Flamingo Fun with Sunkissed by Kaisercraft

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a fun layout that focusses the pink flamingos and pink flowers of the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. The irony of this layout and the photo is that flamingos can’t fly and neither can I, no matter how much we try! I enjoyed adding a couple of mixed media techniques to this layout too. MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 1

To create this layout I have followed the steps below:

  1. Cut DAQUIRI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION down to 24.5 x 24.5 cm (keeping off cuts) and distress edges with a PAPER DISTRESSER. Using a blending tool, ink KAISERINK PAD – FLAMINGO though TINY TRIANGLES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL down the right side of DAQUIRI and a little bit in the top left corner as well.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 2
  2. Colour some TEXTURE PASTE with KAISERCOLOUR PAINT – BLACK 75ML and transfer through the long palm frond in the TROPICAL LEAVES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL onto DAQUIRI.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 3
  3. Trim COCONUT – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to 30.5 x 30.5 cm, KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 26.5 x 26.5 cm and KAISERCARD LIPSTICK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 25.5 x 25.5 cm, keep the off cuts. Distress edges and adhere INK to COCONUT, and LIPSTICK to INK.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 4
  4. Take all the off cuts and select the widest of each paper. Trim to 24.5 cm long. Rip the edges of DAQUIRI. Rip INK and LIPSTICK in half.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 5
  5. Adhere DAQUIRI to LIPSTICK. Layer and adhere the ripped strips on the right side of the layout.
  6. Prepare a photo mat by cutting KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 11.2 x 11.2 cm and the pink striped sheet from PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to 10.5 x 10.5 cm. adhere to each other and to the layout in the top right corner.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 6
  7. Adhere photo with dimensions 9.8 x 9.8 cm to the photo mat. Fussy cut the distinct pink flowers from the PAPER PAD, TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION, and take them from the COLLECTABLES – SUNKISSED COLLECTION to cluster them in the top corners of the layout.
  8. Further embellish with COLLECTABLES, CHEESECLOTH GAUZE and RHINESTONES – HOT PINK.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft- Flamingo Fun- Picture 10

Relax with Sunkissed

Hello, Karen here and I have to ask you “How gorgeous is this months Kaisercraft collection – Sunkissed“?  I think it is stunning with all it’s bright colours and beautiful tropical flowers, birds and flamingos.

Relax

I knew I had the perfect photo to showcase the flamingo theme and so built my page around that.

I started by cutting a 1 in frame from the Hibiscus weave cardstock.  Then cut the remaining piece to an 8 ins square and gutted a 1.5 in frame from this – you will be left with two frames and a 5 in square piece.

IMG_3325

Trim .75 in from the bottom and right of the Mojito paper  and add to the Hibiscus frame.

Cut a piece of Daiquiri paper to measure 5.5 ins from the bottom.  Lay, but do not stick 1 in from the bottom of your page.  Lay, but do not stick the 8 in Hibiscus frame on top of this, 2 ins from the bottom and 2 ins from the left.

IMG_3327

Mark with a pencil where it covers the flamingos and carefully cut the overlapped sections.

IMG_3328

You can now stick down the piece of Daiquiri  but don’t stick the parts you have trimmed as these are going over the 8 in Hibiscus frame.

Add a fussy cut spray of flowers cut from Pina Colada to the top left of your page, then add the 8 in Hibiscus frame 2 ins from the left and 2 ins from the bottom

Add another spring of flowers from Pina Colada to the top left of your page, overlapping the Hibiscus frame. To the centre of the Hibiscus frame add the green and white polka dot paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad then stick the flamingos over that.

Add the sheet of paper with flamingos and green stripes, also from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad,  to the bottom right of your page .75 from right and 1.5 from bottom.  Add the 5 in square of Hibiscus to the centre of this.

A third spring cut from Pina Colada  is added to the top right of your page.

IMG_3329

I added phrases from the Collectables pack to the top left of the green and white polka dot paper and a tab from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.

IMG_3331

To finish I used ‘Relax’ and two flamingos , from the Collectables pack, at the bottom of my photograph.

IMG_3332

This page came together so easily and it turned out to be such a fun page with all those cute flamingos!

Stay safe and I hope you can find time to do some crafting to take your mind of this crazy time we are in at the moment.

Favourite Day with Native Breeze

Hello, Karen here with my third page using Native Breeze.  I was particularly struck by the gorgeous Sundown paper in this range and wanted to use it to showcase a photo of my daughter and her partner, when they got engaged in Italy on a beach at sunset.

