September 2018 Merly Crop Kit

Hi Everyone,
What a lovely crop we had yesterday and thank you so much to everyone who attended and made the day so very special. What a fun day we had of crafting, chatting and catching up with everyone, we also had a few new people, we hope they and everyone else who attended enjoyed the day and enjoyed making their layouts from September Kit.

For the kit I used the beautiful “Sparkle” Kaisercraft collection. Included in the Crop Kit, were detailed instructions and stash to make two layouts.

Below are photo’s of the two layouts I created for the kit. Here is the first layout which I called: “Leave a little Sparkle wherever you go”  – My layout features beautiful fussy cut poinsettia flowers, some cutting out of the geometric shapes and a little stitching.

…….and here is the second layout which I’ve called: “Sparkle” – it features beautiful fussy cut rose gold foiled snow flakes, stitching and punched out colour coordinating butterflies.

The kit is now available to purchase in the Merly Impressions on-line shop – it can be found in the Layout Kits section of the website.

I just want to say a massive thank you!!!! to everyone that attended our September  crop which made it such a very special day. We look forward to seeing your finished layouts using my kit over on the Merly Crop Facebook page.

Below are a few photo’s of the day.

Follow your Dreams with Hide and Seek

Hi everybody,

Denise here with my last project using the Hide and Seek Kaisercraft collection.

Hide and Seek 2

I started by using the arrow sheet Mountains as the background. Next, I used some texture paste through a Fern 6×6 stencil on the stripey side of a sheet of  Wild Fields paper.

Fern 6x6 Designer Stencil

I then used some Worn Lipstick distress ink watered down to colour over the paste and cut the sheet down by one centimetre on two adjacent sides. This was then placed on to the arrow background paper. I used a floral manufacturer’s strip across the middle to conceal the words.

Once the texture paste was dried I matted my photo onto some papers from the 6.5  x 6.5  pad. I also used some of the die cuts from the pad to add underneath my photo.

I also added and layered  some of the collectables to embellish around the layout.IMG_2921IMG_2922

I fussy cut some clouds from one of the papers and edged them with some little dots to add definition.IMG_2919

Finally some latte pearl rhinestones were added to finish off.

This has been a fun collection to work with and am looking forward to bringing you something a bit different next time !

You Are My Happy with Full Bloom

You Are My Happy

Karen here and its time for my third, and without a doubt my favourite, project this month using the lovely Full Bloom collection.

I absolutely loved making these little tags.  I started by cutting eight 3in x 5in tags from Kaisercraft Premium Ivory cardstock. I then cut a selection of smaller tag shapes and small circles from the 6.5ins x 6.5ins paper pad.  I used my Silhouette for this but a similar effect could be achieved by finding a tag template on Pinterest and using that, there are so many to choose from!

Tag One

I added ‘splodges’ of VineAvocadoBerry and Petal Pink ink to my tag using a mini ink blending tool.  To this I added some Transparent Gloss texture paste through a Blossom mini stencil. After the texture paste had dried I wiped some of the ink away with a baby wipe which left the ink pattern under the texture paste slightly more vibrant.  To this I added a piece of a tag, cut from the 6.5ins x 6.5ins paper pad, a flower border from the sticker sheet ‘Bloom Where You Are Planted’ cut from the Rosebud paper, some elements from the Collectables Pack and ‘Love Always’ from Flourish Pack – Blooming.

Tag Two

I started by adding the black and white striped tag cut from 6.5ins x 6.5ins paper pad, I then added my title and the heart cut from Blooming Foil paper, a piece of a border from the  sticker sheet, a bunch of flowers from the Collectables Pack, a heart, which I had coloured with Berry ink and a bird from Flourish Pack – Blooming and three Latte pearls .

Tag Three

After gluing the small flower paper from the 6.5ins x 6.5ins paper pad I cut the bunch of flowers from Blooming Foil paper and added to the centre.  Next I added two sentiments from the Collectables Pack and ‘You are my today …’ from the Rosebud paper, three hearts from Flourish Pack – Blooming – inked pink with Berry ink and a heart from the  sticker sheet.

Tag 4

I started by adding the lovely gingham paper from the 6.5ins x 6.5ins paper pad and a doily, from my own supplies, then a piece of border sticker from the  sticker sheet,  and finished with flowers and ‘Blessed’ from the Collectables Pack.

