

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here with my last post for May. As you may know this month I had the pleasure of working with one of Kaisercraft’s most beautiful collections “Indigo Skies” (available at Merly Impressions’ online store) and today I’ve prepared a layout  featuring Clear Texture & Background Stamps and pattern paper from “Indigo Skies”

MI-Happy-memories-web-530To create my background I ruffled the edges of the Misty pattern paper and layered it on top of the Midnight pattern paper. After adhering the layers with Kaisercraft 12mm Double-sided Tape, I stamped the brick pattern using Clear Texture Stamp – Brick Wall with Ink Pad – Black. Once the ink has dried I sprinkled  KaiserMist Spray Ink – Aqua and KaiserMist Spray Ink – Charcoal, and liquid silver ink on top.
MI-Happy-memories-det-a (1)I matted my picture on a slightly larger piece of Kaisercard Navy Weave Cardstock and adhered it in the middle of the background paper using Mounting Foam Tape.

To decorate my page I stamped the brick pattern on pattern paper from the Paper Pad using embossing ink and then I heat embossed the image with silver embossing powder. MI-Happy-memories-det-a (3)Then I used the Decorative Die – Texture Woven with Kaisercard Navy Weave Cardstock to create another layer of embellishments. For the flower cluster I used Paper Blooms – Iceberg, Mini Paper Blooms – Coconut, blue hemp (Mixed Hemp Cord – Ocean) and die cut foliage (Decorative Die – Mini Foliage), as well as pre-cut embellishments from the Collectables pack and the Sticker Sheet.MI-Happy-memories-det-b (2) MI-Happy-memories-det-c (2) MI-Happy-memories-det-a (4)For my title I used a die cut word form the Collectables pack and a sticker from the Sticker Sheet.MI-Happy-memories-det-b (4)Then I fussy cut the butterflies from the Chambray pattern paper and the foil paper from the Paper Pad, embellished them with Rhinestones – Silver and adhered them to my background paper using Mounting Foam TapeMI-Happy-memories-det-b (3)As a final touch I sprinkled KaiserMist Spray Ink – White in top of all layers, while covering my picture with a piece of paper.MI-Happy-memories-det-c (1) MI-Happy-memories-det-b (1)I hope I managed to inspire you today!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Birthday Butterfly card with Indigo Skies

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here today with a brand new project featuring the lovely Kaisercraft collection “Indigo Skies” (available at Merly Impressions’ online store). For today’s post I decided to create an “exploding box” card filled with butterflies and birthday wishes.MI-Birthday-card - Copy MI-Birthday-card-a - Copy MI-Birthday-card-c - CopyAnd here is a short step-by-step on how I did it.

Step 1: Using Kaisercard Navy Weave Cardstock create the base for the card-box. Draw nine squares, 10 cm each and cut out the corner ones. Score the middle square on each side. MI-Birdthay-card-det-aStep 2: Cut nine white squares (9,5 cm each) from Kaisercard Coconut Weave Cardstock and nine 9 cm squares from pattern paper. Ink their edges with Black ink pad before adhering them together. MI-birthday-card-det-bStep 3: Using a nesting die cut different sized layers from cardstock and pattern paper.MI-birthday-card-det-cStep 4: Assemble the side panels by adhering the layers using Mounting Foam Tape. Add a sentiment from the Paper Pad and the Sticker Sheet as a final layer. Sprinkle KaiserMist Spray Ink – White and KaiserMist Spray Ink – Antique Gold on top of all the layers. MI-birthday-card-det-dStep 4: To create the lid, cut a 16×16 cm square from Kaisercard Navy Weave Cardstock. Score at 1,3 cm from each side and again at 2,5 cm. Make a cut only on 2 of the sides and glue the corners in place. Fold and glue the second layer to secure the lid. MI-birthday-card-det-eStep 6: Decorate the lid as shown on the image below using die cuts from the Paper Pad and Collectables pack. For the flower cluster use Paper Blooms – Iceberg, blue hemp (Mixed Hemp Cord – Ocean) and die cut foliage (Decorative Die – Mini Foliage).MI-Birthday-card-lidAnd here are some more close ups of my project: MI-Birthday-card-det-e (1) MI-Birthday-card-det-e (2) MI-Birthday-card-det-e (3)Add Glitter glue to enhance words on the sentiments.

Choose happiness

Hi,
It’s Margot here today hosting the blog and I’ve created a beautiful layout using Indigo Skies Kaisecraft collection.
DSC_0782I decided to use  Choose Happiness paper as a background and then I stamped using the lovely Paint Strokes texture background stamp,  using ink pads in 3 different colors as shown. I also colored flowery pattern.
DSC_0783 DSC_0785I added some cheesecloth and twine . I cut out stripes from Breeze paper and adhered them onto the base and then cut a piece of Navy Weave 12×12 cardstock and secured it with photo and lots of collectables on the top. I added some Dark Blue rhinestones to finish.
Hope you like my post,
Margot xx

Forever in my Heart with Indigo Skies

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Can you believe that it is May already? Where did the time go? This month I’ve got the pleasure to work with the absolutely amazing Kaisercraft collection “Indigo Skies” (available at Merly Impressions’ online store), which is perfect for the lovely spring weather of May.

Today, I’ve prepared a brand new layout to share with you with a short tutorial on how to alter your background paper using Clear Texture & Background Stamps.

MI-Forever-in-my-heart-web-530Here is a short tutorial on how to alter your background:

Step 1: Punch one of the edges of the Choose Happiness die-cut foil patter paper and layer it on top of Kaisercard Navy Weave Cardstock. Adhere both layers with Kaisercraft 12mm Double-sided Tape.MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-a (1)Step 2: Mark the position of your pictures with a pencil.

MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-a (2)Step 3: Stamp the brick pattern using Clear Texture Stamp – Brick Wall and Black ink pad. For the doily use Clear Stamps – Chase Rainbows collection and blue ink.  MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-a (3)Step 4: Once the ink is dry – sprinkle KaiserMist Spray Ink – Aqua on top. TIP! Use the covered areas of your pattern paper to try your ink pads – which colour would match your colour palette best.

MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-bTo decorate your page fussy cut butterflies from Chambray pattern paper and from the Paper Pad. Adhere them around your pictures using Mounting Foam Dots.

MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-c (7) MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-c (6)Using Decorative Die – Foliage die cut swirls from pattern paper to arrange the butterflies.

MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-c (5) MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-c (4)Use die cut sayings from Collectables pack and from the Paper Pad to embellish your pictures.

MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-c (3) MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-c (2) MI-forever-in-my-heart-det-c (1)To finish off your design sprinkle KaiserMist Spray Ink – White on top of all the different layers and add Rhinestones – Black.
