May 2018 Merly Crop Kit

Hi Everyone,
What a right royal crop we had, thank you so much to everyone who attended and made the day so special. What a fun day we had of crafting, chatting and eating fabulous cakes and a most enjoyable afternoon cream tea. We hope everyone who attended the crop also enjoyed the day and enjoyed making their layouts from May Kit.

For the kit I used the beautiful “Miss Betty” Kaisercraft collection. Included in the Crop Kit, were detailed instructions and stash to make two layouts and a third bonus layout that you can complete if you like. Below are photos of all three layouts and some instructions to complete the third layout.

Here is the first layout which I called: Forever Friends.

………and the second layout which I called: We Remember Moments.

Here is the third layout and some brief instructions.

Cut the green Kaisercard down to 12 x 12 to form your base, then gut the centre leaving about a 4cm edge all around. Cut the PP2479 Thread paper down to 28cm wide, then mat this onto your green base edge. Cut the blue/green coloured rulers from P2480 Patterns paper, add these to the left hand side of your layout, in all different lengths. Mat your photo onto some of the gutted green Kaisercard, mat this onto your layout. I have also cut out the green section from P2484 Handcerchief paper, cut in half and mat top and bottom of your photo, also add a blue coloured ruler. for the title I have used wording from one of the info strips. I have stamped flowers on the rest of the green card, fussy cut them and added them to the layout with some die cut flourishes.

The kit is now available to purchase in the Merly Impressions on-line shop – it can be found in the Layout Kits section of the website.

I just want to say a massive thank you!!!! to everyone that attended our May crop which made it such a very special day. We look forward to seeing your finished layouts using my kit over on the Merly Crop Facebook page.

Below are a few photo’s of the day.

May 19th 2018 – Merly Crop & Layout kit preview

Hi Everyone,

The May 2018 Merly Crop will soon be upon us so here are the details of the crop and sneak peeks of the layouts that you will be able to create using the kit. For this crop as it is on the day of the Royal Wedding and we are going to have a little afternoon Cream Tea!! Detail of this is below. xXx

For the kit I have used papers from the beautiful “Miss Betty” Kaisercraft collection.

Also supplied in the kit are DMC cotton, white Kaisercard and detailed instructions with coloured photo’s for you to follow, so you can then create the two layouts that I have designed at your own pace.

Below are some sneak peeks of the first layout which I’ve called “Forever Friends” I have used one coloured photo which measures 11cm wide x 8cm high. The layout features lots of layers, beautiful fussy cut flowers & hexagons some stitching and punching. I have also used some colour coordinating Kaisermists from my own stash.

……….and below are some sneak peeks of the second layout, which I’ve called “We Remember Moments ” I have used one coloured photo measuring 9.5cm wide x 11.5cm high. The layout features more beautiful fussy cut flowers & hexagons, there is also a little stitching and I have used colour coordinating mists from my own stash.

Other items used on the layouts which you may want to bring are a colour coordinating ink pad, I have used the “Berry ” Kaisercraft mini ink pad for inking around the edges, a needle for sewing (if you want to do it) foam pads and a small pair of scissors as there is a lot of fussy cutting on both layouts. We will however have a selection of ink pads & Foam dots/roll, available to purchase in the on site Merly shop.

I have also used the WRMK Sew Easy Tool – and a Martha Stewart PATP set.

These will be available to use at the crop along with our usual supply of tools including the Big Shot machine & a small selection of other punches.

There is also an optional third layout with the left over paper and card, a photo will be supplied of this.

The location of the crop, together with other details and future dates can be found on our Crop Dates page. We also have a crop/retreat facebook page, where you can see more sneak peeks and details of up and coming events and where you can also post your finished layouts.

Extra Special Treat  As it is the day of the Royal Wedding we thought we would have a small afternoon Cream Tea around 3.30-ish, we will supply the scones, cream & jam & an extra cake or two. Please bring along a nice tea cup & saucer & side plate and optional tiara/head wear.

At the crop we will also have our usual FABULOUS Merly Impressions Shop where you can purchase all the latest Kaisercraft goodies, including the new April & May releases and all our other Kaisercraft, Tim Holtz, ScrapFX,  G45 & Little Birdie goodies. Extra kits will also be available to purchase at the crop. Just ask Paul for them.

