Family Christmas – Emerald Eve Collection

Hi Everyone,
I love this photo of me and my sisters and brother taken…….well over 45 years ago (I think) we don’t have many photo’s of us when we were young, but I do love this one. The Emerald Eve collection was just perfect to scrap it, the colours matched beautifully.

Products Used: Emerald Eve Collection – P2964 Christmas Pine x 2|P2965 Fir Tree x 2|P2968 Mistletoe Magic x 2|P2970 Emerald Leaves x 2|P2972 Fir Sprigs x 2|

Other Products Used: UCE1729 Gold Pearls|SB713 Pearl Pearls|KM132 Gold Kaisermist. For the wood effect base paper, I used one from my own stash – You can use P2967 Rejoice paper

Here are some brief instructions to create my layout

  1. Cut the Fir Springs paper down to 12 x 12 to form your base.
  2. Cut the Fir Tree paper down to 29.5 x 29.5 cm, mat onto base, leaving only an edge of the base showing on the right hand side and bottom.
  3. Cut the Rejoice paper down to 28.5 x 28.5 cm, mat this onto your layout.
  4. Sew around your layout.
  5. Splatter some gold Kaisermist all over your layout, mostly in the top left hand corner and bottom right hand corner.
  6. Fussy cut lots of elements from Christmas Pine’s & Emerald Leaves papers and the stars from Mistletoe Magic papers.
  7. Mat your 10cm wide x 14cm high photo onto your layout, then arrange all your fussy cut elements around it, in the top left hand corner and bottom right hand corner, use foam pads to give height and dimension. From the other paper, cut some 0.5cm green and gold strips, tuck these around your layout, top left hand corner and bottom right hand corner. Add some gold and pearl pearls to the centre of your stars.

Below are some close ups of the layering, you can also find more on my Instagram page – The Fussy Cutter

I really loved using this collection and hope I have inspired you to create with it also. Please feel free to join the Merly Facebook Group where you can share your creations using our products and where you will see sneak peeks of my kits.

We Just Knew We Were Having Fun with Native Breeze

Hello, Karen here with my first layout using Native Breeze from Kaisercraft.  Now I was a little unsure of this paper range as I thought I would struggle as it is very ‘Australian’ but no – it was a ‘breeze’ (see what I did there) to work with and I was able to make pages that I was really happy with.
We Didn't Realise

I started by spending a happy afternoon cutting all the flowers from two sheets of Wattle Flower, one sheet of Banksia Bouquet and the corresponding paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.  I then had plenty of flowers for my layout with some to spare.

I cut a piece of  the remaining Wattle Flower to six inches tall and added it to the centre of a piece of Ink Weave Kaisercard. next I added a 4 in piece of Pink Protea (mustard side showing) and finally to the centre of this added a 3 in piece of Flowering.  I finished this central strip with rows of stitching to the top and bottom of both the Wattle Flower and Pink Protea.   My 3in x 4in photo was placed centrally onto this.

The flowers cut from Wattle Flower were added to the top left and bottom right of my cardstock with the straight edges aligning to the corners of the page.  I then extended my clusters across the page using some of the flowers I had fussy cut from Banksia Bouquet and the corresponding paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and some leaves and flowers form the Collectables Pack.

Note – the rectangle of paper with hexagons is not from this range but I was using it to decide on my photo size and placement

I added two parrots from the Collectables Pack to the top right and bottom left of my central strips of paper and finished by using the wording from the bottom of the sheet of Pink Protea as my title.

I think that the vibrant pinks and yellows of this range look gorgeous against a black background.

Inspiration for Chrissy’s Virtual Crop Sketch March 28th

Hi Chrissy’s Crafty Challengers,

Karen and Roxanne from the Merly Impressions Design Team have some inspiration for this weeks sketch challenge! We have both had a go at this challenge and here is what we have created:

Karen – I have chosen this sketch from the two Chrissy posted and I have used the Native Breeze collection for this page.

