Why wait for February?

Hi everybody! I am an hopeless romantic and there is one thing I don’t understand: why should we wait for February to tell our other half (or anybody else if you don’t have one…) that you love them? Even a family member? Well, I love designing “I love you” cards and decided to share one with you!

And here is a little step by step of how to recreate the look:

1: Add a few black splashes to a white card.

2: Stamp a flourish image from the Twig and Berry set.

3: Add a strip of washi tape.

4: Mount a tag from the In the attic paper pad onto your card with foam pads. I also added a little bit of twine.

5: glue some paper blooms in sage, terracotta and fire red.

6: Add some tags from the sticker sheet.

7: Stamp your sentiment.

There you go! A quick and easy card to let your loved ones know how you really feel about them!

I hope this inspired you!

Those little things

Hi everybody! I am back with a layout!

Some of you might know that 2013 has been eventful for me so far and I am now back on the single market… Why do I tell you that I hear you say? Well, this kind of has put a spanner in the works scrapbooking wise as I don’t have as many things to talk about anymore… I had to find new subjects to document! What do you scrap about when you don’t have kids, partners, close by family, pets… Well you scrap about yourself and all those little things that bring a smile to your face on a daily basis… There is only so many pictures of me I can scrap before I bore you to death so I decided to try and scrap about random things I would have overlooked in the past…

And this is where this layout comes in the mix:

I decided to talk about a new bracelet I bought. Nothing fancy, available on the high street but I thought, hey, why not, maybe in 10 years time I will be looking at this layout and thinking “oh yeah I remember this!”, bringing a smile to my face…

The In the attic collection worked perfectly with the colours of my photograph. I loved layering the papers! It made this layout so quick and easy to design! I also incorporated some stickers and a bloom to add details.

I hope this inspired you to scrap about those little everyday things!

Merly Impressions August Challenge

Hi Everybody! Time flies so quickly and we are at the 15th already, our monthly rendez-vous for some challenging fun!

As I haven’t done it for a while, I have decided to challenge you with a sketch! I know you love them, so here it is:

Cool one isn’t it? We want to see how this sketch inspires you! You can flip it, turn it, resize it, make it yours but we still want to recognise it in your layouts. To inspire you and give you some ideas, here is what the gorgeous Merly DT did with it:

Ali Parris

Love Makes You Beautiful

I decided to rotate the sketch and layer up (of course!) all the lovely Sweet Pea papers and collectables. I just adore this collection!! I used some white Kaisercraft card to cut my title on the Silhouette….you really can’t beat it! The rub ons, stickers and stamps are fabulous, so they all make an appearance on the page! Gorgeous sketch, gorgeous product and my gorgeous girls :0)

Linda Iswariah

Curiosity 01

I used stamps from the Enchanted Garden on the background with some ink running vertically inspired by the sketch. I love the possibilities with stamps when creating a background! There are also patterned paper and rubon text from the same collection. When I first saw the Enchanted Garden collection my first thought was to document my children exploring the nature! And here we go – it is my one year old’s cute little chubby hand reaching out to the plant.

Emilia van den Heuvel

Our Precious

I used Lavendar Haze collection from Kaisercraft. I used the paper pack and the Collectables pack to embellish my page.  For my background I used modeling paste, masking template and Kaisercraft clear background stamp Bubble Wrap. I used Tim Holtz “Broken China” and “Peeled Paint”.

I can’t wait to see your entries! Have fun!

Please add your creation to the gallery below before the challenge closes at 1:00pm on 12th September 2013. We will then choose our favourite layout to win a fantastic prize – a £25.00 voucher to spend on anything you want from the Merly Impressions online store. Wow!

Making it special…

So I went back home for a week and half to spend my summer holidays and as always I was pulled from every sides to catch-up with friends and family as well as to attend special dos. One of those special dos was my mum’s best friend’s special birthday. I didn’t want to come empty handed so bought her a little piece of jewellery but as a crafter I thought it would be cool to make this gift all that little bit more special by wrapping it in a unique and special little box.

I made this little cutie with some of the “Musk” sheet and some of the “Wall flower” sheet all from the Porcelain Rose collection. I embellished it with two tags from the collectable pack from the same collection as well as some paper blooms in fire red and olive as well as some of those gorgeous sparklets (those blingy beauties are definitely become one of my must haves!!!).

All I can say is that my mums friend was very pleased with her gift and I was proud to be able to give something that had that extra “je ne sais quoi!”.

