Puppy Love with Flowers Story

Hello, Karen here with my first post for February and this month I have been given Flowers Story, to work with.  This is from a company called ScrapBoys and if you like Graphic 45 you will certainly love the products from this range.

Puppy Love

This Layout was inspired by a photo that popped up on my Facebook feed of me with my dog Kiera, who is sadly no longer with us, at Marks hall.  Coincidentally, I had had one taken at the same place, with the same coat and hat on, holding my new puppy Darcey and thought it would be lovely to document the two photos.

I started by fussy cutting flowers and butterflies from the Paper07 in preparation for adding to my page.  The ScrapBoys ranges have a paper in each collection which seems to be deigned for fussy cutting.  If you buy the paper pack – a very reasonable £9.95 for 12 papers , the back of the cover sheet has the elements for fussy cutting printed on it.

Next I trimmed .5 in from the top and one side of Paper01 and stuck this to the middle of a piece of Coal Weave Kaisercard.

From the Paper06 I cut four of the larger frames, gutted the centres but kept the gutted pieces to use at a later date.

I added these to my page with the first one portrait orientation, the one next to it landscape orientation (with the bottoms aligned) and the second row the first one was landscape orientation and the last one portrait orientation (with the tops aligned).  To the two portrait ones I added my photos (although you can’t really see Darcey in the bottom photo as she is black against my dark coat).

IMG_2340

I then cut six cogs from Coal Weave Kaisercard using a cog die. Although the die I used is no longer in the Merly shop this one would work just as well.  I tucked my cogs under the top left and bottom right photo frames.

IMG_2339

The two landscape frames were filled with my fussy cut shapes.  To the left of my top photograph and the right of my bottom one I added two sage mini blooms, one black mini bloom, one coconut paper bloom and two leaves.   I also added two wooden sprays from the Blooming flourish pack and a fussy cut butterfly.

IMG_2340

To finish my page I added a title using white stickers from this Alpha Sticker Sheet and dotted some Latte pearls about the page.

I hope you have been inspired to create something with the Flowers Story range and if you do please show us on the Merly Impression Crop Facebook page.

My Heart is Full with Grand Bazaar

Hi fellow crafters,

I was very excited to receive the GRAND BAZAAR collection to work on for this month. As soon as I saw it, I just knew I had the perfect photos to scrap using it! I think this collection is good for many different types of projects, from love photos, to adventures and childhood memories. It also very suitable for Male layouts and all sorts of greetings cards. This collection has many colours which can be used all together in a project, or separated to focus on just 2 or 3 colours. I found that my photos suited the more selective type of colours. For example, I have focused on the blue, red and white for this layout, as it matches the clothing I am wearing in the photo. The pattern of this collection also matches the skirt and the touches of yellow and brown compliment the trees and grass in the background of the photo. I also really like how the large “love” word sticker suits the spots on the Dalmatian puppies that I am expressing loving.

My Heart is Full Photo 1

To create this layout I have followed the steps below:

