Baby Photo Album with Fairy Land

Hi everyone,
Today I would like to share the biggest project that I have created since joining the Merly Impressions Design Team! It is this beautiful album that I have decorated with the gorgeous Fairy Land Collection by ScrapBoys and I have used every single page of this collection for this project. Many of you may recognise this album as it is from the 2017 Merly Impressions Retreat! I know many of you will probably still have them to be used. So here is some inspiration for what you can do with them (3 years later!). I created this album as a gift for an unborn baby so I couldn’t add the photo’s yet but I know the parents like to take many photo’s so I know it is the perfect gift that will be filled up quickly!

To begin with I decorated the outside because I found doing so many pages at once was too over whelming! So I started by preparing a front, back and side strip with KAISERCARD ORCHID WEAVE CARDSTOCK. Under this layer I glued (and taped) three ribbons with different thicknesses so the album could be tied closed. Then a second layer of patterned paper where the front and back were from FAIRY LAND – PAPER 03 and the side strip I made from FAIRY LAND – PAPER 01.

After this step, the back was complete so I focused next on the side where I took a wooden letter E, painted it purple and covered the top surface in DISTRESS STICKLES – DUSTY CONCORD. Once the letter was dry I glued it to the side of the album and left it dry.

To decorate the front, I cut a photo matt from white cardboard and stamped the Toadstools from CLEAR STAMPS – ENCHANTED COLLECTION in Perfect Medium and applied the white Perfect Pearls. I have also included a SCRAPFX CHIPBOARD fairy that I painted in DISTRESS STICKLES – DUSTY CONCORD and DISTRESS STICKLES – BUNDLED SAGE. Next I fussy cut the elements from FAIRY LAND – PAPER 01, FAIRY LAND – PAPER 04 and FAIRY LAND – PAPER 07, and added them to the front and side, along with RHINESTONES – SILVER and WHITE ZIG WINK OF STELLA BRUSH MARKER. Lastly, I added some DISTRESS STICKLES – BUNDLED SAGE grass along the bottom of the front and added the name from painted wooden letters from in my craft stash.

Next I moved into the inside covers where I made pockets to store tags with photo’s and notes. I have gone for the animal pairs from FAIRY LAND – PAPER 07 as features for these pockets and more Perfect Pearl toadstools.

Next I moved on to doing the pages of the book, for those that haven’t seen this album before it comes with already made pages so I have just gone ahead and decorated them with the same Fairy Land theme from as the covers.

For the first page I focused on a purple theme with FAIRY LAND – PAPER 01, as the main background and have included a panel for a 7.5 x 5 cm (small) photo. I have embellished the page with some CHEESECLOTH GAUZE and a painted Uniquely Creative laser cut word.

For the second set of pages I have gone for a green theme, using KAISERCARD DEW DROP WEAVE CARDSTOCK and FAIRY LAND – PAPER 01 with one small photo square and two tags. On the tags I have used an ink blending tool and KAISERINK PAD – SPEARMINT through the STARS MINI DESIGNER STENCIL.

For the next set of pages I have selected purple as the main colour focussing on FAIRY LAND – PAPER 02 and FAIRY LAND – PAPER 06 with one small photo on the right page and a series of manual flip photos on the left hand side. The Flip photo section can hold up to 5 large portrait photos (just smaller than 10.2 x 15.4 cm) is tied down with a green bow on each side.

I have created this set of paged with contrasting colours compared to the rest of the album using KAISERCARD OATMEAL WEAVE CARDSTOCK and KAISERCARD MAROON PREMIUM CARDSTOCK. I was inspired by another project I created with this collection which focuses on the flowers from FAIRY LAND – PAPER 04. I just couldn’t help but bring it in here too. There is space for one 4 x 6 cm photo on each page.

