Love Story using Gums and Roses

Hi everyone,
Today I am sharing a set of layouts that I like to call Twin Pages. This is because they are very similar, usually mirrored or copied, but not identical. I find pages like this really simple and easy to create, they also go quite nicely on opposite pages in a scrapbook. I highly recommend giving “Twin Pages” a go if you are hoping to at getting a few pages beautiful layouts done quickly! I have used two of the Gumnut Garden papers from the Gums and Roses Collection because they already have a pretty frame printed on them which was easy to add too.

To create this project I have followed the steps below:

I hope I have inspired you with my twin pages using the Gums and Roses Collection today. I have loved using this beautiful collection! I also highly recommend to try out a set of twin pages when you are next in your craft room (or space) and I would love to see any that you create so please share them.
Stay Safe and Happy Crafting!

Family Christmas – Emerald Eve Collection

Hi Everyone,
I love this photo of me and my sisters and brother taken…….well over 45 years ago (I think) we don’t have many photo’s of us when we were young, but I do love this one. The Emerald Eve collection was just perfect to scrap it, the colours matched beautifully.

Products Used: Emerald Eve Collection – P2964 Christmas Pine x 2|P2965 Fir Tree x 2|P2968 Mistletoe Magic x 2|P2970 Emerald Leaves x 2|P2972 Fir Sprigs x 2|

Other Products Used: UCE1729 Gold Pearls|SB713 Pearl Pearls|KM132 Gold Kaisermist. For the wood effect base paper, I used one from my own stash – You can use P2967 Rejoice paper

Here are some brief instructions to create my layout

  1. Cut the Fir Springs paper down to 12 x 12 to form your base.
  2. Cut the Fir Tree paper down to 29.5 x 29.5 cm, mat onto base, leaving only an edge of the base showing on the right hand side and bottom.
  3. Cut the Rejoice paper down to 28.5 x 28.5 cm, mat this onto your layout.
  4. Sew around your layout.
  5. Splatter some gold Kaisermist all over your layout, mostly in the top left hand corner and bottom right hand corner.
  6. Fussy cut lots of elements from Christmas Pine’s & Emerald Leaves papers and the stars from Mistletoe Magic papers.
  7. Mat your 10cm wide x 14cm high photo onto your layout, then arrange all your fussy cut elements around it, in the top left hand corner and bottom right hand corner, use foam pads to give height and dimension. From the other paper, cut some 0.5cm green and gold strips, tuck these around your layout, top left hand corner and bottom right hand corner. Add some gold and pearl pearls to the centre of your stars.

Below are some close ups of the layering, you can also find more on my Instagram page – The Fussy Cutter

I really loved using this collection and hope I have inspired you to create with it also. Please feel free to join the Merly Facebook Group where you can share your creations using our products and where you will see sneak peeks of my kits.

Thankful For You with Premaveera

Hello, Karen here with my third project using ScrapBoys Primavera collection. I love all the pinks and greens that feature in this range and again, this layout features lots of fussy cutting, which the collection ‘cries out’ for.

I started by cutting an eighth of an inch from all four sides of Paper 02 and then cutting out the centre, using a scalpel, (I kept the centre to use on another layout).

Next, I cut the two patterned corners from Paper 01. I added the Paper 02 to a piece of Snow Weave Kaisercard, only sticking the outer edges down, and then tucked the two corners from Paper 02 under the top right and bottom left of the Paper 01 . I added mounting foam dots under some of the flowers and leaves to give some dimension to my page.

From Paper 06 I cut two identical frames, trimming the right side border from one and the left side border from the other. I then placed them side by side in the centre of my page. I added lots of birds from Paper 07.

I used the phrase stamps from Clear Stamps Anthology to add my title using Cotton Candy ink, at the top left and bottom right of my photo mounts. I also added some Rose pearls under my phases and scattered a few around the page, to add interest to my page.