Tag 5

I started by inking through the Blossom mini stencil with VineAvocadoBerry and Petal Pink ink, then added a tab from the sticker sheet, ‘The Best is Yet to Come’ from the Rosebud paper and ‘Everyday’ and some flowers from  the Collectables Pack and finally embellished with Latte pearls.

Tag 6

First I adhered a piece of green paper from the 6.5ins x 6.5ins paper pad and added a rectangle of paper from the same pad.  I cut ‘Love Always’ from the Rosebud paper, added ‘Grateful’ from  the Collectables Pack, a ‘washie tape’ sticker and piece of border sticker from the sticker sheet, finally adding a Dusty Pink paper bloom.

To construct my page I used Watermelon Weave cardstock as my base, adding a piece of Florist paper, reverse side, cut to 11.75ins to 11.75ins. I added the pink and black striped sticker from the sticker sheet to the centre of my page, adding three pearls at each end and used my final two tags, which I trimmed and stuck together, for my photo mount.

Well done, if you have ploughed your way to the end of this rather long blog post.

I already have the paper range I am using for August’s creations in my posession and I am just so excited to show you what I have come up with for next month.  Until then don’t forget to pop back to see what the ultra talented Chrissy, Emmy and Denise have to show you!

Life is Better with You layout with Memory lane

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here today with my last post for June. This week I decided to design my own background paper, using pattern papers from Kaisercraft’s Memory Lane collection (available at Merly Impressions’ online store).

For my background I used two pattern papers – Jade Jewel and Raw Wood. To distress their edges I used Paper distresser and a piercing tool. First I adhered the panel from the Raw Wood pattern paper on a Kaisercard Kraft Cardstock. Using Waffle 6×6 Designer Stencil and Texture Paste, I created the white dimensional pattern. Then I adhered the second pattern paper panel using Kaisercraft 12mm Double-sided Tape and sprinkled  KaiserMist Spray Ink – Antique Gold and White on top.MI-life-is-better-det-a MI-life-is-better-det-b

I decided to use half of the gorgeous Shutters die-cut paper as a ‘frame’ for my picture and sentiments. I added cut-off quotes, fussy cut flowers from a glossy pattern paper from the Paper pad and pre-cut embellishments from the Collectables Pack. I adhered everything to the background using Mounting Foam Tape.

To decorate my page further I added flower clusters using Paper Blooms – Sage and Mini Paper Blooms – Coconut. To die cut the foliage I used Kaisercraft Decorative Die Mini Foliage, Kaisercard Coconut Weave Cardstock and greenish pattern paper.

MI-better-with-you-det-f MI-better-with-you-det-g

For the sentiment next to the ‘frame’ I used pattern paper from the Paper pad and from the Lakeside pattern paper

As a final touch I added Rhinestones – Mint Green, Rhinestones – Silver and Pearls – Pearl.

I hope I managed to inspire you today!

Keep creating!

Inspirational Journal with Memory lane

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here today with a brand new creation to share with you. As you may remember from my previous post, this month I have the pleasure to design with Kaisercraft’s most recent collection Memory Lane (available at Merly Impressions’ online store).

This collection has an amazing Shutters die-cut paper. I decided to use a part from this paper and many lovely quotes to decorate the front of a custom-made inspirational journal.

MI-journal-web530For my background I used a  panel from Villawood pattern paper, slightly bigger than the front cover of a normal notepad. I inked its edges with Ink Pad – Bark, distressed its edges using Paper distresser and a piercing tool. Then I adhered the pattern paper using Kaisercraft 12mm Double-sided Tape.

I added a cut-off quote at the bottom of the cover and stamped the brown pattern using Ink Pad – Bark and Clear Stamp – Diamonds.

While waiting for the ink to dry, I cut off a similar size panel from the Shutters die-cut paper, adhered White Lace behind the ‘windows’ and adhered it using Mounting Foam Tape to the background.

I took the quotes from the Lakeside pattern paper and the Paper padMI-journal-det-c MI-journal-det-b

To decorate the front cover, I used pre-cut elements from the Collectables Pack and the Paper pad. I shaped the green blossoms with an Embossing Tool and adhered them around my design using Mounting Foam Dots.MI-journal-det-d MI-journal-det-eAs a final touch I added Pearls – Pearl  and wooden shapes from Flourish Pack – Antiques.MI-journal-det-f MI-journal-det-g

I hope I managed to inspire you today!

Have a wonderful creative week!