I was amazed how different this page looked to the others I made with this range, just goes to show how versatile Native Breeze is.

Super Star

As you can see I swapped out the hearts for stars and cut double the amount so that I could fold the top ones to give dimension.

Super Star detail 2

I also swapped out the two smaller photos for some journaling, not my handwriting but written with my Silhouette – I wish my handwriting was that neat.

Super Star detail 1

I am really excited to see your versions of this sketch – remember you can flip it, make elements larger or smaller – make your photo larger or smaller (as I have) and add or remove elements.  Just go for it and make it your own x

Roxanne- I decided to go with the sketch that has the large heart, see below. I choose this one because I have many “love” photo’s of me and my fiancé.

Many years ago I bought a lot of the MINT WISHES Collection by Kaisercraft and carted it all the way to Germany with me. So I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to use it! I also found this snow photo that I absolutely adore and thought it suited perfectly. I have titled this layout “Snow Love”.

I had been saving this stunning Uniquely Creative laser cut heart for the perfect project, which just happened to be this one! I have sprayed it with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – WHITE 50ML to make it sparkle.Picture4I have used a large lace in the middle of my punched strip with some ribbon as the central strip from the sketch.

Amongst my stash I found many Die Cut leave and branch pieces, as well as this beautiful circle! I clustered these die cut pieces with the collectables in a similar place to on the sketch.   Picture2

I have also includes some white felt snowflakes and some blue-gray painted wooden snowflakes into my clusters for extra dimension.

Finally, I have embellished with my favourite- RHINESTONES – SILVER.

We hope we have inspired you to have a go at this wonderful challenge ! As Karen said, you can stick strictly to a sketch or you can change it up as much as you like. We saw many gorgeous designs entered into last weeks challenge and hope to see just as many, if not more this week!

Stay home, stay safe and crafts lots!

Together with Native Breeze

Hello, Karen here with my second project using the very colourful Native Breeze collection. For this layout I wanted to focus on all the lovely sentiments from the Southern Sky cut-a-part paper.

I started by gutting a 1 inch frame from the reverse of Gum Leaves. I then trimmed the Native Flock paper down to an 11 in square and adhered this to the Gum Leaves frame.  Finally I added the piece of Gum Leaves that I had gutted from the middle of the frame.  I then used black embroidery thread to stitch around the Native Flock Paper.

Once my stitching was complete, I started to build up my page by adding the four 3in squares from Southern Sky to a piece of red paper, from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, and placing this in the centre of my page. My photos were then added.

I added as many pieces, cut from Southern Sky, to my page as I could fit, choosing the ones that fitted best with my two photos.  To complete this part of my layout I filled in any gaps with word phrases from the Sticker Book and Collectables Pack.

On either side of my central block I added flowers cut from Banksia Bouquet and the corrisponding page from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, using flowers and leaves from the Collectables Pack to fill in any gaps and to extend my clusters at the top and bottom of each spray.

IMG_2798 IMG_2797

For my title I used the word ‘Together’ – from the Collectables Pack along with a geotag at either end and a flower underneath, these were also from the Collectables Pack.

Finally I added two Collectables circles and a curio to the middle of my page.

Using the  Southern Sky cut-a-parts was a lovely way to document two of my favourite family photos.

Wise & Free – Uniquely Creative

Hi Everyone,

Chrissy here sharing a layout I created using the gorgeous “Wise & Free” collection from Uniquely Creative.

Uniquely Creative is an Australian brand that have just started to design their own paper collections. I love the first two ranges they have bought out, “Wise & Free” and  “Urban Garden”, they are perfect for fussy cutting!!!!!! So of course I love them.

Here is my layout I created using Wise and Free

Here are some quick instructions if you want to re-create my layout using the Wise & Free Paper Pack.

1.) Cut a piece of “Snow” Kaisercard down to 12 x 12 to form your base

2.) Cut the “Loved” UCP1906 paper down to 29.5 x 29.5cm, sew down the left hand edge, mat onto your layout.

