Double Trouble in Paradise with Sunkissed by Kaisercraft

Hello Merly Impressions fans,

Today I would like to share with you a fun, multi-photo, double layout that I created using the SUNKISSED Collection by Kaisercraft. I went for a fairly simple layout with few layers this time, however I add a little bit of fun mixed media. This is the perfect layout practice mixed media with because most of the back ground is covered in photos and any mistakes with it! Or if you love the background, you can simply use less photos. I have tried to capture a weekend trip to Palma, Mallorca, with this layout.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture1

To create this double layout I have used the instructions below:

  1. Take two sheets of KAISERCARD SNOW WEAVE CARDSTOCK and cut into three pieces 27.5, 24 and 4 cm wide and all 24 cm high.
  2. Take the smallest piece and add a leaf pattern by inking though TROPICAL LEAVES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL, using an ink blending tool with KAISERINK PAD – FOREST and KAISERINK PAD – BLUE HAZEMIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture2
  3. Apply Distress Oxide- Lucky Clover, Distress Oxide- Mermaid Lagoon and Distress Ink- Peacock Feathers to an INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET, spray with some water. Dip paper into the ink, repeat until you are happy with how it looks.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture3
  4. Take the two larger SNOW pieces and tape together behind. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on this larger section. MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture4
  5. Splatter with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – NAVY 50ML.
  6. Take two sheets of MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and trim off the bottom strips. From the centre of one, cut out a piece to use as a 11 x 14.1 cm photo frame for later. Tape MOJITO’s together create a double layout size. Using a rounded corner punch, punch the outside corners of the inked SNOW page and the double MOJITO. Adhere SNOW to MOJITO.
  7. Take the pre-prepared 4 cm SNOW strip and adhere to the left side of the layout. To the centre of this strip adhere the bottom strips from DAQUIRI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTIONFOAM TAPE the bottom strip from MOJITO – SUNKISSED COLLECTION onto the top of the other bottom strips.MIDT2020-03 Sunkissed Collection by Kaisercraft-Double Trouble in Paradise- Picture5
  8. Cut leaves from LEMON LIME – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and foam tape the section of three leaves together to the left side of the layout and the large single leaf to the bottom right.
  9. Prepare 4 photo mats with dimensions of 10.7 x 10.7 cm from the zig-zag and green spotted sheets from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED. Adhere 4 photos with dimensions of 9.8 x 9.8 cm. Adhere the 4 matted photos to the centre of the layout.
  10. Take pre-prepared photo frame from Step 6, adhere to photo (10 x13 cm) and adhere to the right side on the layout on top of the large leaf.
  11. Take the leaves (with same shape as in Step 9) from the COLLECTABLES – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and cut them from the PAPER PAD – SUNKISSED COLLECTION and TUTTI FRUTTI – SUNKISSED COLLECTION. Tuck and glue them under various photo corners.

So Blessed with Kaisercraft’s Lily and Moss Collection

Hello Lovely Craft Friends,

The LILY AND MOSS Collection is just perfect for simple, but bold and contrasting layouts such as this one I have created here. I have used a lovely black and white wedding photo as the focus and main colours of this layout. I have then added a flare of pink. I have even slipped in some of my favourite mixed media techniques. Kaisercraft’s LILY AND MOSS Collection is just perfect if you wish to use a black and white photos or if one if your favourite colours is pink!

Picture 1- So Blessed Lily and Moss Collection

To create this lovely layout, I have followed these steps:

  1. Trim CHALKY – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION to 30.5 x 30.5 cm and stamp in KAISERINK PAD – COTTON CANDY the CLEAR STAMP – LATTICE pattern randomly from the top to the bottom of the left side of the layout and horizontally through the centre.
  2. Apply Tim Holtz Oxide Ink- Black Soot to INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET and spritz with some water. Lay your layout into the liquid in a way that you introduce the black ink to the area you have stamped. It is really nice to see that the black ink takes to the pink ink and adopts the pattern of the stamp in some areas.
  3. After the ink is dry, blend 2 cm edge of KAISERINK PAD – COTTON CANDY on edges of the layout using an ink blending tool and INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET. Followed by a light edge inking in KAISERINK PAD – LICORICEPicture 2- So Blessed Lily and Moss Collection Picture 3- So Blessed Lily and Moss Collection
  4. Mix a little bit of  TEXTURE PASTE and KAISERCOLOUR PAINT – CANDY 75ML, then apply over the black inked parts of your layout, through the TINY TRIANGLES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCILPicture 4- So Blessed Lily and Moss Collection
  5. Take a black and white photo with a white border that measures 11.8 x 8.1 cm. Then mat it with a pink sheet from the PAPER PAD – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION with dimensions of 8.7 x 12.5 cm. Use MOUNTING FOAM TAPE to adhere matted photo to a piece of KAISERCARD COAL WEAVE CARDSTOCK measuring 9.4 x 13.4 cm. Add another layer with a white and black sheet from the PAPER PAD – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION with dimensions of 10.5 x 15.3 cm.
  6. Take another pink and a white and black sheet from the PAPER PAD – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION and trim to 6 x14.5 cm and layer behind the layered photo with one slightly higher and the other slightly lower. Add two strips of punched KAISERCARD COAL WEAVE CARDSTOCK 10 cm long and a few stickers from the STICKER BOOK – LILY AND MOSS COLLECTION. Adhere layered photo to the middle of left side of the page. Picture 5- So Blessed Lily and Moss Collection

Exploring the Beach with Uncharted Waters

Hi Everyone,

I have created this busy, beachy, technique filled, double layout using the lovely UNCHARTED WATERS collection by Kaisercraft. This collection is gender neutral, making it perfect for all beach themed photos. I just love this collection with all the shells, beach creatures and boat related items! Since blue is my favourite colour, I love this collection for its colours too and because it is very suitable to co-ordinate in those mixed media effects. I thoroughly enjoyed incorporating oxide inks, background stamping, texture pasting, fussy-cutting, paper ripping and cheesecloth tucking techniques in this project!

Explore the Beach with Uncharted Waters 8

To create this layout I followed the steps below:

  1. Create a background using 2 pieces of KAISERCARD IVORY PREMIUM CARDSTOCK cut down to 30.5 x 30.5 cm and randomly stamping the ship’s  wheel from the CLEAR STAMPS – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION in KAISERINK PAD – CHOCOLATE over the layout.

  2. Use an INKSSENTIALS CRAFT SHEET or baking paper for background inking techniques and a mix of blue Distress Oxide and RANGER DISTRESS INK PADS. Using the oxide inks first, take the darkest and smear it in a line on the craft sheet spray water on top of the ink. Take the ivory card stock and dip it in the watery ink, turn over and dry using a craft heat gun or hair dryer. Apply the rest of the ink and repeat drying. Excess ink can be removed using a wet cloth. Explore the Beach with Uncharted Waters 2
  3. Repeat with each colour, layer over the previous and adding the Distress Ink last
Explore the Beach with Uncharted Waters 3
  4. Tape the two Ivory sheets with home-made background together to create a double sized layout. Cut two 6.5 cm strips of STREAK – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and adhere to the two short sides of the layout. Cut a 14 cm strip from the bottom of TIDE POOL – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION slowly and gently rip this strip in half diagonally using your hands. Attach one piece to the top left and the other to the bottom right of the layout. Take the left over strip of TIDE POOL – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and also rip it diagonally and tuck each piece under the other corner pieces to create a layered effect.
Explore the Beach with Uncharted Waters 4
  5. Take HOOK – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and hand rip different sized pieces. Layer these pieces under the wooden sections on the top and bottom of the layout.
Explore the Beach with Uncharted Waters 5
  6. Fussy cut the two middle ropes from SEA SHORE – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION, cut in half and foam tape next to each other over the two STREAK – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION sections of the layout, ~0.5 cm apart. Take a sheet of CHEESECLOTH GAUZE and colour with KAISERMIST SPRAY INK – GOLD SHIMMER 50ML, allow to dry and then cut into strips to tuck under the ripped layers. Also use this coloured cheesecloth to matt the photos. I have used three 9.5 x 13.4 cm photos and tucked them under the ripped sections.