I hope this inspired you and see you soon around for even more exciting projects!

Challenge inspiration

We are having an amasing summer this year! So much sunshine! This s why I am not surprised that our monthly challenge is quieter than normal. I mean, during the day we all prefer to be enjoying the heat outdoors and in the evening mr Mojo isn’t especially here to help us get started on a project… So, as a little bit of help for the last few days of this challenge here is my version of the theme.

For me, summer time is the best moment to catch-up with my friends so here is my layout, all about spending time with my friends:

I spent an amazing two days of crafting with my friend Karen just before flying off to France and ended-up taking this shot and creating this layout during that time. I used the stunning Porcelain Rose collection (my favourite so far this year!) and embellished-it with some paper blooms and sparklets. So I hope that this inspires you to enter our challenge here before the 12th of August! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

A thoughtful card with Porcelain Rose

Hi everybody! I am here to share another card! There is always a time when we need to send a card to a friend when they need a little “pick me up” or at least to know that they are in our thoughts. Well this card is just one of those.

I thought what is better than use the delectable “Porcelain Rose” collection for the job! The colours are bright and would definitely cheer-up anyone.

I added a few blooms in Olive, Coconut and Fire red on top of a cut out rectangle from the Dearest sheet on top of my stamped background.

IMG_9486I then finished it off with a layering of collectables and a few gorgeous gems in Royal blue.

I hope this inspired you!

Product Focus July 2013 – Part 3

Hello and welcome back to the third and last part of this month’s product focus dedicated to the Porcelain Rose Collectables and Rub-ons.

What better with this collection but to create a “Love” card? I really enjoyed designing this one! I used the Music Sheet clear stamp to create my background, added a rectangle from the “Dearest” sheet to then finish it off with blooms in Coconut, Olive and Fire Red as well some sparklets in Royal Blue.

I hope this trilogy inspired you to use your Collectables and Rub-ons to create some lovely cards!

Product Focus July 2013 – Part 2

Welcome back to our second part of this months Product Focus! So this month we are focussing on the Collectables and the Rub-ons from the Porcelain Rose collection. This collection was just made for me! I often fall into the traps of fashion and end-up buying products that I then struggle to use while staying true to my style. I know have kind of a mental check-list in order to help me decide if a collection will work for me: is it bright? Has it got white (I am not a fan of cream)? Will it work with black? Is it a bit shabby/ feminine?

This list guides me but I do try to keep an open mind and go out of my comfort zone as lately the Hopscotch collection surprised me by becoming one of my favourite!

IMG_9564I added a paper bloom in coconut and two small flowers in fire red. I then finished it off with one gorgeous Sparklet! I hope this inspired you!

Product Focus July 2013 – Part 1

Once upon a time I fell in love… With the Porcelain Rose collection that is! This collection is absolutely stunning and I had to have it!!! So when I had to choose a product to create my three projects for the “Product focus” feature, I decided to use the gorgeous collectables as well as the Rub-ons.

IMG_9568I used the rub-ons to add the “love” words in the background and then I layered the frame and the flowers and bird from the pack of collectables. I finished it all with the gorgeous Sparklets. Gosh I love this royal blue colour! I hope this inspired you!

Merly Impressions Retreat: A card class

Hello everybody! Let me tell you, I have just come back from the Merly Impressions retreat and I am still buzzing with excitement!!! I had so much  fun and met some amazing people!

Chrissy and I had a surprise class up our sleeve and had planned a simple and informal card class. I was overwhelmed with the response from the delegates! During the class, everybody was able to create three gorgeous cards following a few tips and guidelines to reproduce my designs but still making them “their own”! I was gobsmacked with the sheer talents present and I too have learned immensely as well as have been inspired by brand new ideas.

So let me show you the cards I designed during this class:

As a base kit everybody had three cards and envelopes, four tags from the First Love sheet of the Secret Admirer collection,  a few blooms in Sea Breeze, Hot Pink and Grape as well as some gorgeous sparklets in Sea Breeze, Crimson and Coral.

For this card I decided to use the Arty Background stamp do add drama.

For this card I decided to create an explosion of colours with distress stains in Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves as well as adding a little “Je ne sais quoi” to the flowers by blinging them with some Antiqued Bronze stain. I also added a bit of detail with the lacy stamp from the Miss Match set.

For this last card I went for the Check-in stamp as my background and some splashes of Picked Raspberry stain.

I had a lot of fun designing those cards and I hope I was able to inspire you to get creative with just a few bits of stash!