3.) Cut the “Dream” UCP1902 paper (reverse side) down to 20cm wide x 29.5cm high, sew along the left & right hand edges, mat onto your layout.

4.) Cut a little strip from “Strong” UCP1905 paper spotty side about 5cm wide x 29.5cm high, mat onto your layout towards the left hand side.

5.) I have added a die cut doily border, if you have a punch add a punched border down the left hand side.

6.) Mat your photo onto some spare paper, then mat onto your layout.

7.) Fussy cut the pale flowers from “Fearless” UCP1903 papers & feathers and banners from “Potential” UCP1908. Arrange them around your photo, use foam pads to give some height, add Crystal bling to finish.

Here are some close ups…

Another layout will follow later using the rest of the paper pack.

Living a Creative Life

Hello Everyone,

Today I am sharing a layout that I have created using Kaisercraft’s CRAFTERNOON Collection. I was excited to use this collection! I think it is very versatile and it just perfect to capture and record those creative memories, especially for those photos that are a little more difficult to use with “just any collection”. For this layout I have decided to focus on the greens in this collection which coordinate with the green that I have highlighted in my black and white photo. I really wanted to use this collection to scrapbook this photo of my best friend because she opened my eyes to the world of scrapbooking, before I was only a card maker! I was able to easily use the doily patterns, a lace side punch and paper blooms to make this layout quite elegant to match the photo. This highlights the versatility of this collection.

To create this layout I followed the steps below:

  1. Trim CUT AND PASTE – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION to 30.5 x 30.5 cm. Using TEXTURE PASTE transfer the pattern from QUILTED 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL 1.5 cm from the left-hand side and 4 cm from the right-hand side.
  2. Cut the top of EMBROIDERY – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION at 15 x 30.5 cm and punch both long sides with a decorative punch or border die cut. Stitch from the top to the bottom at ~ 0.5 cm from the punched pattern, on both sides, and one line down the centre in a dark green thread.
  3. Cut a strip of KAISERCARD ANCHOR WEAVE CARDSTOCK 19 x 30.5 cm and another two 3 cm x 30.5, punch the two long sides of the large piece and one side of the thinner pieces with a decorative punch or border die cut. Attach this strip ~4 cm from the left-hand side of the layout.
  4. Cut the the grey, white and green rulers from MEASURED – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION, and the bottom strips from BACK STITCH – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION and DIY – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION20191104_183024
  5. Ink all strips with KAISERINK PAD – SMOKE and an ink blending tool. Layer the strips onto the largest piece of Anchor Cardstock and foam tape ~4.5 cm from the left-hand side of the Cut and Paste background. 20191104_182836
  6. Fussy cut the light green and dark green doilies from CROCHET – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION and from the PAPER PAD – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION. Ink all strips with KAISERINK PAD – SMOKE and an ink blending tool. Layer the doilies in the top left and bottom right corners of the layout.20191104_183256
  7. Take a photo (8.6 x 12.6 cm) and frame with a piece of KAISERCARD ANCHOR WEAVE CARDSTOCK (10.6 x 14.6 cm). Attach framed photo to the middle of the layered section and embellish with more doilies and COLLECTABLES – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION.20191104_183446

Creative Happiness

Hello Everyone,

Today I am sharing a layout that I have created using Kaisercraft’s CRAFTERNOON Collection. I was excited to use this collection! I think it is very versatile and it just perfect to capture and record those creative memories, especially for those photos that are a little more difficult to use with “just any collection”. The photo I have used in this layout is the perfect example, it shows a gorgeous creative moment between an cheeky uncle and his sweet niece. I was able to easily use a more mixed media style for this photo which also complements the busy patterned background paper. The CRAFTERNOON Collection incorporates a great mix of colours, again making it very versatile, and for this layout I have chosen to focus mainly on a peachy orange colour and black to perfectly contrast it.