To finish my page, after adding two 3in x 4in photos, I placed a curio under my left photo and above the right one.

I have one more project this month, using ScrapBoys Primavera collection and this one only has a tiny amount of fussy cutting :0)

Hello Love with Primavera

Hello, Karen here with my second layout using the stunning Premavera range from ScrapBoys. This range is perfect to use for any page that requires a soft delicate touch – like this one of my puppy Darcey!

I started by trimming .5 inch from Paper 03 and cutting it in half horizontally. I then stuck it onto a piece of Snow Weave Kaisercard, with the pattern across the centre of the page. I used the Stonewall 6×6 Designer Stencil and some crackle texture paste to add some interest to the top left and bottom right of my page – absolutely love the effect this has on the page.

To cover the join I added some flowers fussy cut from Paper 04 to each side of my page.

Next I cut one of the circle frames from Paper 05, removing the centre also. In addition, I cut two small circle frames from Paper 06. These were added diagonally to my page.

I used Decorative Die Textured Criss Cross and some scraps from Paper 05 to cut two pieces which I placed overlapping the top of my centre strip on the left and the bottom of my centre strip on the right.

My title was die cut from a scrap of Paper 05.

Finally I embellished my page with some Champagne Pearls.

Another page, using the Premavera range, that I am delighted with!

Favourite Day with Native Breeze

Hello, Karen here with my third page using Native Breeze.  I was particularly struck by the gorgeous Sundown paper in this range and wanted to use it to showcase a photo of my daughter and her partner, when they got engaged in Italy on a beach at sunset.

Favourite Day

I started by trimming 5ins from the top and .5 in from the right of the Sundown paper. I then stuck this to the top of a piece of Shadow Weave Kaisercard leaving a .25 border at the top and both sides.

Next I tore 4 in piece of the reverse of Eucalyptus paper, vertically – to give it an uneven top, trimmed .5 in from one side and added to the bottom of my page to give the illusion of a landscape similar to that of my chosen photo.

I double mounted my photo onto two pieces of paper taken from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and added this to my page, slightly overlapping the torn piece at the bottom.

At the top right of my photo I tucked a phrase from the  Southern Sky paper with a ticket phrase from the Collectables Pack at the top right and bottom left of the  Southern Sky phrase.

Under my photo I placed two border stickers, a large circular phrase sticker and seven pennant stickers in an arc – all from the Sticker Book.

The cluster at the top left of my photo was made up of leaves, flowers and birds, from the Collectables Pack, along with a flower cut from Banksia Bouquet paper and two fern leaves, die cut using a die similar to this one and a piece of Eucalyptus paper .

My title ‘Favourite Day’, also from the Collectables Pack was added to the bottom left of my photo and as a final flourish I added a Rose Pearl to each of the banner stickers.

Favourite Day

This was the perfect paper for the perfect photo.

Specially For You with Flowers Story

Hello, Karen here with my second layout using ScrapBoys Flowers Story range plus one sheet from Victorian Home, also from ScrapBoys.  I was really pleased with how the two ranges worked so well together, with the pink and blue butterflies from Victorian Home perfectly complimenting the orange and brown ones from the Flowers Story papers.

Specially for you

For this layout I started with a piece of Coal Weave Kaisercard and onto this I added a piece of Paper 02 which I had trimmed 1/8 in from each side.  I then added a 9 in square of Paper 04, black and white side showing, adding texture paste through the Distressed Dots Stencil at the bottom left and top right of my page.

IMG_2309 - Copy

From the Paper 06 I cut a large frame and the bird and rose centres from two of the other large frames. These were mounted onto a piece of Oatmeal Weave Kaisercard .  I added the frame to the centre of my page, the bird below that to the right and the rose above to the left.

IMG_2310 - Copy

Next I decided to add some butterflies to the top left and bottom right of my layout using more texture paste  and a butterfly mini stencil.