March 17th 2018 – Merly Crop Kit layout preview

Hi Everyone,

The March 2018 Merly Crop will soon be upon us so here are the details and sneak peeks of the layouts that you will be able to create using the kit. For this kit I have used papers from the beautiful “Fairy Garden” Kaisercraft collection.

27459720_10154958224125356_7653578358126599317_nAlso supplied in the kit are DMC cotton, green & pink Kaisercard, pearls, a paper heart  template and detailed instructions with coloured photo’s for you to follow, so you can then create the two layouts that I have designed at your own pace.

Below are some sneak peeks of the first layout which I’ve called “I just want pretty things” I have used a coloured photo measuring 9.5cm wide x 11cm high. The layout features beautiful fussy cut flowers & leaves, fairies and butterflies, layered onto a large cut out and stitched heart. (a template will be supplied in the kit for the heart). I have used the gorgeous Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Marker on the cut out flower buds, butterflies and fairy wings. I have also used pink & green Kaisermist from my own stash.

IMG_9411IMG_9416IMG_9410 (1)IMG_9420……….and below are some sneak peeks of the second layout, which I’ve called “Your Wings already exist ” it uses one coloured photo measuring 9.5cm wide x 11.5cm high . This layout also features beautiful fussy cut flowers, butterflies and birds & Die-Cut flourishes & a little stitching. I have used some crystal lacquer on all of the butterflies and the Wink of Stella Glear Glitter Brush Marker. The pink Kaisermist is from my own stash.

2018-03-03 11.40.13-1Other items used on the layouts which you may want to bring are colour coordinating ink pads, I have used the “Vine” & “Petal Pink” Kaisercraft mini ink pads for inking around the edges, Crystal Lacquer (or similar) The Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Marker,  a needle for sewing (if you want to do it) foam pads and a small pair of scissors as there is a lot of fussy cutting on both layouts. We will however have a selection of ink pads & Foam dots/roll, crystal lacquer & the Wink of Stella Brush Markers available to purchase in the on site Merly shop.

I have also used the WRMK Sew Easy Tool – and a Martha Stewart edge punch, these will be available to use at the crop along with our usual supply of tools including the Big Shot machine & a small selection of other punches.

The location of the crop, together with other details and future dates can be found on our Crop Dates page. We also have a crop/retreat facebook page, where you can see more sneak peeks and details of up and coming events and where you can also post your finished layouts.

Extra kits will also be available to purchase at the crop. Just ask Paul for them.

We will not be bringing the box of mugs any more to save space in our cars, so please bring a cup/mug for your drinks. There are tiny cups available to use at the hall if you don’t want to bring one, you will need to wash, dry & put away what you use.

Two Mint Wishes Christmas Cards

Good Morning all

Elaine here again, this time bringing you two card made using the scrumptious Mint Wishes Collection.

The first card I am bringing you is an easel card, now I’m not saying you should make lots of these cards as that would be way too time consuming, but making them for the special people in your life would certainly put a smile on their faces I’m sure.

To make the card I followed a You Tube tutorial and there are lots on easel cards to choose from, so… once I had the base made ( I used a smooth piece of white cardstock) I took a 12″ sheet of Forest Paper as the background of the front piece. I have made my card at 7″ x 6″, however, this paper also features in the 6.5″ paper pad too so you could make the card slightly smaller to accommodate that size paper instead.

I then covered the base of the card with a piece of Shiver Paper and then mounted a piece of the reverse of the same Shiver Paper on silver Mirror card and mounted it using Mounting Foam Tape to create the ‘stop’ on the easel card. I inked all of these paper pieces with the Island Ink Pad.  I then die cut some silver flowers using a die from my stash but I think these individual snowflake dies would work just as well.

I then created a floral cluster using a large Poinsettia using this Decorative Die, centred with a Sea Breeze Sparklet, that I mounted on an inked frame that I got in a Little Birdie collection previously. I then used several die cuts from the collectables pack, some silver mirror card flourishes (cut using my own die), some cheesecloth gauze, and two flowers from the Little Birdie Chrissy blooms.

As a final flourish I splattered watered down white acrylic paint over the cluster and added small white pearls as a flower centre and on the frame and bottom left corner.

I do hope you’ll give this a try!

For my next card I took a 6″ square white card base and added a piece of silver mirror card slightly smaller to the front. I then distressed a 5.5″ square piece of the reverse of the Logs Paper and sponged it using the Baubles Mini Designer stencil and a black ink pad.