  1. Take CAREFREE and cut to seperate the 4 different strips. Trim the red and blue strips to 28.5 cm in length. Remove the two similar pages from PAPER PAD – GRAND BAZAAR COLLECTION and also cut into to separate strips. This time trim the of of each of the red and blue strips to 14 cm. Ink the edges of each strip in either DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY or KAISERINK PAD – DENIM.
  2. Select the larger patterned strip with the the more reddish tones. Using a CRAFT KNIFE, cut along the yellow lines of the “four petal flower” shape, from the left side. Curl the “petals” up. To create a 3d flower, use the knife again on the same pattern on the right. However, this time only cut the tips of the “petals” and curl them up. FOAM TAPE the pre-cut “flower” at a 45 degree angle, in the middle of the one of the right hand side of the strip. My Heart is Full Photo 3
  3. Take the two smaller patterned strips with a blueish tone and use the craft knife to cut the tips of all three “flowers” in both strips. Take the other strips and cut out 6 “flowers” in total and foam tape in the middle of the other ones.
My Heart is Full Photo 2
  4. Trim KAISERCARD SNOW WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 12 x 12 inches and ink the edges using an ink blending tool and DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY. Use CLEAR STAMP – LATTICE to stamp the background in DISTRESS INK PAD – AGED MAHOGANY and KAISERINK PAD – DENIM.
My Heart is Full Photo 4
  5. Take the 6 various sizes strips prepared earlier and adhere to your stamped cardstock as shown below:
My Heart is Full Photo 5
  6. Take one red and one blue sheet from the PAPER PAD – GRAND BAZAAR COLLECTION and trim to 10.1 x 15 cm. Use these to frame a photo with dimensions of 9.5 x 14.5 cm
  7. Add mounted photo to the middle of the layout on left hand side. Foam tape the bottom strips from TEXTILES and PERSIAN RUG to the top and bottom of the largest patterned strip. Embellish with COLLECTABLES – GRAND BAZAAR COLLECTIONSTICKER BOOK – GRAND BAZAAR COLLECTIONCURIOS – GRAND BAZAAR COLLECTIONMINI PAPER BLOOMS – ICEBERG and RHINESTONES – YELLOW.

Life is Beautiful with Grand Bazaar

Hi fellow crafters,

I was very excited to receive the GRAND BAZAAR collection to work on for this month. As soon as I saw it, I just knew I had the perfect photos to scrap using it! I think this collection is good for many different types of projects, from love photos, to adventures and childhood memories. It also very suitable for Male layouts and all sorts of greetings cards. This collection has many colours which can be used all together in a project or separated to focus on just 2 or 3 colours. I found that my photos suited the more selective type of colours. For this layout I have selected the red and black to emphasise passion. It also compliments the colours of photo which are mainly white and black with red highlights.Life is Beautiful with Grand Bazaar 1

To create this layout I have followed the steps below:

  1. Take KAISERCARD RUBY WEAVE CARDSTOCK, trim to 12 inch x 12 inch and distress the edges using a PAPER DISTRESSER.
  2. Cut KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 28 x 28 cm, distress the edges and adhere to the centre of the of the Ruby Cardstock.
  3. Take two pieces of FOLKLORE and trim both to 27 x 27 cm. You will use the red side of one and the black side of the other.
  4. Measure along the top FOLKLORE (red) at 10, 17 and 24 cm and mark with a pencil. Now measure and mark the same distances along the bottom. Draw a faint line connecting the marks vertically.
  5. Along the sides repeat the step above at 15 and 22 cm. Connect the pencil marks vertically.
  6. Erase the lines after the first vertical line (going top to bottom) meets the first horizontal line (from left to right). Using scissors to cut along the lines. You should be left with 1 x rectangle and 2x reverse L shaped pieces. Check the full layout photo to get a better understanding of the shape. Distress the edges of each piece.
  7. Next measure, and mark with a pencil, along the top FOLKLORE (black), 13.5  and 20.5 cm. Now measure and mark the same distances along the bottom. Draw a faint line connecting the marks vertically.
  8. Along the sides repeat the step above at 18.5 and 25.5 cm. Connect the pencil marks faintly.
  9. Repeat Step 6. You should be left with 2 x rectangle (one normal and the other tall and thin) and 1x reverse L shaped pieces. Distress the edges of each piece.
  10. Take the tall thin piece of FOLKLORE (black) and adhere to right side of the Ink cardstock, about 5 mm from its edges. Take the largest FOLKLORE (red) reverse L shaped peace and attach it over the right side of the black piece but also ~5 mm fro the edge of the Ink cardstock. Repeat with each black and red  FOLKLORE piece, alternating, until you fill the middle of the Ink cardstock. Life is Beautiful with Grand Bazaar 2
  11. Take a photo with dimensions of 8.7 x 13.7 cm and mat with two cardstock pieces, one cut from KAISERCARD RUBY WEAVE CARDSTOCK and the other from KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK, with the same dimensions. Attach to the top left hand corner of the layout, ~ 4 cm from the edge of the layout.
  12. Fussy cut the flowers and leaves from BOHO PAISLEY and layer the from the top left to bottom right of the layout.
  13. Embellish with red flowers, flourishes and quotes from the COLLECTABLES – GRAND BAZAAR COLLECTION and STICKER BOOK – GRAND BAZAAR COLLECTION, CURIOS – GRAND BAZAAR COLLECTION, and MINI PAPER BLOOMS – RUBY.

