September 2018 Merly Crop Kit

Hi Everyone,
What a lovely crop we had yesterday and thank you so much to everyone who attended and made the day so very special. What a fun day we had of crafting, chatting and catching up with everyone, we also had a few new people, we hope they and everyone else who attended enjoyed the day and enjoyed making their layouts from September Kit.

For the kit I used the beautiful “Sparkle” Kaisercraft collection. Included in the Crop Kit, were detailed instructions and stash to make two layouts.

Below are photo’s of the two layouts I created for the kit. Here is the first layout which I called: “Leave a little Sparkle wherever you go”  – My layout features beautiful fussy cut poinsettia flowers, some cutting out of the geometric shapes and a little stitching.

…….and here is the second layout which I’ve called: “Sparkle” – it features beautiful fussy cut rose gold foiled snow flakes, stitching and punched out colour coordinating butterflies.

The kit is now available to purchase in the Merly Impressions on-line shop – it can be found in the Layout Kits section of the website.

I just want to say a massive thank you!!!! to everyone that attended our September  crop which made it such a very special day. We look forward to seeing your finished layouts using my kit over on the Merly Crop Facebook page.

Below are a few photo’s of the day.

Christmas Joy with Sparkle

Karen here with the second of my projects using the Sparkle collection and this one couldn’t be more sparkly.  I have used a photo of my dog Kiera who really loves Christmas.  She adores to open presents and if you don’t watch her she will open them all and not just hers!

I started with a sheet of very glittery Blush Glitter Cardstock, which I gutted a 1.5 inch frame.  To this I added a piece of Coconut Weave Cardstock, trimmed to slightly larger than 10.5 ins square.

I then added strips of printed tape between the stripes of glitter on a piece of Vavacity paper which I then cut to 10.5 ins square.

I used a piece of  Blush Glitter Cardstock, measuring 8ins x 6ins as the base of my photo mat. I added a piece of Coconut Weave Cardstock – 7.5 x 5.5 and to the top of this I added a piece of Auroral cut to slightly smaller than 7.5 x 5.5.  I used mounting foam pads to attach the white card to the sparkle card and my photo to the Auroral paper.  I used more mounting foam pads to attach the whole stack to my page making sure that I had room at both edges to tuck elements underneath.

Next I added a small doily (from my own supplies) at the bottom left corner and the bottom right edge. I arranged flowers cut from Glint and flower stickers from the Sticker Pad to each side of my photograph, tucking some under each of the layers.

I cut one of the scalloped borders from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad in two and placed at the bottom left and top right of my photo stack.

I painted two of the trees from the flourish pack rose gold and added them to the bottom right of my page along with three trees from the Collectables.

I used stickers, also from the Sticker Pad as my title and at the top right of my photo along with three Champange rhinestones either side of the sticker.

The final touch was to cut the ‘Spreading Christmas Cheer’ sticker (from the sticker sheet) into three and back with a piece of Illuminate paper and to add to the top of my page.

So there we have my second project using this gorgeous range and I have almost finished my third which I can’t wait to show you!

September 15th 2018 – Merly Crop & Layout kit preview

Hi Everyone,

The September 2018 Merly Crop will soon be upon us so here are the details of the crop and sneak peeks of the layouts that you will be able to create using the kit.

For the kit I have used papers from the beautiful “Sparkle” Kaisercraft collection.

Also supplied in the kit are 8 meters of black DMC thread, 2 x black Kaisercard and detailed instructions with coloured photo’s for you to follow, so you can create the two layouts that I have designed at your own pace.

Below are some sneak peeks of the first layout which I’ve called “Leave a little sparkle wherever you go” I have used one coloured photo which measures 9cm wide x 11.5cm high. My layout features beautiful fussy cut poinsettia flowers and some fussy cut geometric shapes and some stitching. The butterflies are punched using two sizes of SU punches. For my title I have used the saying ” Leave a little sparkle wherever you go” this is from one of the info strips.

……….and below are some sneak peeks of the second layout, which I’ve called “Beautiful” I have used one coloured photo measuring 9.5cm wide x 12cm high. My second layout features beautiful fussy cut rose gold foiled snow flakes, stitching and punched colour coordinating butterflies. I have also added black rhinestones to this layout from my own stash, (these are not included in the kit).

Other items used on the layouts which you may want to bring are a colour coordinating ink pad, I have used the “Petal Pink ” Kaisercraft mini ink pad for inking around the edges, a needle for sewing (if you want to do it) foam pads and a small pair of scissors as there is some fussy cutting on both layouts. We will however have a selection of ink pads & Foam dots/roll, available to purchase in the on site Merly shop. From my own stash I have used some black rhinestones and the title on my second layout also comes from my own stash.

I have also used the WRMK Sew Easy Tool and two sizes of SU butterfly punches, I will bring all these to the crop for people to use and our usual supply of tools including the Big Shot machine & a small selection of other punches and dies.

The location of the crop, together with other details and future dates can be found on our Crop Dates page. We also have a crop/retreat facebook page, where you can see more sneak peeks and details of up and coming events and where you can also post your finished layouts.

At the crop we will also have our usual FABULOUS Merly Impressions Shop where you can purchase all the latest Kaisercraft goodies, including the new August & September releases and all our other Kaisercraft, Tim Holtz, ScrapFX, G45 & Little Birdie goodies. Extra kits will also be available to purchase at the crop. Just ask Paul for them.

The usual supply of tea, coffee and a selection of biscuits, chocolates, snacks & home made cakes will be available throughout the day. You will need to bring your own lunch and your usual supply of crafting tools.

See you all on Saturday 15th September 2018 at 10am (not before 9.55 unless you have been asked to help, as we will be very busy getting ready, please wait outside if you do turn up really early) – until 4pm.  The cost for the day & kit is £27.00, payable on the day, we take cash and/or cards.

For anyone who can not attend the crop, the kit will be available to purchase the day after the crop over on the website. The cost for this kit is £17.00.

See you all on Saturday 10am.

Happy scrapping, hugs,

Chrissy xXx xXx

Believe In The Magic Of Christmas with Sparkle

Karen here with my first post for September and where has this year gone to?  This month I have the first of Kaisercraft’s Christmas collections to work with and it is the totally stunning Sparkle collection which is filled with pinks, black and rose gold foiling.  Every sheet of paper in this collection is either glittered or foiled.

If you would like to see some of the collection I have a YouTube video here which shows the beautiful items I had in my Merly Impressions delivery.

I wanted to focus on the use the Sparkle Clear Stamp Set for this page and so stamped the large tree six times, using black ink, onto a page from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad,  I chose the one with gold spots as I thought that would look as though the trees had baubles on. I cut the trees out and as I wanted to make the trees 3d I scored and folded each tree along the centre and then adhered them together – see photo below .

I then cut .25in from the top and left of a piece of Radiance paper and added to some Licorice card.

I matted a 5in x 7in photo onto a piece of Glistening and then onto a piece of Auroral (black side). I adhered this to my page with foam dots, ensuring that I left room to tuck elements underneath.  I clustered flowers cut from Glint, Baubles and trees from the Collectables pack, tags and borders from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad around my photo along with the two 3d trees.

I also added a phrase from the Sticker pad and placed a Champagne rhinestone in the centre of each of the snowflakes on the scalloped border.

To finish my page I stamped the small trees, from the Sparkle Clear Stamp Set, several times onto the same paper as I had used for the large trees.  Then I snipped off the trunks, turned them upside down and used them as pennants for the bunting at the top of my page.  I finished by adding a Dusty Pink paper bloom between each of the pennants.

I can hardly wait, for later this month, to show you what else I have made with this gorgeous range.