To create this layout I have followed the instructions below:

  1. Cut DECOUPAGE – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION to 27 x 27 cm. Randomly stamp CLEAR TEXTURE STAMP – GRID in KAISERINK PAD – LICORICE to the middle of the background. Using KAISERCOLOUR PAINT – BLACK 75ML and a wide paint brush randomly paint the middle of the background leaving some of the stamping visible. Distress the edges of the paper using a PAPER DISTRESSER.    20191027_173921
  2. Cut KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK to 30.5 x 30.5 cm. Stitch a frame in peach coloured thread at ~1.5 cm in from the edge. Colour some TEXTURE PASTE with KAISERCOLOUR PAINT – ORANGE 75ML and transfer through a “Paint Splatter” Stencil (or any of your choice) onto the middle of your layout. Use MOUNTING FOAM TAPE to attach the main background of your layout onto the Ink Cardstock.20191027_173825
  3. Take a 10 x 14 cm photo and frame with 11.5 x 15.5 cm piece of KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK. Distress the edges of the paper using a PAPER DISTRESSER. Stitch the frame in peach coloured thread on the edge of the photo. Foam tape photo to the centre of the layout. Embellish the top-right and bottom-left corners of the photo with peach/orange coloured doilies from PAPER PAD – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION and CROCHET – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION. Embellish further with COLLECTABLES – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTIONCURIOS – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION and peach coloured twine. Take the bottom strip from EMBROIDERY – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION, trim to 27 cm and distress the edges of the paper using a PAPER DISTRESSER. Attach this strip to a strip of KAISERCARD INK WEAVE CARDSTOCK with dimensions of 1.3 x 27 cm, that has been distressed. Foam tape these combined strips to a peach colour ruler from MEASURED – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION which has been trimmed to 27 cm and distressed. Attach this combined strip ~0.5 cm from the bottom of the coloured background.  20191027_173710
  4. Embellish the layout with RHINESTONES – BLACK and add some light splattering of KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – BLACK 50ML to the layout.

From Paris with Love

Hello Everyone,

Today I am sharing a layout that I have created using Kaisercraft’s CRAFTERNOON Collection. I was excited to use this collection! I think it is very versatile and it just perfect to capture and record those creative memories, especially for those photos that are a little more difficult to use with “just any collection”. This collection also incorporates a great mix of colours and for this layout I have chosen to focus mainly on the blues and yellows, to help highlight the yellow and blue tones in my photo. This photo is from a recent trip to Paris, I love how the Eiffel Tower sits perfectly on the skyline as though it was drawn there. This shows how the CRAFTERNOON Collection is so versatile that you can even scrapbook travel photos with it!

20191027_183813To create this layout I have followed the instructions below:

  1. Cut DIY – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION to 15.2 x 30.5 cm. Spray one side and partly into the middle of the other side with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – NAVY 50ML. Ink edges using an ink blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – BLUE HAZE. Create stitching holes ~ 0.7 cm from the top and bottom of  the DIY paper, using a SEW EASY STITCH PIERCER. Stitch in yellow thread.20191023_205119
  2.  Cut KAISERCARD SPLASH WEAVE CARDSTOCK to ~20.5 x 30.5 cm, using a side punch on the longer sides to give a decorative edge and ink edges using an ink blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – BLUE HAZE. Create stitching holes ~ 1.2 cm from the top and bottom of the punched pattern, using a SEW EASY STITCH PIERCER. Stitch in yellow thread. Cut KAISERCARD LEMONADE WEAVE CARDSTOCK at ~17.5 x 30.5 cm, using a side punch on the longer sides to give a decorative edge and ink edges using an ink blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – AMBER. Attach DIY paper to the Lemonade Cardstock, foam tape this combination to the Splash Cardstock. 20191023_220246
  3. Trim CRAFTY – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION to 30.5 x 30.5 cm and ink edges with using an ink blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – AMBER. Attach previously prepared and layered section and attache to the middle of the Crafty paper. Take one yellow and one blue ruler from MEASURED – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION, trim to different lengths and ink edges. layer the rulers from the middle to the left of the layout.20191023_221952
  4. Take a photo 13 x 8.5 cm, cut a frame from KAISERCARD SPLASH WEAVE CARDSTOCK at 13.8 x 9.5 cm attach photo with foam tape and a layer of CHEESECLOTH GAUZE in between. Attach photo to the righthand side of the page.  Fussy cut blue and yellow doilies from CROCHET – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION and PAPER PAD – CRAFTERNOON COLLECTION. Layer around rulers and photo. Kaisercraft DT Post – Sparkle