For the last set of double pages I have gone back to the main purple theme but have included a fancy mechanism mini flip album the right page which is better viewed in a video that I will shared on my Roxii’s Craft Studio Instagram and Facebook accounts. The page on the left has a simple pocked with punched edges and two removable tags. The main paper inspiring this set of pages was FAIRY LAND – PAPER 05.

Lastly, I created the final page to match the first single page of the album with FAIRY LAND – PAPER 01 as the main background. I have used the MINI BACKGROUND STAMP – TEXT and MINI INK PAD – ORCHID to create the stamped background for these pages.

There is also a secret pocket space on the edge of each page for more tags which i have created from left over pieces of the album. I have also added some texture paste rhinestones, laser cut words into the album, as well as lots of Perfect Pearling, stencilling, stamping and edge inking too.

I hope I have inspired you to have a play with this gorgeous collection or with your old retreat album!
Stay safe and keep crafting!

Twist and Pop Mini Album with Uncharted Waters.

Hello, Karen here with my second project using Uncharted Waters.  I was really excited to see if I could make a mini album using the instructions here for making a twist and pop card.

I started by cutting a piece of Kaisercraft Snow Weave card into three 12in x 4in pieces to use as my card bases.  I covered the inside of each card with a piece of paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and then made the internal mechanism, using thin white card, as in the instructions above.   The cards were stuck one on top of the other to make a stack of three.  I turned the stack around to make my album landscape rather than portrait and began to decorate it.

I used two pieces of paper from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad to cover the front and back of my album. I then added some stickers from the Sticker Book and some Collectables, a curio,  finishing off with a phrase strip from the bottom of one of the papers.

I decorated my pages with some pieces of paper and pop outs from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad, stickers from the sticker book and a phrase from the Shallows 12 x 12 paper.

My other two pages were decorated in the same way.

I really enjoyed constructing this project and adding photos from when my daughter got engaged earlier in the year. I am going to give it to my mum as a little extra Christmas present.

Easy Peasy Mini Album with Crafternoon

Hello, Karen here with my second project using Kaisercraft’s Crafternoon collection.  On my last project I focussed on using the elements from the range that related to sewing and for my mini-album I am focussing on using the elements that relate to scrapbooking.

I decided to make a mini-album to showcase some of my favourite layouts and wanted to make it as quickly and easily as possible.  After going through my stash I found some 4 x 4 greetings cards and decided these would be perfect for my little project.

I have made an instructional video showing how easy it is to make this little book which would be perfect for so many other themes rather than just a mini scrapbook.

For my front cover I used Snow and Lemonade weave cardstock, the reverse of Decoupage 12  x 12 paper, a 2in x 2in phrase from DIY paper and two phrases from the corresponding page in the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad.

To cover my pages I have mostly used papers from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad but have supplemented these with squares cut from Cut and Paste, DIY  and Measured. To decorate my book I have used stickers from the Sticker Book the Collectables pack and elements cut from both the DIY  paper and the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad .

I hope I have inspired you to give this little mini-album a go!  I was so inspired by the possibilities available with this very pretty range that I have already made my third project and am planning more with the bits and bobs I have left over.

Afternoon Tea with Fleur

Hello everyone,

Denise here with my third project using the Fleur Kaisercraft collection. My brief was to make a 3d project so I decided to make a little fold up book. These are not new and you can find instructions on the internet, but I will explain how to make it in this post.

IMG_1036 resized-banner

Using White  Kaisercard  cut three 15cm squares and Ballet cardstock cut two 8cm squares. Make sure the squares are accurate so that the book folds neatly.

Take the three white squares and fold each one in half  widthways then fold again lengthways and open out.

Next, fold diagonally just once then line the three squares up as shown below with the diagonal line going vertically and one corner square of each overlapping the next one. Apply glue to the three overlapping squares and stick together.

Now pinch the top horizontal folds inwards, the middle outwards and bottom inwards then press the top and bottom squares down flat.IMG_0876 IMG_0877

Stick the pink squares to the top and bottom squares as the covers. Now the book is made, time to decorate it with your photos and papers.