Favourite Day

I started by trimming 5ins from the top and .5 in from the right of the Sundown paper. I then stuck this to the top of a piece of Shadow Weave Kaisercard leaving a .25 border at the top and both sides.

Next I tore 4 in piece of the reverse of Eucalyptus paper, vertically – to give it an uneven top, trimmed .5 in from one side and added to the bottom of my page to give the illusion of a landscape similar to that of my chosen photo.

I double mounted my photo onto two pieces of paper taken from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and added this to my page, slightly overlapping the torn piece at the bottom.

IMG_2831

At the top right of my photo I tucked a phrase from the  Southern Sky paper with a ticket phrase from the Collectables Pack at the top right and bottom left of the  Southern Sky phrase.

Under my photo I placed two border stickers, a large circular phrase sticker and seven pennant stickers in an arc – all from the Sticker Book.

IMG_2830

The cluster at the top left of my photo was made up of leaves, flowers and birds, from the Collectables Pack, along with a flower cut from Banksia Bouquet paper and two fern leaves, die cut using a die similar to this one and a piece of Eucalyptus paper .

IMG_2832

My title ‘Favourite Day’, also from the Collectables Pack was added to the bottom left of my photo and as a final flourish I added a Rose Pearl to each of the banner stickers.

Favourite Day

This was the perfect paper for the perfect photo.

Today’s Moments with Kaisercraft’s Lily and Moss Collection

Hello Lovely Craft Friends,

I had a lot of fun scraping this gorgeous 6 month photo of my Mum’s friends granddaughter. The pinks and greens of the LILY AND MOSS Collection were just so perfect for this cute baby page. I have included some horizontal bunting- shaped pieces to compliment my theme and add something a little extra. Many of you would like to know that there also no fussy cutting in this layout so maybe this will encourage you to give this one a go! It would be suitable for many types of photos, not only baby photos.Picture 1- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection

To create this gorgeous layout I followed the steps below:

  1. Take WHIRL – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION and trim to 30.5 x 30.5 cm. Distress the edges using a PAPER DISTRESSER, followed by inking the edges using an Ink Blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – FOREST.
  2. Using CLEAR TEXTURE STAMP – GRID and KAISERINK PAD – FOREST stamp the length of the right side of the page and tapering down to the middle of the left side of the page.
NB. Before taking the next step, I would recommend cutting a 16 x 12.8 cm rectangle from the Whirl paper unless you are happy to use a second sheet.Picture 2- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection
  3. Take FLORA – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION and cut two strips at 26.5 x 12.3 cm and 22.8 x 5.3 cm. Cut an isosceles triangle from one end of each piece to form a bunting shape. Distress the edges using a PAPER DISTRESSER, followed by inking the edges using an Ink Blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – FOREST.
  4. Take PRIMARY – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION and cut a strip at 26.5 x 12.3 cm.Cut an isosceles triangle from one end of each piece to form a bunting shape. Distress the edges using a PAPER DISTRESSER, followed by inking the edges using an Ink Blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – FOREST.
  5. Layer the bunting as shown in the picture below. The green piece is about 7 cm from the bottom and 1 cm from the right side. Whereas, the pink piece is about 7.5 cm from the top and 2 cm from the right. Picture 3- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection
  6. I have then glued 3 strips of Burlap Lace with differing lengths (26, 24 and 18 cm), decreasing in size from right to left on the page. I have used spare paper to form a “hold” for the Lace. You could use any lace here or even a few more layer of papers instead.
  7. Frame photo (15.1 x 10.2 cm) with a pink-green mix sheet from the PAPER PAD – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION cut down to 16 x 11.2 cm. Prepare another piece of this sheet at 13.5 x 4.2 cm to make an additional bunting piece to go under top left corner of the framed photo. Lastly, take a piece of the WHIRL – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION  with measurements of16 x 12.8 cm. Distress the edges of all pieces and ink all edges with  KAISERINK PAD – FOREST. Layer all the pieces as shown in the picture below and use MOUNTING FOAM TAPE to adhere to the layout, on the right side of the central bunting layers.Picture 4- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection
  8. Embellish with the COLLECTABLES – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION and CURIOS – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION.Picture 5- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection
  9. Embellish further with stickers from the STICKER BOOK – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION, pulled green thread, Glossy Accents and RHINESTONES – SOFT PINKPicture 1- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection Picture 6- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection Picture 7- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection Picture 8- Today's Moment- Lily and Moss Collection

Birthday Tea Party with Oh Happy Day

Hello, Karen here with my final project for January using the Oh Happy Day collection from Kaisercraft.