Blessed with Journey

Hi everyone, Denise here with my last layout using the Journey Kaisercraft collection.

IMG_0876-R-B2

I focused on using the paper pad on this layout, I started by using a sheet of Voyager paper, then cut a sheet of Snow Kaisercard down by one cm on two adjacent sides, then adhered it to the base paper.Next I took the Paper Pad and used three different papers to punch lots of flowers out.

I took some of the Wood Flourishes and painted them with some shimmery paint.

Flourish Pack - Journey Collection

I then used the paint to stencil through a Mini Star Stencil all over the White Kaisercard.

Once this was dry, I placed the flowers cascading down from the top to bottom in a diamond shape, and once I was happy with the placement I adhered them.

My 4 x 4 photo was matted on to two different papers from the Paper Pad and raised up using  Foam Tape to add dimension.

IMG_0862

I also used some Collectables to embellish the layout.

IMG_0876

I also used some Mini Paper Blooms and painted them to match.

To finish off, I added some Gold Rhinestones to the centre of the flowers, some of the paper blooms to the centre of some of the flowers and I flicked some Rose Gold Kaisermist all over.

Thanks for popping by and do pop back soon for some more inspiration from the team.

Exploding Box with Rosabella

Hello,
Karen here with my last project using the beautiful Rosabella collection. I have made a hexagonal exploding box and am thrilled with the results.  Be warned this post is very photo heavy.

IMG_5903

For this project I have used Coal cardstock (4 sheets),  6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, Collectables, Clear Stamps, Wooden Flourishes, Decorative Die – Rose and Leaves, Kaiserink Pad – Licorice and paper blooms in Black and Dusty Pink.

I cut my box from Coal cardstock on my Silhouette from a design I had made several years ago but there is a tutorial for making a similar box here.  Once I had made my box I and lid I used papers from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to cover the top of the lid, base of the bottom and the pages.

IMG_5907

I then used some more pages from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to stamp the lace pattern from the Clear Stamps set, using Kaiserink Pad – Licorice , and used these to cover the sides of my lid.IMG_5905

I decorated my pages with tags and sentiments from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and flowers from the Collectables pack.
IMG_5908
IMG_5909 IMG_5910 IMG_5911 IMG_5912 IMG_5913 IMG_5914 IMG_5915 IMG_5916

I used the Clear Stamps and Kaiserink Pad – Licorice  to stamp some butterflies and added them on strips of acetate to the bottom of my box and then decorated with Black and Dusty Pink paper blooms, I used the Decorative Die – Rose and Leaves to cut leaves from 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and tucked these around the flowers .

IMG_5917

Finally, I used more die cut leaves and Black and Dusty Pink paper blooms to decorate the top of the lid adding Wooden Flourishes to finish off.

I loved making this and am going to add photos of my daughter as a Mother’s Day present for my mother-in-law.

See you again next month

Believe In The Magic Of Christmas with Sparkle

Hello,

Karen here with my first post for September and where has this year gone to?  This month I have the first of Kaisercraft’s Christmas collections to work with and it is the totally stunning Sparkle collection which is filled with pinks, black and rose gold foiling.  Every sheet of paper in this collection is either glittered or foiled.

8

If you would like to see some of the collection I have a YouTube video here which shows the beautiful items I had in my Merly Impressions delivery.

