Summer layout with Tropical Punch

Hello Kaisercraft fans!

Emmy here with a new layout to share! This month I have the pleasure to work with one of the Kaisercraft newest collections – Tropical Punch. I really love the bright summer colours of this paper line and the effect is always stunning!

MI-remember-web

For my background I used the Refreshing pattern paper as a base and I added a slightly smaller square of the Lemonade pattern paper on top of it. Before I glued the two layers together, I added dimensional pattern using Tim Holtz’ Bubble Layering Stencil and modelling paste. I sprinkled pink Dylusions Ink Sprays to give the background extra colour and I stamped the frame around it using Kaisercraft Gingham clear stamp and brown ink.

The pretty rhinestones are from Kaisercraft Orange colour as well, and you can find the printed tape HERE.

For the circles under my pictures I used pattern papers from the 6.5″ Tropical Punch Paper Pad. I added Liquid Pearls and inked their edges before added them to my page.

To decorate my layout I used die cuts from the Tropical Punch Collectables package and from the ones included in the 6.5″ Paper Pad.

The gorgeous flowers are from Kaisercraft of course – Paper Blooms Hot Pink and Sunset, and Mini paper blooms Hot Pink. I added a bit of Stickles Star Dust to make my roses shine.

For the swirls and the foliage around the blooms I used Kaisercraft Decorative Die Foliage and pattern papers from the 6.5″ Paper Pad. The new dies are amazing – they cut so easily and the patters are useful for any type of project.

And finally the title – I used word banners from the 12″ Sticker Sheet. I inked their edges and adhered them to my layout using mounting foam tape.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project!

And don’t forget to check the blog again soon for more inspirational projects with the newest Kaisercraft collections!

As always, I had to put some paints onto my work , otherwise it would be too empty for me!

Make sure you check out the Merly Impressions store for some great deals and of course for wonderful collections.

Have a good day!

Mix and Match Mini Album

Hi everyone,

It’s Pam again.

For a long time now I’ve been wanting to make a book with a stitched binding, and when I was sent the Kaisercraft Mix and Match collection I thought the papers would be just the ticket. So I set to and made this wee mini travel album:  _MG_1128-1 As you can see I have used Baker’s Twine for the  stitched binding:

_MG_1152-25Each page spread was made with a piece of paper measuring 6″ x 12″.  The paper strips were folded to form pockets and flaps.

This first spread is the inside cover, and the first page:

_MG_1130-3Turning to the next page there is a pocket on the right hand side:

_MG_1131-4Then a two page spread:

_MG_1132-5Followed by a flap page-right flap closed:

_MG_1133-6Right flap open:

_MG_1134-7A narrow flap:

Another narrow flap:_MG_1141-14Open flap:

Another flap page:

_MG_1143-16Flap open:

_MG_1144-17Two page spread:

_MG_1145-18Pocket page:

_MG_1146-19Two page spread:

_MG_1147-20And another pocket page:

_MG_1148-21And another:

_MG_1150-23And finally the inside back cover:

_MG_1149-22To embellish the mini album I used some of the stickers from the sticker sheet, and various Kaisercraft clear stamps, including: Captured Moments, Limelight and Art of Life.

Mini albums are such a great way to scrap a lot of photos from the one event, including holiday snaps. I hope you’ve enjoyed looking at this one!

Everyday Life

Hello again!

Today I will try to inspire you with everyday life photo’s. It doesn’t always have to be pictures of faces; this time I’ve made a layout with the Mix and Match collection that presents a bit of a different point of view!

Mix & Match – mixing it up !

Kaisercraft’s Mix and Match collection is a neutral Kraft based collection, with pops of red, white and black which give the collection a modern, graphic feel. Within the collection the mix and match potential is self evident. However, what I love about this collection is how easy it is to mix and match elements of this collection with other Kaisercraft collections as well, for a completely different feel.

Although I love the modern graphic design, and the red black and white on Kraft, I thought it would be fun to mix up some of the collection with a softer, pretty papers, so for my layout I chose to mix the neutral kraft with papers from the Be-you-tiful collection.

Here’s the result:

P1160667-1I used the small hexagon side of the Lace paper for the background. It’s a lovely subtle pattern upon which to layer other papers and embellishments.

The roses are all fussy cut from the 12×12 papers in the Be-you-tiful collection, and some of the diecuts are also from that collection. However, by sticking to the Kraft and white elements from the Mix and Match sticker sheet, and the Mix and Match doily sticker sheet, I was able to incorporate embellishments from that collection also.

I’m really happy with this layout, and I love how adaptable the Mix and Match collection is.Other collections I think it would work well with are: Storyteller, Something Blue and Limelight.

See you soon,

Pam

Merly Impressions September 2014 Challenge

Hi everybody! It’s a new month and we are to challenge you once more!

This month we are offering you a sketch challenge drawn by Pam. You can flip or rotate the sketch and your layout can be on any subject but we must be able to recognise that your layout was based on the sketch drawn by Pam.

The final date for entries is the 2nd of October 2014.

One of our design team has created a layout to provide a little inspiration:

Hi there everyone,

It’s Pam here with the Merly September challenge.

For September we have a sketch challenge for you. I love working from sketches – it takes away a lot of the decision making, the dithering that sometimes accompanies scrapbooking: photo here, or there? One embellishment or two? Where will I put the title? What about the journalling? Well those decisions are all taken care of if you use a sketch.

This is the sketch for the September challenge: Untitled-1

Remember you can rotate, flip or resize it.

For my take on the sketch I was working with the fabulous ‘Mix and Match’ papers from Kaisercraft. This collection is based around kraft and black with a pop of red. LOVE it! P1160666-1I started this layout with a couple of scrapes of gesso and some splashes of red acrylic paint.P1160665-1I then used some of the patterned papers from the Mix and Match collection, and a paper doily to add some layers. In addition to the Mix and Match papers I used some stickers from the sticker sheet to embellish the layout, and some cute coordinating letter stickers from another of the sticker sheets for the title. Oh, and one of the Captured Moments journalling stamps.

I do hope you like this sketch and that you are inspired to join in with this month’s challenge.

Can’t wait to see your layouts!

Pam

Please add your creation to the gallery below before the challenge closes at 1:00pm on 2rd October 2014. We will then choose our favourite layout to win a fantastic prize – a £25.00 voucher to spend on anything you want from the Merly Impressions online store. Wow!

We do hope that you have fun with our challenge and that we bring some inspiration your way. Every month I love to look through all your gorgeous entries but please make sure you follow the challenge rules as we are sad to have on occasion to remove some entries as they didn’t follow those rules. You can find a full list of the Challenge rules on the Monthly Challenge page but we would like to politely remind readers that:

  1. anyone who puts their entry on their own blog must link back to this post (http://www.merlyimpressions.co.uk/blog/project-portfolio/scrapbooking/merly-impressions-september-2014-challenge/) so that all your visitors can find the gallery below and enjoy all the fabulous layouts being created
  2. each creation entered must be “new” (not previously entered into a Merly Impressions or any other challenge)

It can be difficult for us to view any of your entries linked through Facebook therefore we are kindly asking you if you could please post your photos on the Merly Impressions page as this should make it easier for us all to admire your work. You can also email your entries directly to us at info@merlyimpressions.co.uk and we will add them and link them through our Photobucket gallery.