This time I decided to make a multi-photo layout using lots of Curios, Collectables, Stickers and pop-outs from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.  They were perfect for clustering in a circle around my five photos.

Birthday Tea Party

For this layout I have used Party Popper, 100’s and 1000’s and Starlight 12 x 12 papers,  Curios, collectables, sticker book, 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, Lemonade Kaisercard,   Sea Breeze Alpha silver rhinestones  and Fireworks stencil.

I started by cutting the  Party Popper and 100’s and 1000’s paper diagonally and then cutting .25 in from both the straight sides.  This was adhered to the Lemonade Kaisercard with a .5 in wide piece of Starlight covering the join.  I drew a pencil circle on the middle of my page and added the words ‘Birthday Tea’ using Sea Breeze Alpha.IMG_1952

I added my five photos to the circle then used the  Fireworks stencil and some texture paste to add little bursts to my page.  I only spread the paste through individual bursts so that I was able to easily determine where they would be placed.

IMG_1982

All that remained was to fill in the circle around my photos using stickers, pop outs from the 6.5 x 6.5 sticker book, collectables, elements cut from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and I cut the words from some of the bingo cards on the 100’s and 1000’s paper.  I also dotted some silver rhinestones around the page. IMG_2060

To finish my page I added three Curios to the centre of three of the bursts.

IMG_2061 IMG_2063

The ‘Party’ banner, from the collectables pack, was a perfect finish to my page.

Happy Birthday with Oh Happy Day

Link

I have to say I am loving working with the Oh Happy Day collection and love the bright, cheery colours and the retro patterns on the papers which all have beautiful gold foiling.  I have used it to make a multi photo layout documenting Gracia’s 18th birthday, which was 8 years ago!

finished layout

For this layout I have used Snow Weave Kaisercard, Time to Party, Fire Cracker, Garlands and Star Light 12 x 12 papers, collectables, curios, sticker book6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and Mounting Foam Dots.

I started by cutting .5 in from two adjacent sides of the Time to Party paper, which I then stuck to the Snow Weave Kaisercard.  On top of this I added a piece of Fire Cracker which I had cut to 9ins square, finally to this I added a 8.5in square piece of Star Light.

IMG_1885

I mounted my photographs onto some scraps of white card.  I used four 2in x 3in photos and one 3in x 4in.   These were added to the bottom of my paper with the bottom of the photo mounts lined up with the bottom of the Star Light paper.  Next I fussy cut the ‘Happy Birthday’ penant from the Garlands paper and added to the bottom of my page with a Curio at the point where the two words meet. A border from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad was added above the three right hand photos.

I stuck the ‘Wishing You The Best Day Ever’ sticker to a scrap of card, along with the pennants (both were from the sticker book)  and cut them out with a thin white border.   These were added to the top of my page with a star, also from the sticker book to either side of the pennants.

IMG_1896

I typed my journaling onto a word document and adhered a page from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad onto a piece of A4 card and fed this through my printer to get the text printed onto the blue paper.

IMG_1886

IMG_1894

Once I had cut my journaling into strips and added to my page.  I subsequently realised I had ‘and Josh’ twice and have snipped off the second one.  I added a cluster of phrases to the top right of my photos using collectables, a pop out from the  6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and a ticket also cut from the paper pad, finishing off with a curio and star.

IMG_1892

I completed my page by adding collectables and stickers to my photographs.

IMG_1893

We would love to see what you have made with this collection and you can post your makes on the Merly Crop Facebook page.

Birthday Cards and Holder with Oh Happy Day

When Chrissy sent me the Oh Happy Day collection I knew, immediately, that I wanted to make some Birthday cards with it.  I like to make a quick holder if I make a set of cards to keep them together or, along with the set of cards, for a readily available present if I need one in a hurry.

IMG_1740

Cut a piece of Lemonade Kaisercard to measure 7.5ins x 12 ins and score at 5.5 ins and 6.5 ins.
IMG_1585

Cut two pieces of Bright Bursts measuring 5ins x 7in and one piece .75 ins x 7 ins.  Also, cut two pieces of Yey measuring 5 ins x 7 ins.

IMG_1586

Adhere the Bright Bursts pieces to the front, back and spine of the folder.