After adding my photo to the centre frame I cut four large butterflies from Paper 07 and all the pink and blue butterflies from Victorian Home Paper 07.

I added these, giving the appearance that they were flying from the bottom right to the top left of my page.

IMG_2427 IMG_2425

To finish my page I added the title ‘Specially for You’ which was on one of the manufacturer’s strips , some journalling on a scrap of Coal Weave Kaisercard and dotted some Bronze Rhinestones and white pearls in with the butterflies.

Handmade with Love- Crafternoon Mini Album

Hello Everyone,

Today I am sharing a Mini Album that I have created using Kaisercraft’s CRAFTERNOON Collection. I was excited to use this collection! I think it is very versatile and it just perfect to capture and record those creative memories, especially for those photos that are a little more difficult to use with “just any collection”. I have used the great mix of colours in this collection to create this Mini Album, to display a bunch of photos taken on a painting day with my partners nephew, nieces and Dalmatian.

To create this Mini Album I have followed the instructions below:

  1. To from the pages of the Mini Album, take KAISERCARD LEMONADE WEAVE CARDSTOCKKAISERCARD ANCHOR WEAVE CARDSTOCK and KAISERCARD SNOW WEAVE CARDSTOCK, cut two rectangles (17.5 x 14.5 cm) from each colour. From the top-right and bottom-left cut out a 1.5 x 3.5 cm rectangle from each corner. In the remaining 1.5 x 10 cm section on the right, punch two holes 8 cm apart. Ink the edges of each pages with an ink blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – SMOKEKAISERINK PAD – BLUSH or KAISERINK PAD – AMBER20191013_192753

  4. Attach the patterned papers to the the cardstock pages. Transfer the stitch pattern of  QUILTED 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL randomly onto the patterned papers using TEXTURE PASTE.20191013_223336
    1. Three 11 x 11 cm squares
    2. Four 11 x 8.5 cm rectangles
    3. Two 22 x 11 rectangles, folded in half
    4. Two 11 x 25.5 rectangles, folded at 8.5 cm and 17 cm
  6. Attach photo backings as desired to the pages of the Mini Album. Attach photos of sizes 10 x 10 cm (x9) and 7.5 x 10 cm (x10). Embellish the pages with elements from PAPER PAD – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION, stickers from STICKER BOOK – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTIONCOLLECTABLES – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION, CURIOS – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTIONFLOURISH PACK – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION, doilies from CROCHET – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTIONRHINESTONES – ICE BLUERHINESTONES – DEEP YELLOW, and PEARLS – BLUSH.

Be Happy with Paisley Days

Karen here with my first May project and for this page I have used the very bright and bold Paisley Days collection.

Be Happy

The items I have used are Snow Weave cardstock, Groovy paper (reverse side), Positivity paper, 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, Collectables, Clear Stamps, Flower Cluster die, Teal PearlsDeep Yellow Rhinestones, KaiserMist in Rose Gold, Kaiser Ink Pads and Kaiserfusion Pens.

I started by gutting a 1.5 inch frame from the Positivity paper.  I then cut 1 inch from the bottom and one side of the Snow Weave cardstock and mounted this on top of the Positivity frame. The next step was to cut 1.5 inches from the bottom and one side of the Groovy paper (reverse side), which was mounted on top of the white card. I also cut a 5in and a 4 in circle from two papers from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and stuck these centrally to my page.

I flicked Rose Gold Kaisermist liberally onto my page.

Next, I die cut six Flower Clusters from white card and arrange them around the 5 inch circle. I stamped one of the flowers from the Clear Stamps six times with black ink and coloured with  Kaiserfusion Pens.

The stamp set has a really fun butterfly which you build up using three stamps in different colours.

I stamped three different colourways of the butterfly, fussy cut and added these, and the flowers to the outside of the circle of die cut Flower Clusters.   I added a 4in x 4in photograph to the centre and embellished the diecuts with Teal Pearls and Deep Yellow Rhinestones.