I used papers from the  6.5 x 6.5  paper pad  and stickers from the Sticker Sheet  and Collectables Pack  to decorate together with photographs. The triangles were made from  7cm squares that are cut in half diagonally. My photos were also 7cm square ( I cut mine down from ones that measured 6×4 inches )

This is a really cute little book and quite effective when folded and opened. Once you get the idea you could adapt it as a larger one too.

I really enjoyed making this and hope you like it !

Matchbook Mini Album with Pen and Ink

Karen here with my last project, this month using Pen and Ink.  For this project I have made a little matchbook photo folder using the 6.5 x 6.5 pad for photos of my daughter’s puppy to give to her when she comes home for the weekend soon.

I started with four 6 x 4 kraft cards and cut them down to 3.5 ins square.  These formed the basis of my folder.  I cut one in half along the fold.

To join my cards together I cut the front from an envelope and cut four 1 in x 3.5 in pieces, scoring these length-ways at .5 ins.  To make the pockets use the folded strips to join the cut down cards, starting with one of the ones you cut in half, then the three folded cards and finally the last one that has been cut in half.  When you have finished you should have a long strip of cards.  In the photo below I have added the paper from the step below but pulled it off again as I decided to add it later.

Next, using the front of an envelope, cut eight pieces of paper measuring 3.5 ins tall, with the top measuring 2 ins and the bottom measuring 1 in.  Score each piece down the centre, turn over and score .5 in from each side.

With the folds of the cards uppermost, make pockets by sticking the scored pieces along the edge of each of the cards.

From your 6.5 inch pad cut eight pieces of paper 3.25ins square and add to the inside of the pockets.

From a piece of Mocha cardstock, cut a piece 10ins x 4ins and score at 1.5ins, 2ins, 5.75 and 6.25 and fold to make a matchbook style cover for your project.  Using red tape, attach the pockets to the centre of the two squares of your cover. Use a corner rounder on the two corners of the flap.

I cut four ‘Bingo Cards’  from the 6.5 x 6.5 pad and mounted these onto the remaining piece of Mocha cardstock.  I popped these into the pockets and will add a photo on the front and back.

Finally, I used pieces of the beautiful gloss butterfly paper from the pad on my cover and cut one of the large butterflies from the Antiques paper.  Finally, I added a scallop border and a phrase from the sticker sheet.  To close my little booklet I used a black elastic hair fastener.

Ubud Dreams Mini Album

Today I am pleased to be bringing you this Mini-album made using the newly released, yet ever so popular, Ubud Dreams Kaisercraft collection.

imageTo begin with I made the cover by taking two evenly sized pieces of card (any size you would like to make would be ideal but I chose 5″ X 7″ for mine)  and a smaller piece and then covering them with plain paper.

imageI then inked the plain paper with Lagoon Kaiser Ink.

I next covered the front with the reverse of the Mandala paper from the collection and Sekar paper on the back.  I then added die cuts from the collectables pack. I also coloured one of the mandalas in from the pack using  Kaisercraft gel glitter pens to give it a jewel like finish and added a strip of Natural lace to the front securing it beneath the patterned paper on the back of the front cover.

imageI then made two pockets to fit on the inside of the front cover and constructed double sided pages adherred to the rear of the cover leaving pockets for photo tags.

imageI embellished these using appropriate sayings from the sticker sheet. I am planning on using this album to record my before and after photos of my new home that I should be moving in to next month so some of the sayings were very appropriate..especially as this is my 17th move! ‘Life is not meant to be lived in one place’ after all said and done! Lol

The following images show some of the the highlights of the pages.

imageI also made double sided tags from the 6.5 x 6.5″ paper pad for the pockets using lots of die cuts, from the collectables pack, cut in half and layering them back to back for tabs to pull the tags out and I decorated each one with lengths of stickers from the useful sticker sheet.

imageOn several pages I used the Mini-Mix Designer Stencils to decorate the pages and yet more stickers and collectables

image imageFinally, on the front cover, I used Ranger Texture Paste through the same stencil to add texture adding a pearl in the centre of some of the flowers together with some further stencilling using the Tim Holtz Mesh stencil.