The usual tea, coffee and a selection of biscuits, chocolates & snacks will be available throughout the day. You will need to bring your own lunch and your usual supply of crafting tools. We will not be bringing the box of mugs any more to save space in our cars, so please bring a cup/mug for your drinks. There are tiny cups available to use at the hall if you don’t want to bring one, you will need to wash, dry & put away what you use.

See you all on Saturday 19th May 2018 at 10am (not before 9.55 unless you have been asked to help, as we will be very busy getting ready, please wait outside if you do turn up really early) – until 6pm, two extra hours.  The cost for the day & kit is £30.00, payable on the day, we take cash and/or cards.

For anyone who can not attend the crop, the kit will be available to purchase the day after the crop over on the website.

See you all on Saturday 10am.

Mr Snoozems with Miss Betty

Hi everyone,

Denise here with my final layout using the Miss Betty Kaisercraft collection.

File 19-03-2018, 18 49 15-Banner resizedI have used lots of Collectables on this layout together with stickers from the Sticker Sheet.

Firstly I started off with a sheet of Flamingo Kaisercard, then cut a strip of the pink woodgrain side of the Quilted paper then placed it on the left side of the layout. Next I took a larger rectangle of the gorgeous Needlework paper and placed this to the right of the woodgrain strip.

Next I sewed along the long edges top and bottom . I used a long sticker from the Sticker Sheet to hide the join of the two papers.

I then took the two pink flower clusters, inked around them with Petal Pink Ink , mounted them on to card then foam pads and added them to the side of the layout on the woodgrain paper.

File 19-03-2018, 20 06 32My photos were added at an angle with some of the woodgrain paper as a mount.

Now it was time to add lots of clusters of flowers and cards from the Collectables pack.

Thank you for popping by and the team will be back soon with some more inspiration .

Pretty in pink with Miss Betty

Hello everyone,

Denise here with my second layout using the very lovely Miss Betty Collection.

File 14-03-2018, 17 44 59-Resized banner

On this layout I used a lot of items from the Sticker Sheet which as always is packed full of many lovely designs to use, be they long borders to cut up, word titles or pretty butterflies.

Sticker Sheet - Miss Betty Collection

I started by using a sheet of the pink dotty side of Stitched paper.

Next I used a sheet of Coconut Weave Kaisercard which I cut down by 1/4 of an inch on two adjacent sides.

I decided to do some stitching along the edges as the collection is quite sewing themed.

I took some of the long stickers, cut them down then stuck them on to card to make them easier to mount, then placed them down the left hand side of the layout.

File 14-03-2018, 17 49 38

I used most of the butterflies and moths, some of the long stickers and also the round words whilst also cutting some strips from some of the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and some of the die cuts from the Collectables which were all mounted on to foam tape for dimension.

File 14-03-2018, 17 50 43

I mounted my photo on to three layers of papers from the 6.5 x 6.5  pad and distressed the edges of the papers with a paper distresser.

For finishing touches I used some little Candy Epoxy Stickers and flicked some Peach Kaisermist over the background.

I’m really loving this collection and will be back soon with another layout.

Reasons To Be Happy with Miss Betty

Hi everyone,

Denise here with my first layout using the lovely  Miss Betty Kaisercraft collection.

Photo 02-03-2018, 16 03 49-resized banner

This layout is featuring the Embroidered Doily die cut paper.

Embroided Doily die-cut paper - Miss Betty Collection

I used the lovely dark woodgrain paper Tapestry as the base as I thought it showed the doily die cut paper off well. I gutted it underneath the doily paper and matted my photo on it.

I used a doily form my stash underneath the matted photo then mounted it on foam tape to the right hand side of the doily in the middle.

Next I inked all around the doily with some Evergreen Bough Distress ink  very gently.

I used lots of die cuts from the Collectables Pack all around the page all raised on foam tape for dimension.

There are so many great die cuts in the collectables pack to use I was spoilt for choice.

Next I used one of the sayings from the Sticker Sheet as my title, I mounted it on some card then on foam tape.

Finally as a finishing touch I flicked some Aqua Kaisermist on the doily  and drew some faux stitching on the woodgrain paper with a white pen.

Happy crafting everyone and I hope you’ve enjoyed todays page.