I then used my Sew Easy Stitch Piercer to make holes to sew using White embroidery thread. I used double sided tape to stick this to the mirror card and added a piece of cheesecloth as a base for my Christmas cluster.

I added a Kaisercraft Rhinestone flourish, two die cut flowers and leaves from the Mint Wishes collectables Pack that I then centred with Silver Glass Glitter. I added a couple of flowers from my stash too, (also with glass glitter added to the centres), and a die cut flourish cut from silver mirror card using my own die. To finish I used a little more wet glue and sprinkled extra glass glitter to the cheesecloth base with some tiny polystyrene balls to represent snow together with a doily die cut and a saying also from the collectables pack.

So, I hope you like my two cards for those special people in your life and that my tips will give you some ideas to create your own. Do let us know if you do, won’t you?

Scrapbook Layout using the Bombay Sunset Collection

Hi again

Elaine here today to bring you a vibrant layout using the bright and cheerful Bombay Sunset collection.

imageFirst I took a sheet of Kaisercard Splice Weave Cardstock and a 4″ strip of the Music Paper from the collection. I spliced the two together and trimmed the side of the yellow card to give me enough left to mat the photo. To do this I used some long neglected washi tape to secure the two spliced pieces of paper and card together.

I then created some layers using the reverse of the Rosewood Paper and each side of the Mumbai Paper. (Be sure to save the pretty floral element for one side of the Mumbai Paper for later!) Once these were stuck down I used some Turquoise Kaisermist spray and some Candy Kaisermist Spray over the background.

imageOnce dried I added a circle of pearls from my stash and used a strip from the Bombay Sunset sticker sheet over the join at the front of the paper and card above and below the layers of patterned papers. I matted the photo on the offset of yellow Splice card and used the fussy cut section of the remainder of the Mumbai paper from earlier for the base of my corner cluster.

imageTo create more interest I used a couple of mandalas from the collectables pack and layered these under the cluster with some cheesecloth and some Cherry Hemp Cord. For a final flourish I added some small Honey Kaiserblooms and a larger Fuchsia Bloom together with a Sea Breeze Rhinestone Sparklet and a couple of Daffodil Sparklets too. I used more collectables from the pack for the expression with the corner flourish and the title was made using alphas from my stash.

The saying beneath the photo was cut from a strip on one of the sheets from the collection pack.

I do hope this like this bright and happy collection as much as I do! Have fun with it!

Ubud Dreams Mini Album

Today I am pleased to be bringing you this Mini-album made using the newly released, yet ever so popular, Ubud Dreams Kaisercraft collection.

imageTo begin with I made the cover by taking two evenly sized pieces of card (any size you would like to make would be ideal but I chose 5″ X 7″ for mine)  and a smaller piece and then covering them with plain paper.

imageI then inked the plain paper with Lagoon Kaiser Ink.

I next covered the front with the reverse of the Mandala paper from the collection and Sekar paper on the back.  I then added die cuts from the collectables pack. I also coloured one of the mandalas in from the pack using  Kaisercraft gel glitter pens to give it a jewel like finish and added a strip of Natural lace to the front securing it beneath the patterned paper on the back of the front cover.

imageI then made two pockets to fit on the inside of the front cover and constructed double sided pages adherred to the rear of the cover leaving pockets for photo tags.

imageI embellished these using appropriate sayings from the sticker sheet. I am planning on using this album to record my before and after photos of my new home that I should be moving in to next month so some of the sayings were very appropriate..especially as this is my 17th move! ‘Life is not meant to be lived in one place’ after all said and done! Lol

The following images show some of the the highlights of the pages.

imageI also made double sided tags from the 6.5 x 6.5″ paper pad for the pockets using lots of die cuts, from the collectables pack, cut in half and layering them back to back for tabs to pull the tags out and I decorated each one with lengths of stickers from the useful sticker sheet.

imageOn several pages I used the Mini-Mix Designer Stencils to decorate the pages and yet more stickers and collectables

image imageFinally, on the front cover, I used Ranger Texture Paste through the same stencil to add texture adding a pearl in the centre of some of the flowers together with some further stencilling using the Tim Holtz Mesh stencil.

Finally I added some Iceberg mini blooms beneath the die cut window and added some die cut leaves from my own supplies along with a few more stickers both inside and on the back cover.

image….now all I have to do is create the ‘after’ photos to add to the album along with my ‘before’ photos I already have.