  7. Fussy cut the crabs and shells from OCEANIC – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and embellish layout. Embellish with CURIOS – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and stickers from the STICKER BOOK – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION
Explore the Beach with Uncharted Waters 7
  8. Transfer the pattern of BUBBLES 6X6 DESIGNER STENCIL onto the wooden sections of the layout using TEXTURE PASTE. Further embellish layout with more stickers from the STICKER BOOK – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION and COLLECTABLES – UNCHARTED WATERS COLLECTION.

Documented school Scrapbook Layout

Good morning all

Thanks for joining us here today on the Merly Impressions blog. Today I have pleasure in bringing you a layout using the lovely warm toned collection, Documented.

IMG_2064This wonderful collection is just perfect for school photos and I have more than a few of those lurking around just waiting to be scrapbooked.. I’m sure you do too and this is the perfect collection to do just that!

To create this layout, I first took the Documented collection and I took the Scrap Paper sheet as the background. I then took a 10″ square of Coffee Bean Kaisercard  and a 9″piece of the reverse side of the Locker paper and matted it as so. I also punched small pieces of the edge of the Locker paper with a ledger punch.

IMG_2058IMG_2055Then I took a Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Ink Pad, a mini Ranger Ink Pad in Tea Dye and the Kaisercraft Vintage Ink Pad and layered them using the packaging technique. To do this I inked a piece of plastic packaging and sprayed with water using a mini mister. I then took the wet, inky packaging and ‘placed’ it on the Locker Paper on the left hand side.

Once dried I took the Documented Clear Stamp Set and stamped some of the rulers and the world on the background. I also used an old “Class of ’87’ Kaisercraft stamp set for the Star Student stamp together with a Tim Holtz stamp set for the film strip.

IMG_2061I then used strips from the Documented Sticker Sheet  and stuck them in a random fashion over the inked, stamped area and used the Discover sticker as the title. I also cut some strips of grey and silver checked paper from the 6.5″ paper pad. I then took pieces of Notebook Ledger paper and cut small pieces and punched them using a ledger punch and layered them beneath the photos using both sides of the paper. (The eagle eyed among you will have noticed I originally used two photos, then changed my mind and used three..lol)

IMG_2067I inked each of the pieces of the Ledger Paper using the Vintage ink Pad too. Once I was happy with the composition I added lots of collectables from the Documented collectable pack and some more stamping using the Clear Stamp Set and some more stickers from the sticker sheet.

IMG_2070

IMG_2065

IMG_2068Beneath the clusters I added a swirl of Copper hemp cord and I cut individual letter J’s from the Ledger sheet as my Sons name is Jason..but everyone calls him ‘J’.

IMG_2066The journalling block is from the collectables pack and I used another piece of sticker sheet for the ruler and aded more collectables too. I also used some of the ledger punched pieces to tuck into the clusters.

Thanks for popping by today. I do hope the layout will inspire you to try the packaging technique for yourself. Merly Impressions do have lots to choose from!

Have fun!

High Tea Scrapbook Layout

Hi there

Elaine here again, this time with a pretty layout using the High Tea collection showcasing the co-ordinating Clear Texture Doily stamp.
imageTo start with I took the High Tea wood effect Biscuit paper from the collection and added a circle of small doilies that I stamped using the Tim Hotz Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. I also mixed some of the ink into Texture paste to colour it and stencilled a rectangle using the Mini Mix Designer Stencil and the pre-coloured texture paste.