Finally, I used  Collectables to add my title to the top left of the page and a small cluster to the bottom right.

I hope I have inspired you to buy some of this gorgeous collection to play with and will be back soon with another project using Paisley Days.

Be You with Breathe

Karen here with my second post for April.  Now I know I say it every month about the collection I am working with and every month it’s true – I really, really love this month’s range – Breathe.

Be You_edited-1

For this layout I have used Kaisercard Anchor Weave Cardstock, Floral Twilight paper, Sticker Book, Collectables, 6.5 x 6.5 Paper Pad, Curios, Leaves Mini Designer Stencil and Chocolate Pearls.

I especially like how so many of the items in this range have the same cute leaf pattern and wanted to focus on that.

I started by cutting the Floral Twilight paper to 6in x 11/5 ins and added to the top of my cardstock, leaving a .25 border at each side and the top.

Next I cut one of the border stickers from the Sticker Book, in half and added both sides at the bottom of my paper.

I then used the Leaves Mini Designer Stencil and a white gel pen to draw the leaf pattern four times at the bottom of my page – moving the stencil down a little each time to give some verity to the pattern.

I used two sheets of paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 Paper Pad to mount my photo and then added a phrase sticker from the Sticker Book under my photo. This was added to the centre of my page above the drawn leaf pattern.

I used a doily, from my own supplies, at the top left of my photo and then built up clusters of embellishments at the top left and bottom right of my photo using stickers, die cuts from the paper pad, collectables, and a Curio. The final touch was to add some Chocolate Pearls to the centre of the small flowers and as ‘berries’ to the sprigs.

This layout came together really quickly and I am busy plotting and planning my next two projects.

Until next time I hope you find the time to be a bit crafty this month.

Live Laugh Love Pocket Page with Breathe

Karen here with my first project using the beautiful Breathe collection.  How gorgeous is this range with its subtle tones of pink, grey, navy and black?

Live Laugh Love

I was so inspired by the collection that I have scrapped four photos that were taken last Saturday.  Often, I take photos and they languish on my phone for months before they are used but I thought these ones went so perfectly with the Breathe paper range I printed them out immediately and used them in a pocket page.  Chrissy has pocket/project life pages here.

For this project I have used the Breathe Sticker Book, 6.5 x 6.5 Paper Pad, Breathe Curios, Leaves Mini Designer Stencil, Chocolate Pearls, Anchor Weave Cardstock and Snow Weave Cardstock.

I started by cutting two pieces of  Anchor Weave Cardstock and six pieces of Snow Weave Cardstock measuring 4 ins x 3 ins.  From the 6.5 x 6.5 Paper Pad I cut six pieces of paper,  measuring 3.75 x 2.75 and four measuring 3.5in x 2.5in.  I mounted the six 3.75 x 2.75 peices  onto the smooth side of the Snow Weave Cardstock rctangles and then added the smaller pieces onto four of these.

Onto one of the cards, with only one piece of paper, I used stickers from the Breathe Sticker Book to add my title, embellishing with flower stickers and Chocolate Pearls.

I then used stickers from the Breathe Sticker Book  to further embellish my remaining white cards, adding a couple of Curios and Chocolate Pearls.  I added some Mounting Foam Dots behind some of the stickers to give them some dimension.

6 53 1 8 Next I used a pencil and the Leaves Mini Designer Stencil to draw part of the design onto the two Anchor Weave Cardstock cards.  I flipped the stencil over so that the designs were facing the opposite way.

I then used a fine needle to prick out the pattern and sewed it with two strands of embroidery floss.

Once assembled I think this page has a lot of interest due to the abundance of stickers which would have looked ‘over the top’ if I had used that many on a 12 x 12 page.

I already have my next page, using this collection, ready and it has another way to use the Leaves Mini Designer Stencil together with several papers and embellishments from the Breathe collection which have the same pretty flower design.
