Mini Album using Spring Bloom Collection

Hey ho!

Today I’ve got for you all a mini Album tutorial using our beautiful Spring Bloom Collection Kit .

The album is about our trip back to Stoke-on-Trent to visit our friends and Family, this one is about our friends and us.

First I’m going to show what it looks like:

So what do you think?

Ready to make something with me yourself?

Let’s get started!

1. The main thing I concentrate on before I choose any papers etc. is the pictures! So choose the pictures that you are going to put into your mini album (I choose 7 – one to go on the cover and 6 to go inside which means I need 4 pieces of card to make 8 pages).

2. Now we are going to prepare the base using white A4 card (preferably 250GSM). Cut it in half and then into 5.5inch x 5.5inch (14cm x 14cm). You will need four of them (unless you choose more pictures).

3. Let’s choose the papers to go onto the white papers. I’m going to use Spring Bloom Collection Paper Pad. Glue it to the white paper and cut away the extra paper so they still have the same nice 5.5 inch size.

4. Now using a hole puncher punch some holes so we can keep the pages together.

5. Let’s make the cover. Using a nice soft brush and White Gesso let’s make some ‘texture’ on the cover, so it looks nice and bright. Then add some drops of Kaisercolour Acrylic Black Paint , when it dries use some background stamps ( I used Kaisercraft Clear Stamp – Hessian

6. When everything dries we need to glue our picture down to the cover, add some washi tape at the top and the bottom of the picture (choose the colour that you feel will suit your picture). I choose a nice embellishment from my 6×6 paper pad  and to give it a nice finish I added some Yellow Pearls onto the other side of the picture. And we finished making the cover, not so difficult ha? 😉

7. Now I want to to create the rest of the pages using the same ‘technique’. I’m going to show you few more closer pictures with some tips.

7.1. Pearls – they are absolutely beautiful to give a nice touch to the page.

7.2. It’s always nice to add a few bits and bobs + some journaling. I used some Collectables

7.3. Badges and Buttons! They are great to add somewhere around the picture or on it. You can find a beautiful range of them in our store here. Also I added some white gesso onto one ;).

7.4. 3D foam pads + orange twine .  Sometimes notes look better if you make them ‘pop out’ a little bit and add some twine under ;).

Thank you so much for popping in today, I hope you enjoyed this Tutorial.

Smiler (using Spring Bloom)

Hello, it’s Ali here with you to share a new layout of my ‘cutie patootie’ using the stunning new Spring Blooms collection from Kaisercraft.

Now, I know when you first saw this collection you were thinking girlie, but, as always, I am going to prove to you that this is not the case! For me, a great collection is a versatile one, and this is a GREAT collection!!

Seth Main

The predominant colour in Spring Bloom is orange, not your favourite? I bet it soon will be! It is one of the hottest colours to come out of CHA 2014.

I used ‘Blossom’ 12×12 as my background paper and scribbled some orange water colour pencil onto it, blending it slightly with a damp paint brush. I layered up some of the papers from the 6.5″x6.5″ paper pad and then broke open The Collectables; always my favourite part of a collection 🙂

There are the most fabulous bits and bobs within that package!

More tabs from The Collectables and an adorable sticker; one of many on the 12×12 Sticker Sheet.

You may have seen me banging on about the new phrase stamps last month, well I just HAD to buy more! Here is one of them, stamped onto a Captured Moments card. Let me tell you the whole DT is raving about KC’s pocket page line! A little bit of KC twine, as usual (!) and a few hand drawn hearts and this page was done.

Then I looked at all the bits and bobs left on my desk and decided to make a card….this is not a usual occurrence! However, I enjoyed it so much I may make more of an effort in future 😉

I have used a couple of The Collectables, scraps and the black and white tag is from the beautiful stamp set that accompanies the Spring Bloom collection.

Thanks so much for popping in today,

Stamps, stamps glorious stamps!

When Chrissy told us what this month’s challenge was, I jumped for joy! My new phrase stamps had arrived and I couldn’t wait to play!

So out came the heat gun and the embossing powder and I set to work. My idea was inspired by pop art (repetition of image) and also subway art (stacked text) I stamped the phrase six times with embossing ink and alternately embossed the phrases in pink and white. I then ran a paint brush dipped in coral pink ink over the embossed images and the paper.

The circles were die cut from the 6.5″x6.5″ Spring Bloom paper pad. After adding the obligatory flicks and twine I decided that I was pretty much finished. So, I took a photo and then realised the light was not great so I would wait and take more photos.

The layout sat on my desk for a couple of days, and every time I walked into my room I would add another little detail to the layout. So that in the end it looked like this:

There really isn’t an awful lot more added to it but I think it looks more ‘finished’. So what is the difference?

detail 4

I have added a tab from the Spring Blooms Collectables pack and stamped a word onto it. I have used the Numbers Background Stamp and the Lattice Texture Stamp; I didn’t use an acrylic block I just squidged parts of it down with my hands.

detail 2

More stamping and another of the Collectable bits….so sweet and wood veneers from my stash.

And yet another of the gorgeous Collectables!

So you can see, what a difference a little bit of stamping can make to your layout 🙂 Thank goodness for cloudy days!

Thanks for popping in today,