I wanted to focus on the use the Sparkle Clear Stamp Set for this page and so stamped the large tree six times, using black ink, onto a page from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad,  I chose the one with gold spots as I thought that would look as though the trees had baubles on. I cut the trees out and as I wanted to make the trees 3d I scored and folded each tree along the centre and then adhered them together – see photo below .

5

I then cut .25in from the top and left of a piece of Radiance paper and added to some Licorice card.

I matted a 5in x 7in photo onto a piece of Glistening and then onto a piece of Auroral (black side). I adhered this to my page with foam dots, ensuring that I left room to tuck elements underneath.  I clustered flowers cut from Glint, Baubles and trees from the Collectables pack, tags and borders from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad around my photo along with the two 3d trees.

I also added a phrase from the Sticker pad and placed a Champagne rhinestone in the centre of each of the snowflakes on the scalloped border.

7

To finish my page I stamped the small trees, from the Sparkle Clear Stamp Set, several times onto the same paper as I had used for the large trees.  Then I snipped off the trunks, turned them upside down and used them as pennants for the bunting at the top of my page.  I finished by adding a Dusty Pink paper bloom between each of the pennants.

I can hardly wait, for later this month, to show you what else I have made with this gorgeous range.

A duo of cards with Keepsake

Hello everyone,

Denise here with some cards for you today using one of the latest Kaisercraft collections, Keepsake.

MERLY DTcollageThe first card was made using some Coffee Bean cardstock cut down to A4 size then down to 28cm wide. Next, lines were scored at 7 cm and 14cm.

I trimmed  a piece off at 15cm to create the band.

289I used  papers from the 6.5 x6.5  paper pad to cover the panels of the card and the band.

To decorate, I used die cut elements from the paper pad together with some die cuts from the Collectables Pack. I used some  gold rhinestones dotted around to embellish as well.

My second card was made using a 5.75 inch square card.

304I cut a strip measuring 5.75 inches by 5.25 from a separate piece of card then scored it across at 1/2 an inch and 2 7/8 of an inch.

283The smaller piece was stuck to the bottom of the card to create a front easel.

Next, I covered the panels of the card with papers from the 6.5×6.5 paper pad.

Photo 27-06-2017, 14 53 51I used some die cut elements from the Collectables Pack to layer and embellish together with some Dusty Pink Paper Blooms and some cheesecloth.

297I used a frame cut  from the 12 x 12 Acetate Photo Frame sheet to lay over my sentiment .

294Lastly I dotted some glitter around to add some bling!

Hope you’ve enjoyed these projects – I certainly had fun making them.

Silly Selfie with Ubud Dreams

Good morning everyone,

Denise here with another project, a layout this time using the amazing Ubud Dreams Kaisercraft Collection.

104I loved some of the the wording die cuts in the Collectables pack this month and have had some silly photos of me for a while, so decided to make a page using one of them. It’s nice to scrapbook personal things once in a while isn’t it?

I started off by using the gorgeously detailed Kemala paper. I cut the middle out so making a frame and backed this with some Coconut Weave Kaisercard. Next I cut down a piece of Seafoam Kaisercard to 10.5 inches and placed it on the layout.

I  took another piece of Coconut Weave Kaisercard, cut it down to 10.25 inches and used a Punch around the Page to go round the outside edges and then stuck it on to the Seafoam card.

102I used some of the white card to mat my photo then placed it onto the layout on the left hand side towards the top and tucked some half doilies at each side. ( Always handy to have some doilies in your stash! )

Next it was time to use lots of Collectables to embellish the layout- some of these were as always with me raised up using foam tape.

097Together with some of the beautiful blooms in Sea Breeze. I also used some Rhinestone Sparklets in the middle of the patterned doilies from the Collectables.103I cut around some of the flowers so I could just tease them round a bit.

098I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project – there will be lots more inspiration from the team very soon!