Hi Everyone,

Chrissy here with my first official DT post for Kaisercraft.

For this post I am using the gorgeous “Let It Snow” Kaisercraft collection. The colours in this range are just beautiful and who doesn’t love a bit of foiling. My photo is of my daughter Merley, she loved dressing up at Christmas time in her fairy outfits.IMG_3450-pt-with-banner

Products used: P2803 Delightful|P2805 Snowfall|P2806 Pine Forest|P2809 O’Christmas Tree|P2810 Wonderland|CT968 Collectables|CR214 Curios|KM127 Turquoise Kaisermist|SB775 Aqua Marine Rhinestones. Other products used: DMC Thread|Tiny Star die-cuts

I started by layering up all the papers I wanted to use for my base, cut them to size then added some stitching around the edges using colour coordinating thread. I cut out a circle from the centre and tucked my photo in there just to make sure it looked ok. On reflection I decided to use a larger photo that filled the entire circle.

Now the fun bit……fussy cutting all the embellishments, I fussy cut all the beautiful foiled flourishes from the Wonderland paper, I love that when they are fussy cut they curl up and give that extra dimension on your project.

IMG_3463 (1)

Once all the embellishments have been fussy cut, I like to arrange them around my layout without sticking them down.

IMG_3273 (1)

I also used some of the collectables, these are just brilliant to tuck in and around your layout or project, some are just shapes others having lovely sayings on them. I have also added one of the pretty Curios to my project.

To finish off my layout I have added some rhinestones and tiny star die-cuts.

This is such a beautiful collection, I have enjoyed working with it and hope you do to, I look forward to seeing your creations.

You can find downloadable instructions over on the Kaisercraft blog post.

Happy Crafting,

May 2019 Merly Crop & Kit

Hi Everyone,
What a fabulous May Crop we had yesterday and thank you so very much to everyone who attended and made the day so very special indeed. There was lots of crafting, chatting and a super afternoon tea, Paul’s homemade bread went down well and It was lovely catching up with everyone.

For the kit I used the beautiful “Paisley Days” Kaisercraft collection. Included in the crop kit were detailed instructions and stash to make two layouts.

Below are photo’s of the layouts I created for the kit. Here is the first layout which I’ve called “Life is full of choices” I focused on using the pink, yellow & white papers for this layout. It features lots of intricate fussy cutting (mainly from the Gypsy, paper) stitching and lots of layers. I have used a black & white photo measuring 12cm wide x 10cm high, a coloured photo would also work.

……and here is the second layout which I’ve called: “Believe in your dreams” – for this layout I have focused on using the beautiful teal/blue tones. I have fussy cut the delicate florals and paisley designs, there is also colour coordinating stitching and I have used the paisley embossing folder behind the photo which measures 10cm wide x 13cm high

The kit is now available to purchase in the Merly Impressions on-line shop – it can be found in the Layout Kits section of the website.

I just want to say a massive thank you!!!! to everyone that attended our May crop which made it such a very special day. We look forward to seeing your finished layouts using my kit over on the Merly Crop Facebook page.

Below are a few photo’s of the day.

You can find details and dates of our future crops here. We look forward to seeing you all in September for the next Merly Crop. This is our crop/kit fb page where I add all the sneak peeks leading up to each crop and you can post your finished crop kit layouts to it or any other Kaiser related projects and general chat.

Many thanks,

Happy scrapping!

Hugs – Chrissy