imageWhilst this was drying I fussy cut the coffee pot from the High Tea Cuppa Paper and several flowers and leaves from the Devonshire High Tea Paper until I had enough to arrange around the photograph. I then took more pieces of the Cuppa Paper and layered them behind the photo, raising the picture up on foam pads for dimension. I also stamped another small doily and heat embossed it, tucking it in amongst the fussy cut elements at the top of the picture.

imageI then took lots of die cuts from the High Tea collectables pack and the  6.5″ paper pad and I punched some tiny hearts from scraps of paper too and placed them around the circle of stamped doilies. For each of the flowers and leaves, I curled them around my fingers to give them a slightly more curved/natural look. The title to the left of the picture was a strip from the High Tea coordinating 6.5″ paper pad.

imageTo finish off I used pearls from my stash in each of the small doilies and I used the tag from a cupcake I had been given at the Afternoon Tea Bridal Shower that I was attending when the photo was taken.

It’s such a pretty collection..don’t you agree?

Scrapbook Layout using Pawfect collection

Hi Everyone

Elaine here bringing you another layout using the wonderful collection, Pawfect, which is oh so cute and just perfect for all your pet photos.

imageTo start I used the Duck Egg Weave Cardstock as my base adding the chevron Pawsome paper as a background and layering the plaid Puppy paper . I punched paw prints using a Fiskars punch on the top and bottom edges and then mixed some Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap distress ink into some texture paste to darken it slightly and used the Rough Grid Mini Stencil to create dimension and texture.

imageI then took another piece of the Pawsome Paper and matted it onto the same card and did the same with the Puppy Bone paper and layered them behind the photo along with two small, matted pieces of Pawsome text paper.

I then took the Pawfect sticker sheet and added the row of paw prints, the saying ‘All you need is love and a dog’, and all the dog themed ‘tickets’ and  added the matted photo on top. I then added the two curly stickers down either side.

imageOnce the the photo was in place I die cut arrows and hearts from the Burlap 6″ paper stack and several of the collectables pack to finish.

What a great collection for either dog or cat lovers. I hope this has inspired you to join in!

Have fun

Ubud Dreams Mini Album

Today I am pleased to be bringing you this Mini-album made using the newly released, yet ever so popular, Ubud Dreams Kaisercraft collection.

imageTo begin with I made the cover by taking two evenly sized pieces of card (any size you would like to make would be ideal but I chose 5″ X 7″ for mine)  and a smaller piece and then covering them with plain paper.

imageI then inked the plain paper with Lagoon Kaiser Ink.

I next covered the front with the reverse of the Mandala paper from the collection and Sekar paper on the back.  I then added die cuts from the collectables pack. I also coloured one of the mandalas in from the pack using  Kaisercraft gel glitter pens to give it a jewel like finish and added a strip of Natural lace to the front securing it beneath the patterned paper on the back of the front cover.

imageI then made two pockets to fit on the inside of the front cover and constructed double sided pages adherred to the rear of the cover leaving pockets for photo tags.

imageI embellished these using appropriate sayings from the sticker sheet. I am planning on using this album to record my before and after photos of my new home that I should be moving in to next month so some of the sayings were very appropriate..especially as this is my 17th move! ‘Life is not meant to be lived in one place’ after all said and done! Lol

The following images show some of the the highlights of the pages.

image

imageI also made double sided tags from the 6.5 x 6.5″ paper pad for the pockets using lots of die cuts, from the collectables pack, cut in half and layering them back to back for tabs to pull the tags out and I decorated each one with lengths of stickers from the useful sticker sheet.

image

imageOn several pages I used the Mini-Mix Designer Stencils to decorate the pages and yet more stickers and collectables

image imageFinally, on the front cover, I used Ranger Texture Paste through the same stencil to add texture adding a pearl in the centre of some of the flowers together with some further stencilling using the Tim Holtz Mesh stencil.

Finally I added some Iceberg mini blooms beneath the die cut window and added some die cut leaves from my own supplies along with a few more stickers both inside and on the back cover.

image….now all I have to do is create the ‘after’ photos to add to the album along with my ‘before’ photos I already have.