Finally I added some Iceberg mini blooms beneath the die cut window and added some die cut leaves from my own supplies along with a few more stickers both inside and on the back cover.

image….now all I have to do is create the ‘after’ photos to add to the album along with my ‘before’ photos I already have.

Mini Book with Ubud Dreams

Good morning everyone,

Denise here with my first project using the divine Ubud Dreams Kaisercraft Collection. What a gorgeously interesting collection this is.

017I made a mini album to keep for me to as a special reminder of one of our son’s weddings last year. The colours of the papers were perfect for the wedding photos .

I started by using a piece of kraft card which I folded in half then folded the outside edges back on themselves in to the middle to make a ‘W’ shape.

004003Then I folded another piece of card in half and stuck all the folded edges together to make a book – I added a spine using Kaisercard in Grey

Next I covered the inside pages with selections of papers from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad

005Then it was time to decorate the front cover.

017I used a mixture of die cuts from the Collectables Pack, some co-ordinating mixed hemp cord and  a Rhinestone Sparklet.

Next it was time to add the photos together with some sticker embellishments and more Rhinestone Sparklets.

020I used some gorgeous mandala stickers and borders from the Sticker Sheet. I also used a colouring pencil from one of the new colouring pencil sets to colour a word that I die cut from my stash.

I used Sea Foam Kaisercard to mat my photos on and to put behind the white lattice arch die cut form the collectables.

I hope you like this little mini album. The papers are so versatile as there is scope for lots of fussy cutting, colouring in on some of the designs and plain papers too! I hope you’re inspired – I was !

Recipes with Bon Appetit

Hello everyone,

Denise here with a little mini book using the Bon Appetit Kaisercraft collection.

076 (2)I’m one of those people who has a little ‘stash’ of recipes that are  all pushed into an old school recipe book of mine which I’ve had since I left school a very long time ago! Ahem about 40 years to be precise !

074So when I received this kit I decided to use the Recipe Cards to record some of the favourite recipes of mine that are scribbled on bits of paper – then I thought ‘Why not make a mini book’…

I started off with some Licorice Kaisercard, measuring two pieces to a tiny bit more than 6 x 4 inches. I then took a piece of Kaisercard Kraft cardstock and measured it to 6 x 4, then scored from one inch in every half an inch to one inch from the other end. Next I concertina folded it on the half inch scores to make the hinge as below.

063I stuck the one inch end pieces  to the edge of the black card. I then cut some more of the Kraft card into 6 x 4 to make the pages. These were then stuck onto one side of each hinge

The pages were made using lots of pieces from  the papers together with some from the 6.5  x 6.5  pad  and lots of items from the Collectables pack.

077 (2)I used some of the gorgeous Cool paper (the black checked) to make a triangular pocket inside the front cover and back so I can tuck some little bits and more recipe cards in.

I stuck some recipe cards onto some of the pages to record some of my special recipes.

078Some of the elements were raised up on foam tape. I also used some of the papers from the 6.5 x 6.5  paper pad to cover the pages and use as little strips and corners.

079I used some of the index tabs from the sticker sheet to label the pages and some of the borders.080I drew some faux stitching around some of the Kraft card pages and cut around the collectables to define them a bit more. On this page I used a flower pot and some herbs.

Some Kraft tags came in very useful too as extra embellishments .

081Inside back cover showing the pocket for tucking extra recipe cards into

082 (2)I also used some Black Soot Distress Ink to go round some of the edges.

I really enjoyed cutting and snipping and using the many elements in this collection and now my recipes are tidy !

I hope you can pop back to see some more inspiration very soon form the team.