IMG_1587

Cut two pieces of ribbon (this was from my own supplies) and add to the left and right of the inside and on top of these glue the pieces of Yey .

IMG_1588

From the remaining piece of Lemonade Kaisercard, cut two pieces 4 x 6.  Score at .25in, .75inm 5.25in and 5.75 ins, then score at .25 and .75 from the bottom.

IMG_1590

Trim away the bottom corners and fold the bottom and sides to form pockets.  Adhere one to each side of the card holder approx .25in from the bottom.

Cut two pieces of Yay  2.75 x 4in and glue to the front of each pocket.

IMG_1591

To decorate my cover I cut a rectangular piece of Snow Weave Kaisercard and an offset frame, also from Snow Weave Kaisercard.

IMG_1666

I covered  these with some paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad. To finish the front of the card holder I decorated it  Collectables, stickers from the sticker bookCurios and ‘pop outs’ from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad

IMG_1740

For the cards I used six 4 x 6 cards from my own supplies and a combination of papers and pop outs, from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, stickers from the sticker book, Collectables, and fussy cut elements, also from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.

All six cards and envelopes fitted perfectly into the pockets in my card folder.

I think you will agree that the Oh Happy Day collection is perfect for making beautiful cards.  I did think I would give these ones away as a little gift for a friend but now am in two minds about that as I like them too much.

Seaside Adventures with Uncharted Waters

Hello, Karen here with the first of my projects using Uncharted Waters. It seems strange working with seaside photos when its cold and frosty outside!  For my first project I decided to use an embroidery hoop as a frame for my home decore – I have seen several of these used in this way recently, and was itching to have a go.

IMG_1351 I cut a circle from Pelagic which was .5 inch larger than my inside hoop. To this I added a torn piece of Seashore to the bottom, I though this would look like sand.   Than I snipped all around the edge of the circle and secured it into my hoop.

I used White Iridescent Kaisermist to add splatters all over the papers.

IMG_1309

I placed a frame, from the collectables pack, to the top left of my photo and  a ‘Wild and Free’ sticker from the Sticker Book.

I then used phrases from the collectables pack and the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to create a cluster at the top left of my photo, finishing the cluster with a curio.

IMG_1353

On the top left of my frame I used starfish and shells from the collectables pack and the Sticker Book.  I used a die, from my own stash, to cut some ‘seaweed’ from a page out of the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.

IMG_1352

At the bottom of my frame I used collectables and wooden fluorishes, which were raised on foam pads, together with two more pieces of seaweed.

IMG_1354

Finally I used a phrase from the Shallows paper for my title.

IMG_1356

I really enjoyed making this project and can’t wait to show you what I have made for my second project this month.

Until than I hope you can find some crafty time and I hope I have inspired you to try something different with the Uncharted Waters collection.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow with Crafternoon

Hello, Karen here with my first project using Kaisercraft’s Crafternoon range.  When I saw the gingham paper from the Crafternoon range I knew I wanted to make a multi photo page about a Dorothy, from the Wizard of Oz, costume my daughter and I made.
IMG_0792I often take part in a challenge from a group called Scrap Squad and they have a weekly scraplift, this week’s scraplift from Scrap Squad was perfect for this.

I started by working out the size of my grid and then used blue embroidery thread to stitch the lines I had drawn onto a piece of Kaisercard Snow Weave

IMG_0777Next I used  DIY paper for two of the 3in x 4in sections and the reverse (gingham) for the two 3in x 8in sections. I then cut two 3in x 4in sections from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to fill in two more sections.  I used one of the gingham pages from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad for the central 6in x 4in section and made a pocket using another page from the pad.

IMG_0778

I added my photographs and then stamped the stitched heart, from the Crafternoon stamp set,  using  a Lagoon Mini Ink Pad.

IMG_0779

I pricked each end of the ‘stitches’ and stitched them with the same blue thread as before and trimmed around the edge.

IMG_0795

I added my photos and used flowers from the Sticker Book and some Collectables to make two clusters on my page, adding a Curio to each cluster. I used the middle sized die from the Fancy Doily die to cut a white doily and after cutting this in half added to the top of the far left photo and the bottom of the far right.

IMG_0797

IMG_0796

I used the alphabet stickers from the Sticker Book for my title and added my journaling onto a piece of plain card, which I popped into the pocket, using a border punch along the top.

IMG_0794

IMG_0793

The Crafternoon  collection was perfect for this page, especially as the DIY paper matched the fabric used for Gracia’s costume.
